MacRumors Fantasy Football Thread

Not a vintage day for me, but with Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal players lining up for me in tomorrow's fixtures hopefully there'll be a few more points for me yet this week.

Of course, if any of those players pick up big points it's only going to take points off of the other players, but denial's a powerful thing... ;)
 
Busy period coming up for us, I did well last week with 58 points made mainly by a Santa-Cruz hat trick.

Hopefully this can continue and after a slow start I'm up to 8th, only a point behind 7th and 10 behind 6th. Pretty happy at the moment. :D

It does rather. I think thats where my team lacks, a high scoring Captain. Gerrard has good weeks every week but it making him captain doesn't make it out standing.

40 points with 4 players left to play though.
 
Good day yesterday, apart from none of my strikers scored. :rolleyes:

Bentley, Elano and Santa-Cruz to play still though. Arsenal 0-0 was a good result for me with James in nets and Toure in my back 3. :D

51 points so far.
 
Ditto on Keane, can't believe he wasn't in on the scoring. If anyone made Berbatov their captain they're going to have a good week!

Only at 22 points so far, so I hope the Man. City - Liverpool match produces some points for me tomorrow.

EDIT: Gah. No goals for my entire team leaves me with a paltry 38 points provisional.

EDIT 2: Good lord, another week and no goals...these guys are killing me!
 
A good week for anyone with Ronaldo appointed as their captain, after the pacy winger got a hat-trick in the 6-0 rout of Newcastle. Unfortunately he doesn't feature in my team so I think my lead will have been reduced a bit this week.

Still, it could be worse – I could have had Shay Given in goal. :p
 
Indeed, I didn't have Ronaldo and the recent week when he got a hat-trick really chipped away my lead, especially given that quite a few people have him nominated as their captain. Reports that my chairman is deeply unhappy and is looking to replace me with Jurgen Klinsmann are pure speculation, nothing more. :eek:

I'm confident my team will be back to winning ways soon, though. ;)
 
50 points on the week thanks to Benjani's hat trick, but I'm down to 12th now.

I've changed my formation to a 4-3-3, dropped Gigs because he doesn't play enough and picked up David Bentley. Now I'm shopping for a striker...

Gah! Well predicted. A couple of poorish weeks combined with some exceptional performances by players in my rivals' squads have meant that my commanding, once unassailable lead has completely evaporated. :(

I know how Kevin Keegan felt back in '96 now...

A couple of poor-ish weeks for me, with David James and Martin Petrov so far being my stars this weekend.

A few Arsenal and Blackburn players in my team, so we'll see.

Still sitting in 7th in the league, so fairly happy.

Just spotted there was a MacRumors league, thought i'd get involved. I've joined and ended up at the top of the league, so if you think it's unfair or anything, then you can kick me out.

Looking forward to tonight's game, need some more points this week!

What?! Surely there are rules against this sort of thing?! :eek:

Nah, good to have you in the league timsutcliffe – the more the merrier and all that. I'll mention publicly though that your team started out on Gameweek 1 and most of us started out on Gameweek 3, so I'm still the bestest unofficially. :D ;)

i didn't realise you all started in week 3, i guess i've got a two week advantage over the rest of you. Sorry folks.

Not a great night tonight, should have had Adebayor as my captain. Oh well.
 
Disaster for me - Petrov sent off and Micah Richards out after surgery. Benjani's transfer to Man City means I have three MC players and it's too many eggs in one basket. Not sure which of the three to get rid of.

I now have Torres and Adebayor up front though, so I'm expecting the goals to roll in. I picked Torres up too early though - I got rid of Kenwyne Jones to make way for him but Sunderland are playing Derby next week, so I missed out on a couple surefire goals. :eek:
 
Useless

Terrible weekend for me, scoring 40 points. Petrov sent off, no game for Woodgate, and i don't think my strikers scored either.

Maybe this weekend will be better.
 
Anyone still managing? My performance has really flatlined recently. Adebayor isn't scoring much and Benjani and Petrov are damn near invisible after having fine starts to the season. David James is the only player I picked at the start of the season that is still playing productively in my starting XI.

A series of bad weeks has left me marooned at 13th on our table - I was aiming for a top 10 finish but my strikers are not scoring goals.
