Congratulations

Congratulations. A much needed refresh.

Though I'd prefer a right side column, I think what matters more is that you have a clean new design. I hope it keeps improving.
Hope the forums and the logo get a refresh too.

Good job, MacRumors team.
:)

P.S. Extremely glad that you now support full rss feeds. THANK YOU!

I guess I am in a minority.. I definitely prefer the old design.

I'm along with you.
might look fresh but it's art for art sake.
NowI have to scroll and scroll to see stuff.
No more like or dislike buttons....very sad.
The whole thing takes up way more space without offering anything new.
Sometimes if it aint broke.......

Great improvement! but no OSX Blog?

I was just wondering why there is no OSX blog. or generalize the name "iOS blog" to fit any topic!:p
I also would like to see links, maybe at the bottom of the page, of the different sites you get resources from (and they should have yours in their sites too:D)

Just one suggestion: TAKE BETTER ADVANTAGE OF REAL STATE, you may be able to avoid some excessive scrolling

All an all great improvement!

Love it

Planned on not visiting this site any more after many years of reading then donating as the comments were getting out of hand. The removal of the negative/positive votes is a GREAT move, now get rid of the negative/positive votes for individual comments as it seems to do nothing more than offend people for expressing their opinion(s). There's enough childish fighting and negativity steaming on these forums, getting rid of further options in doing so is one way to clean up the threads (and yes, some people need to grow thicker skin, but this is a public forum and all ideas and opinions should be welcomed without people ganging up on each other).

Looks good to me. It has the crisp, clean look of a mobile site, but not too simplistic; still highly functional.

I'm still not a fan of the flash ads (too distracting, and flash often tends to crash my browser, so I try not to use it if I don't have to) . Static pictures or text ads would be much preferred!

Is there a way to still view the old version? Like ca.gizmodo.com?

I did not know about this until now. Even works for Lifehacker too. Thanks, I may have to start reading those sites again!

wow nice i like it soooo much! :):) very stylish and web 2.5ish.. but maybe make the first tab have a home icon instead of "Front Page"? or your logo like apple.com? also Facebook introduced a new share button, maybe you could pop that in? :)

i like how the forum is integrated into the new design (thumbsup)

The change was a little jarring, but I think I like it. Especially the buyers guide. I like the flow of it from newest to oldest as you scroll down. The red, yellow, and green lights are awesome too.

Well done Arn.

The votes are the first thing I look at because it gives me an idea if the article is generally market supported or not, and really, that's the bottom line.

Even when I read something that seems positive, a largely negative rating will help me realize that, for example, some great new service has hidden charges.

It's like taking "likes" away from Facebook. You can rarely find a site without such a feature anymore. What would Amazon be without "helpful/not helpful"? Talk about going backwards in social media. I'm hoping it's just a temporary thing in the transition.

Agree. Please bring back voting! :(

New layout: good and the bad

I kind of like the new layout--it looks more modern. However, I think it's less functional than the old design. The reasons: 1) the main window is a little narrow; 2) it takes too many scrolls to get to the bottom of the right column to select articles. The old design was much more compact and it was eaiser to navigate in the right column. Maybe you could tweak the design so that the left main column is a little wider, and only show the headings for the right column so that you can select articles faster.

This morning we've launched a long awaited MacRumors redesign as well as a number of under-the-hood improvements. It may take some time for the new design to propagate completely, so if you aren't seeing it, please be patient.

If you have any specific issues with the new design, please email us any bugs reports and we'll try to address them as quickly as possible. Here are some of the new features and changes:

- Full RSS Feeds - All existing RSS subscribers have been automatically upgraded to full content feeds. If for some reason you prefer the truncated feed, we are continuing to offer that at this url.
- Fixed or Fluid - The default view for the site is now a fixed-width design. For those who prefer a fluid (variable) width design, you can turn it On or Off. If you change your mind later, the links for those settings are at the bottom of this page.
- Page Load Times - Pages will load faster and the site will be able to handle more traffic.
- Content Changes - The content of the MacRumors front page will remain the same. As always, it will highlight the most significant iOS and Mac news and rumors. Page 2 has been retired and has evolved into a Mac Blog, and our iPhone Blog will expand to cover iOS and iPad topics.

RSS Feeds

- All MacRumors Stories
- Front Page - Existing subscribers have been upgraded to this feed.
- Mac Blog - Existing Page 2 subscribers have been upgraded to this feed.
- iOS Blog - Existing iPhone subscribers have been upgraded to this feed.

Social Media

- @MacRumors on Twitter - our comprehensive Twitter feed. We also offer individual components at @MacRumorsFP, @MacRumorsMac, @MacRumorsiOS
- MacRumors on Facebook - Like and share MacRumors stories on Facebook.

The color indication next to each model on the buyer's guide is a good idea. Only the use of red, green(?), yellow isn't a nice choice when considering color blind people. If possible, please use blue or similar instead of green or yellow.

This.
It's not as bad as Gizmodo's redesign but still the old was better.

Maybe it will look better with Lion.
