Sorry, didn't see the nomination thread; there are many on the list I don't really care for (ok most) and many that I see around that I do like. :(

Less then 24 hours for nominations is kinda short.
 
First, there is no reason for the OP's avatar to be up there, since he's relatively obscure.

Second, xUKHCx had a kickass avatar and definitely deserves a mention. When I first started off here Lee's and his were the two avatars I learned faster than all others.

I object on xUKHCx's avatar.... I think there are better avatar's than his out there...

also, this isn't a popularity contest. Just because OP isn't known to us doesn't mean he is disqualified. This is an avatar contest after all, not, how famous you are.

edesignuk was mentioned a few times and he wasn't put in the poll. Don't worry about it though, he won't care anyway, just pointing it out.


Might also mention that the URLs of those images are linked from user profiles and the images will change as the users change their avatars. Those who may view this thread later on won't be seeing what people are seeing currently. (just for the record)

1) I find it funny that everyone is giving the OP trouble over this. I mean...you being serious? (granted, I am not sure about half of those avatars up for a vote as even being mentioned in the first thread about this topic but whatever).
2) To OP - although this might not work, couldnt you just put a poll up in the forums section and keep it going for a few days? It would make it alot easier to make sure people voted once and you can see what the current tally is.
3) Most of those avatars are just people who post on here a lot and it seems like people are associating well known avatars with "best" avatar and that is far from the truth.

I find it funny that you think everyone is giving the OP trouble in the same post you do exactly that, except even more so than anyone else has. Mostly it looks pretty friendly to me.
 
If you look through the nonimation thread, somebody else nominated the OPs avatar...that's why it's up there.

And as said, it's a competition for best avatar, not best member with most recognizable avatar. There could be a guy with 501 posts who has the best avatar...but because of their limited exposure it likely won't be mentioned. This competition will never be completely un-bias.

So who pays for the 64Gb iPad? Or is it a donation from Steve Jobs because we're all so cool?

I agree. It is friendly, it's sparked people to find better/funnier/less appropriate avatars. It's not really a contest, no one wins anything and it's better than the OP asking about random stuff like why lined paper over unlined paper. ;) There are many avatars that are great and better than many in the "poll". In the end you can all file this under "who gives a ****" if you'd like.
