Become a MacRumors Supporter for $50/year with no ads, ability to filter front page stories, and private forums.
The price is free. If you received a free Mac from someone, you can get High Sierra at zero cost. That means it is free.

The end user license agreement is what you're missing. There are no guarantees made and you agree to those terms.

Your claim of damages isn't going anywhere. If you're so confident in such, file a lawsuit and win. Go ahead. Prove your claim.
If you buy a can of soup, and get food poisoning from it, and sue, and they claim you have no case because the soup was FREE, (after all, it came with the CAN, which is what you actually paid for...) would you still hold this nonsense position?

I paid for the MAC, and I paid for the CONTENTS; I paid for every thing in the box, AND the box, including every internal part, and all the software it came with. I'm not going to argue with you, it's clearly pointless, and I have no particular duty to correct the failings in your education. You simply have your opinion, and I have the facts. May you find your way as pleasant.
