Is anyone else having problems to eject an external drive permanently that have a bootable macOS installation on it? My drives are Thunderbolt 3 or 4.

I have two bootable backups made with Carbon Copy Cloner. One that I regularly use every few days for backing up and an old clone of another Macs installation with some Tahoe Beta from August.
I always I ejected those drives to not confuse my macOS installation and only mount them when I need them to do another backup or search for files on that old one.

For example when I use the "open with" option. There are many apps more than once in the list with different version numbers because macOS is also seeing the apps on those external drives. That's annoying.

Since I removed my HFS+ bootable installer partitions already in 26.4 Beta 1 those two APFS (encrypted) drives always come back a second after I ejected them. The update to Beta 2 didn't change that behavior. Before removing the HFS+ partitions I had not problems to eject them without needing to unplug the cable.

I have no problems to eject my TimeMachine drives that are connected via Thunderbolt and also USB.

Somehow the bootable drives don't come back immediately when I eject them together with the TimeMachine drives but they come back after my Mac wakes up from sleep an the Thunderbolt drives don't. I have to mount them manually again what should be the case for all external drives.

Somehow my Internet was partially broken. Not sure if it was the updates fault. But it seems restarting the router helped.
Edit: Seems I am not the only one with Internet issues.
Edit2: YouTube is almost unusable at the moment.

I am having internet connectivities issues since updating the Tahoe 26.4. My browsers (all) are not consistently working. I can email and use Teams but browsing does not work. I have restarted all routes, cleared cache and restarted. I even took my laptop to another location to test it and the issues followed the MacBook Air. I am turning off beta loads after this is fixed.

Did you try to disable "Limit tracking by IP address" in the network settings?

also experiencing issues... turned off "Limit tracking by IP address" and that seemed to help a little bit, but it's still not perfect. cleared out network plists too. do we think a time machine rollback to yesterday would work?

Installed on M1 Ultra Mac Studio no problem, but on my M3 MacBook Pro it keeps failing while preparing with 5 minutes remaining. Rebooted and tried again, same thing. Anyone else?
I have the same issue on my Macbook M4 and Mac Studio M3.

Someone in here who also had this problem on only one of his Macs fixed it by booting into safe mode if I remember correct
Safe mode doesn’t fix it for me. I see hardly any reports of this issue, but it has popped up on a couple of other threads. Is this a very isolated problem, or are some users just not reporting it?

Just installed 26.4 beta 2: external disk problems fixed, but one of the bugs I have found is that changing icons with the ctrl + C - Ctrl + V is not working anylonger. Anyone has this issue?

Two issues I have had since 26.4 beta 2:

  • Custom Finder icons (for folders and drives) are not displayed: generic icons are displayed instead
    • I confirmed that there are still .VolumeIcon.icns files under them.
  • When saving a file in an application, i.e. when the File dialog is displayed, if I try to type a filename that contains a space, textarea gets empty just after I hit a space key.

my 2020 iMac too, but trying on dev beta now vs public one i had it on earlier.

I had a weird network drive issue that I chalked up to some random thing after updating to 26.4 beta 1. had to manually copy my network based backup drive from the main drive to drives 2 and 3 as my SyncFolders App couldn't properly find the network drives over and over and the automated backups failed. finally got everything working normally again but now on beta2, seems like the issue is happening again. network drives failing to load on boot up and the SynFolders app failing to backup properly.

On my MacMini with 26.4 Beta (25E5218f), Time Machine Backup to Synology NAS again stopped backing up. It reports an issue with Username/Password, even after removing and successfully adding the Target providing proper credentials.
Same happened here with 26.2 Beta. Apple fixed it then.

I tested 26.4 beta 2 on Mac Air M3 and M1
I suffer wifi problems and unexpected reboots
I think beta 2 is much worse than beta 1
Returning to beta 1 again
