I am organised so it looks like i am paperwork b*tch (its not rude or sexist but an ongoing joke taking the mick out of my friend). Other than that, i dont need much sleep, around 4 hours per night so i can also be the last minute crammer.

ooooh no. All toro is mine. Same goes for hotatagai.
But you already volunteered for another job!

Don't worry, I will ensure that the lunchroom has plenty of all types. Especially fresh uni. Yum! :D

Jebus.. Sushi, how is that properly spelled? I've seen it spelled at least 4 different ways.
Hotategai is probably the most common spelling in Romanji.

Many folks just say Hotate when they want to order scallop sushi or sashimi.

On a side note Hotate/Hotategai references the meat/mussle portion of the scallop. I've had some wonderful cooked dishes that use the whole scollop served right on the scallop shell. Dang, now I am getting hungry!

Any comments about my original questions? From the way the thread has progressed, I don't think our business is going to make much money. Although it still might make the cover of some business magazines.
It's kind of hard to organize 80,000 plus talented and diverse individuals! :D

Whatever it is we produce or provide, we should appeal to a world wide international audience.

And you're a pilot, right? And there are several pilots around MR. Seems like there'll be a need for a fleet, crew, attendants and a global networking hub on the ground in several of the larger cities.

Not at all. Everyone line up by member number!

The ass part will no doubt come in handy. We have lots of those on MR. ;)

Sorry, I think you're confused. I'm not talking about personality.

I'm trying to play catch-up with threads I've missed....

I think that using the MR membership to do "real" work is a great idea, either for profit or - and I think a lot of members would do this - pro bono for deserving organizations.

As mentioned, the key is one of organizing the talent, of which there is a lot here. I'd suggest a "job board" listing each incoming job (web design, programming, A/V, etc... things that can be done over the web) with its requirements and necessary skill set.

I'd then think that, either soon after the job was posted or even beforehand, a lead would be assigned to coordinate the work. Such a lead wouldn't necessarily need to be proficient at the job required, just good at organizing people. The lead would then determine when enough people had signed on, then run the job until it was finished. Simple jobs (small web pages, etc.) might follow a more streamlined one-person-team approach.

Since the membership in constantly in flux, with people coming and going, or, like me, taking time "off" for periods of time due to other issues, we couldn't be certain at any given time exactly what we could do, but odds are good that anything that falls into the "could do it over the web" category is one that some subset of members here could and would do.

Ahhhh.. so I don't deserve all the strange looks when I order hotate and there's only hotategai on the menu. <wipes brow>

Sounds about right. Of course, we don't really work that hard anyway, so many working days are closer to vacation days anyway.
