Ran into an interesting issue with mine. Update shows it’s only 9.3gb for me. Downloaded it, installed it, system does it reboot to install but it did the reboot really fast. I check, it’s still showing on 15.6.1. Now it’s redownloading the update all over again
This happened to me to. Went f

Mac users can download the macOS Tahoe update by using the Software Update section of System Settings. While you're installing macOS Tahoe, take a look at our macOS Tahoe roundup to get an in-depth overview of all of the new features. Apple has also released macOS 15.7 and macOS 14.8 for those unable to upgrade to macOS Tahoe. ‎

macOS Tahoe adopts Apple's Liquid Glass design, and the translucent, glass-like look extends to desktop icons, folders, the Dock, in-app navigation, menus, toolbars, the Control Center, and more. The menu bar and Control Center are more customizable and folders can use custom colors and emoji.

Spotlight got a major update with improved search and the ability to execute hundreds of actions without ever having to open a Mac app. Safari has an updated Tab design, Live Activities now sync over from the iPhone, the Phone app has expanded to the Mac, and there's a new Games app. Apple's release notes for macOS Tahoe are below.Get More Info

For a deeper look at all of the new features in macOS Tahoe, we have a dedicated macOS Tahoe roundup, plus a macOS Tahoe forum for discussing the changes.

A clue please? My M1 MB Air updated today to 15.7 but no 26 update appears. But on my mini M1 it’s right there…watzap?

I'm not a fan of the speaker/brightness setting bar moved to top right corner when changing it.
Yup. I didn't really have a problem with these settings indicators appearing in the center of the screen, on top of the content being viewed, since they were easy to see there and they appeared only briefly, but now we have to remember to look up at the corner of the screen, and these indicators are now smaller, and with the change from square dots to indicate the setting, to thin sliders, that adds to the difficulty in seeing where the setting is. The sliders for brightness and volume are also pointlessly different--the brightness slider almost looks OK, but the volume slider has an outline around it which adds still more to the difficulty in seeing where it's set.

Not sure what was changed in the one build increase from the RC, but my fan is not running constantly on this final build. Feels better.

While I've had all the other betas, I can't afford to F around with macOS betas. Work critical apparatus. I usually wait until .1 for macOS, but only for macOS. How is it working?
On my Google mail the sound when mail comes doesn't make a sound or show that I have mail except for the red dot on the mail icon, but on my Apple mail it does it the correct way.

Can anybody tell me where the download Tahoe installation file is located, please? It has downloaded and ready to upgrade and usually resides in the Application folder, except no sign there. Checked a few other obvious places too, but no joy. I want to create an installer USB for a clean install.
I couldn't find it either because I do the same with a USB clean install. I wonder if you need to install it first then re-download it for it to show up. I will try that tomorrow.

FYI: Video and mouse stuttering are present in Tahoe, and it's utterly annoying. Hopefully it's just macOS still going through it's maintenance phase and things get better over the next couple of days.

Is there a reliable guide on how to DOWNGRADE back to Sequoia? I literally cannot see whatever the frak they replaced Launchpad with, as in I DO NOT HAVE THE EYESIGHT FOR THIS! So I need to downgrade just to use my freaking laptop! The replacement is useless in every possible way and several I didn't think possible.

Yeah, im cool with 15.7....ditching Launchpad in Tahoe is dumb. I remember thinking it was gimmicky when Lion was announced, and then quickly realized how much I actually used it upon beta testing for months. Downgraded back to Snow Leopard for a month after Lion released and absolutely hated the stacks in the dock comparatively. stacks in the dock was useful/cool in its time, but Launchpad was by far the best solution. Spotlight not being able to handle both new capabilities and launchpad is again....dumb. Let me know when they figure out a way to re-enable Launchpad without being forced to disable new spotlight.

Just restore from your backup, that’s probably the quickest and easiest way.

After updating from macOS 18.7 to macOS 26 my MacBook Pro was very slow. I made a fresh install and everything is very fast now. No problem at all. However, I have some questions:
1- If I change the wallpaper doing right-click, cmd+Q do not work to close System Settings. To work I have to change to another setting. If I open System Settings it opens in General and cmd+Q works well.
2- When I restart my mac the default image is always the same. Can I change it because I don’t like it? As far as I know it can’t be changed.

Anybody else notice Apple Music sounds noticeably better? But it shouldn't right? I haven't changed anything else in my setup. I haven't tried on iOS yet.

yep! Same here! I rely on my MBA and Mac mini to make $$ - so I'll wait until .2 or .3 comes out before moving to Tahoe.
Only the latest version of macOS is fully protected, and continued use of an older OS leaves devices at risk, as Apple does not promise—or deliver—complete patch coverage for superseded versions.

Upgraded this morning on my MacBook Pro M2. First impression is I can keep working and nothing broken so far. Design: O dear Apple. Them big corners and traffic lights on every window! What were you thinking? Glas effects... just don't care. Is there a button to switch it back to flat?

Whether downloading through System Settings or the installer directly from Apple's CDN the download is AGONIZINGLY slow for me. ~30kbps. I can download anything else from Apple at full speed. Is there another mirror hosting the full installer?
