Not really sure how disabling JavaScript improves something in relation to battery or eyes, but it can certainly make a lot of web sites not work properly.

Also, interested in dark mode and embedding Twitter as mentioned in the other thread. Does the newer version also offer any performance gains over the current one?
It would be great to see the BBcode added for Twitter, it's quoted a lot on this site. Do you all have someone who can add it? It's not very hard to do.

Can we get the Roundups tab to go back to the behavior of only popping out when clicked and not when the cursor hovers over it?

I hope not! That would be an awful keyboard!

Apple is exploring a new keyboard design that could eventually replace its butterfly switch MacBook keyboards and finally solve the problem of "sticky" or inconsistently functioning keys.

Issues that Apple has acknowledged can occur with some current MacBook keyboards are widely believed to be caused by dust or other particulates getting lodged in the butterfly mechanism underneath the keycaps, which are shallower than those on previous-generation MacBook and MacBook Pro keyboards with traditional scissor switch mechanisms.

In its 2018 MacBook Pro models, Apple quietly introduced a thin silicone membrane underneath keyboard keys, which is an attempt to solve the issue of dust and crumbs from getting stuck. But a new patent suggests the company is researching a totally new approach to the way keyboards are designed that could eradicate the problem for good.

Published last week by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and first spotted by AppleInsider, the patent application called "Computer with keyboard" describes a keyboard that replaces movable keys with a glass sheet that includes raised sections to designate the tactile location of individual keys.

When a raised key section is pressed, the keyboard detects the input pressure for that key and processes as a typical key press. The concept differs from the featureless plain of a virtual onscreen keyboard because the raised sections allow the user to feel where their fingers should rest in relation to the individual keys.

Raised glass key concepts from Apple's patent application

The patent describes how an additional level of tactile feedback could be provided by a raised side wall around individual raised keys that could deform with each press, while an underlying layer could serve to "push" the key back into place.

Meanwhile, key symbols could lie on a separate later underneath the glass panel, which would make it easier to change the layout for different regions, languages, or even applications. The patent also proposes using side sections around the keyboard that could double up as a trackpad.

As expected, the glass keyboard could have the effect of making the keyboard thinner and allowing more room for other components to be housed in the notebook chassis.[*]How to Get a MacBook or MacBook Pro Keyboard Repaired Free Under Apple's Service ProgramApple has filed patents for keyboards in the past, included one that uses a touchscreen panel similar the Touch Bar, but that extends to the entire keyboard layout, but this is the first patent to emphasize the use of individually raised glass elements that mimic traditional tactile feedback.

If we are ignoring PRSI, those posts shouldn't show up in the Latest Replies section.

Actually, I'd like to be able to purge as much PRSI stuff from my field of view as possible.

It would also be nice if ignored users' posts didn't show up there either.

Two things that would make this work better:

1) Ignore forum - completely removes it form your view, posts also don't show up in the latest replies. The current feature is ambiguous and does not do this.
2) Ignored users - posts always show up in the latest replies, this should be ubiquitous.

I get that the board likely has no options for these features so it's hard to blame staff here but these are pretty standard on other boards. I get it's always a trade-off but modifications (in some cases just plugins) are available for these changes if you have someone able to implement them.

Can you remove or increase the limit on the number of users we can ignore?

On that note, is it possible to block a user, rather than just ignore them? When you ignore an abusive member, they can continue to troll your posts, you just don’t see them. That doesn’t solve the problem. Would be good to be able to block them entirely. I think it would help elevate the level of discourse on MacRumors. Abusive users would get blocked by a lot of people and ultimately have fewer and fewer posts to respond to.

Just testing something out…

EDIT: I posted four emoji and only the checkbox showed up. I wonder if the forums have been updated already.

EDIT 2: ☺️☹️☠️✊✌️☝️✋✍️‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️️‍♀️️‍⚕️‍⚕️‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍Of the first 275 "Smileys and People" emoji, these are the eight that show up. The rest are just shown as female and medical symbols. Interesting.

EDIT 3: ☘️⭐️✨⚡️☄️☀️⛅️☁️⛈☃️⛄️❄️☔️ of the 170 "Animals and Nature" emoji, these 13 are the only that show up.

I have a suggestion. The PowerPC forums are where I spend the majority of my time on here. Lately there have been a LOT of early intel posts in there, which is fine as we have more in common with them then the later intel people on here. But, It would be nice if they had a spot in the forums as well. Or maybe the PPC forum could expand off and be a sub forum for where the main forum is "Earlier Macs" or something along those lines.

I was about to create a thread asking for Dark Mode. But, performed a search and it led me here.
So, yes, please offer the choice for Dark Mode/Theme.

Thanks ;)

Can't wait to see it in action! Looks awesome!

One of my biggest pet peeves with dark mode on Macs is that so many websites don't yet have the option for the dark mode, so if you are trying to use dark mode in a dark room you still end up staring at a bright white screen. lol.

Not sure if you have noticed, but the Macrumors logo looks awful on Tapatalk dark mode.
