MacRumors Fantasy Football Thread

I'm shooting for a top five finish, which seemed a tall order the first few weeks - but I've clawed my way up a few places already....

The league is pretty close, at this point it's still anyone's game - one run of good or bad luck can really move you around the table...

EDIT: Son of a....I pick up Van Persie and of course, that means he must needs get himself hurt immediately.

Van Persie of course goes down also...

Which costs me 4 points to replace, even though I made my last transfer last week, but without any play the past weekend...

Belter of a week this week, even tho Anelka and Vidic didn't play. 67 points and up 2 7th.

2 games left to play this weekend though, which I wont get any points from.

Only snagged 42 points so far, but I've replaced Van Persie with Keane and Spurs play tomorrow, so maybe more points to come...

Unfortunately I'll take a point deduction since I had to replace Van Persie just four days or so after getting him.

EDIT: a good week after all, Keane scores so he erases the points deduction I incurred getting him. Now I can get rid of the injured Kanu and have a 100% healthy team again...for now.

What a good idea it was to play Richards and Dunne today....
I'm afraid to go look at my totals, due to all the negative signs I'm likely to see.

I only got 7 (provisional)

What happened to Kasper Schmichael, i only just noticed that he has gone on loan to cardiff. He was doing really well.

That's OK, I'm about to get a total of 1 point from 4 players, thanks to -3 combined from my City lads.

Yeah, it was a bit out of the blue that one. Luckily I was watching Sky Sports News last night and they mentioned the loan deal so I was able to change my team accordingly.

But that Chelsea result is going to drop a few people's points tally this week. Luckily I've got Tevez with his goals and Cech with his clean sheet to make up for it. As it stands I've got a provisional score of 20 with four of my players still to make an appearance this weekend.

An unmitigated disaster for me this week - 13 points total (8 provisional). Only Gerrard plays tomorrow, so unless he scores 5 goals against Arsenal...:D

I'm glad I still have David James, the Schmeichel loan caught me off-guard.

Gerrard's in my team too, so I can guarantee an avalanche of goals will not be forthcoming from the Liverpool captain. ;)

I have Gerrard, Torres, Fabregas, Adebayor, Anelka, Reo-Coker and Lescott still left to play.

So i hope it is 6-5 Liverpool.

I'll take 6-5 Arsenal, thank you very much. As long as Torres is actually playing, and nets all 5. Otherwise.....

Given that I've got Toure in my defence, my ideal result tomorrow would be a clean sheet for the Gunners and Fabregas banging a couple in. :)

Gerrard and Keane saved my week - with 20 points between them they more than doubled my score from yesterday.

Still just oustide the top 10, but I'm slowly clawing my way up there. ;)

I'm officially™ annoyed with David Healey – prior to us starting the league he'd got a couple of goals so I bought him, thinking he'd be a bit of a bargain. However, the Norn Iron international hasn't bothered the back of the net since – so this week I finally go and drop him. Sure enough, he only goes and bloody scores!

Ha, I know I won't have that problem with Dirk Kuyt...

For the first time, I think I have my whole squad in a stable arrangement, barring injuries (famous last words).

Even so, I'm hardly clawing my way up the table with my current form.

My best buy so far has been Clint Dempsey, who is, in the absence of Brian McBride, the best American in the Premiership. Fulham now has (I believe) six Americans in the squad. Shame about their current form.

Hmm... I'm hearing this morning that Cech may well be out of action this weekend due to a torn something or other – might be time to ask the chairman to get the chequebook out.

Or Cechbook, even. Sorry.

Had quite a good week this time around, but used the wrong West Ham defender - kept Jonathan Spector on the bench, had McCarthy in, and it cost me 8 points.

My strikeforce of Benjani and Keane was pretty quiet though. It figures that Spurs score 4 today and Robbie Keane scored exactly none of those goals, though he did get an assist...could've been my best game week yet.

The boy Agbonlahor done good. A last gasp clearance off the line followed by the winning goal for Villa. I expect his efforts to be rewarded with a suitably high points tally this week.

Woohoo! 59 points! the final tally was way better than I expected. :D

I just watched the replay of the Aston Villa/Birmingham. Agbonlahor really made it exciting at the end! The game could easily have been a tie or Birmingham victory.

Not as poor a week as I expected, actually.

44 points with Toure and Hleb still to play. Pretty happy.

Vidic and Ferdinand at the back is the way forward, mind you. ;)
