I think I'm confused now.... apologies on that. <scratches head>

Wheels like the G27 etc. are supported on macOS through App extensions DriverKit, right?
So, games like F1 2017, Dirt 4, Grid Autosport run very will including force feedback on macOS Catalina, Big Sur and Monterey. (kudos to Feral)
I play them with the Logitech G27 and they work excellent (well, okay.. F1 2017 have very fidgety settings..)

I’ve not been able to use my G29 properly for the last two macOS versions in Steam for ETS2, ATS and F1 2017 because the Logitech support software doesn’t work and I’ve not had the proper rotation. Half a turn of the wheel was equal to full rotation which made the games effectively unplayable.

Does this mean that with Ventura, I’ll be able use it fully again?

FWIW: I just installed macOS Venture Beta 3 on my iMac 2017 updating from the latest Monterey.

I have the Logitech G27 wheel and it worked perfectly on macOS Big Sur and Monterey on Dirt 4 and Grid Autosport.
F1 2017 was very fidgety on the controls, but playable.
I assume the G27 wheel worked well due to Feral making use of DriverKit (?)

After the update to maOS Ventura B3, the wheel keeps rotating left and right.... and differently from the startup "calibration"... I know macOS Ventura is still in beta, but I am wondering if the good ol' G27 wheel wull be supported.

macOS Ventura features newly added support for some of the most popular racing wheels, pedals, and shifters for use in racing games on the Mac, including Logitech's G920 and G29 racing wheels, according to Apple's developer website.

Apple also says that many additional Bluetooth and USB game controllers are supported on macOS Ventura, iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and tvOS 16. Among the new controllers supported are Nintendo's Joy-Cons, which can be used individually or in a pair as a singular controller, according to testing on iOS 16 by developer Riley Testut.

A new "buddy controller" feature on macOS Ventura, iOS 16, and iPadOS 16 combines inputs from multiple game controllers into one so a friend can help you while gaming.

macOS Ventura is available in beta for registered Apple developers, with a public beta to follow in July. Apple says the software update will be released in the fall, bringing the expanded support for game controllers and racing accessories to all users.

This is like having a well prepared race car but with no race track available. Useless until Apple has a highly rated game or simulator that will work seamlessly with the Mac.

Now the Ventura is here, has anyone managed to successfully set up a Logitech G27 wheel kit with a iMac?

Well, I updated my Mac Studio to Ventura, and connected the G27 to it.
Again, the wheel continuously moves back and forth...

However..... I disconnected the wheel, the fired up Grid Autosport, and connected the wheel to the Mac.
The game crashed on first start once, but after that Grid combined with the G27 worked as before.

I also tried Dirt 4, and the G27 also seems to work as before, but the game crashed to desktop about 2 minutes into a stage.

So, the G27 seems to work with the older games as before, but you need to connect the wheel just before starting Dirt 4 or Grid Autsport (in my experience).

But the games feel unstable, and I am not sure if that's due to the wheel or macOS Ventura compatibility.
It feels like the OS does not support the G27, but an older game with the G27 drivers "built-in" do work... YMMV.

I wonder once Grid Legends becomes available, if the G27 will work with that game.

Did apple actually add steering wheel support to the final release - they don’t seem to mention it on their web site. Which wheels actually work and which games work with them?

I spent two hours talking to support and nothing they could do would make it recognise my G920. In the end, the best advice they could give was "it might not be implemented yet".

I'm very disappointed, I really want to be able to play ATS and ETS2 again.

I have the G29 with shifter.

In ETS2 I can use the steering wheel including shifter, but without force feedback and 900° steering is also not possible. However playable.

Everything including 900° steering is possible under Dirt 4.

I don't see the steering wheel under settings in Ventura. Also, I can't use the Logitech software. See image...

It looks promising that the shifter works in ETS2.
Do you if that did not work under earlier macOS versions?

I am wondering if the G29 (shifter-) "support" is related to the OS, or to the individual game

Had Monterey 12.6.2 on it before, the shifter was not recognized. No reaction in game.

The shifter didn't work under Parallels either. Not all buttons were displayed under Hardware > Controller.

I had the wheel (with and without the shifter) show up in ETS2 and ATS but it's basically unusable because the rotation isn't there and it struggles to find all the buttons and axis.

The fact that it doesn't show yet as a game controller in System Settings means that it's not properly natively supported yet. There shouldn't be any need to use any Logitech software, it should simply be a case of plugging it in and having the OS detect it and make it available.

So if it partially works, you're lucky. But it's still not at the state we were promised in the Ventura announcement.

Ventura 13.2 update. Steering wheel still not properly integrated. Don't understand why Apple advertised it?!

I don't get it either, it's still on Apple's Public Dev website:

Game Controller framework

A wide variety of new and existing game controllers are supported by the Game Controller framework across Apple platforms. macOS also adds support for the most popular racing wheels, pedals, and shifters, including the Logitech G920 and Logitech G29.
Your G29 is explicitly mentioned....
I would understand that my ageing G27 is not supported, but the G29 should be, right?

Ich verstehe es auch nicht, es ist immer noch auf der Public Dev-Website von Apple:

Ich würde verstehen, dass mein alterndes G27 nicht unterstützt wird, aber das G29 sollte es sein, oder?

According to the ad, a G29 or G920 should be supported. Unfortunately it doesn't work properly for me.

Still the story:

- Connect to USB -> Steering wheel is recognized and turns left and right once.
- The steering wheel does not appear under Settings
- usable in ETS2, but not 900°

This means it's not natively supported. If it was, it would appear in System Settings under game controllers and you'd get the correct 900° rotation plus force feedback.

Hi

I have seen that you try to use a Logitech Racing Wheel with macOS.

I'm journalist and i will write a thing about that (in french)

How do you test ? And what the model of Racing Wheel you have ?

I have an app to test "MFi" accessory. Can you help me ? Is this possible to launch the app, connect the racing wheel and make a capture ?

(i can't sent you a MP)

I installed the RC of macOS Sonoma and this still hasn't been implemented.

Here's the Game Controllers section of System Settings with my wheel connected.

I will try my G27, but I am sure it will react as it has been all the time....

TBH I think Apple has removed any mention of the wheels...

This was promised for Ventura in June 2022 but we're now on Sonoma 14.5 and it's still never been implemented.
