Sorry not sure if this is already reported, but couldn’t see it anywhere. When I exit Safari (i.e. go to the homescreen) whilst browsing the forums on my phone or iPad, when I go back to Safari there’s some bug where half the threads are dark and half light.

My devices both have Dark Mode enabled on iOS 13, but I am forcing the light forum theme.

Thank you for painting the header of each subform with the same color of the folders (e.g. Mac subforum is red, thus, the header had to be red as well), as the header on each section was blue. That was a bug that affected only the desktop view of the site.

Now my only suggestion is to have this gorgeous dark theme for the main website. I guess I'm not the only one who wants it.

If I have any other suggestion I will leave it here.

Cheers.

I used History all the time in the old forums. I can't find it anywhere.
Nice update. Thank you MR.

I do miss History. I don't always remember or want to watch a thread.

Also, the links to News Feed and Latest Activity are broken.

Same here, really nice work. 👍

Is History coming back?

History is back.

Speaking as a software developer, not an MR moderator, that looks like a background color selection bug, possibly related to CSS.

Notice that the items with the black background have white text for the thread name, which is what one would expect from a dark theme. But also notice that items with the white background also have white thread names, with the result that the names disappear as white on white.

I suggest clearing all MacRumors cookies, which will also log you out. Then after logging in again, choose the Light theme, and don't choose the Dark theme at all.

@arn

Hey, is it possible to get sorting options in subthreads, to sort by latest reply, latest thread, most replied, etc.

And also, a "newest threads" like we had in the old version, where you could see all the new threads across all sub-forums (not like what I can only find on the new version, New Posts. Similar, but for threads)

Thanks!

Really, I’m not one to complain, and I already mentioned I can understand that things change sometimes for the ‘better’ (Subjective word) to make the website more dynamic and fluid. But this new version to me is... broken, there are some nice things that were added on, altogether, it’s messy, seems half baked in some areas and I actually prefer the ‘dated’ version of the previous Xenoforo. However, there are some nice changes with adding dark mode, the website is more responsive when navigating to different forums, attachments don’t take nearly as long to upload, etc, but overall, this new update is a hard pass for me, but I still enjoy the website itself and members who are on here that are knowledgeable. It is what is.
I agree with this. I'm all for under the hood improvements too, but the visuals on this update seem messy in my personal opinion. The colour theme on both the light and dark themes don't seem to work. There needs to be a bit more contrast. I liked the colour set on the previous version much better.

Also, the new layout of the main forums page seems a big step backwards. The previous version with their categorised boxes and icons looked much more cleaner and easier to navigate than the current linear text list we have now. Was genuinely one of the best forum layouts I'd seen.

If we are going to make the forums look like a bag of Skittles exploded on it, why not do it all the way? The color of the dividing bars and forum titles should match the color of their respective sections:

Noticed that when returning to the main Forums list, the site ‘forgets’ which sections you’ve collapsed & need to collapse them each time you return to the main list as they’re all expanded.

Can this be fixed?

(I didn’t have this issue on the old site because of the quick access Forums drop down list - I hardly visited the main Forums list page).

Edit...
Well it just remembered the collapsed sections, so I’m not sure if it’s working across the board or if it’s just on Mobile Safari.

Nice work, Arn and team. I dig all the new stuff.

Don't know if it's locked in with the default XF package, but the AIM, Yahoo Messenger, and Google Talk identities on the Account Details page aren't really necessary anymore since they've all gone defunct. I'm surprised xenForo didn't strip those out for this new version. Besides that, I have no other suggestions, other than keep it up!

Thanks, have just tried that, but still have the same bug.

Someone said it above, but the lack of contrast for text is simply stupid and has driven me away.

The rest looks like something out of a kindergarten art class.

Not a fan of the new original poster marker, hard to distinguish, can we go back to the older way.

In light mode? Don’t feel like it’s far off from where we were.

@arn: I have just noticed that threads no longer state "thread starter" under the name of the poster who started the thread under the old system.

Is this intentional?

In general, I must say that I found it useful to note who had started a thread (especially if it developed into a long discussion).

I'm finding it very easy to read in dark mode. A much welcome change to the site.

Often I work in the evenings and night with low-light. I also work in a terminal shell a lot in a tiling window manager so most of my screen is dark and I also like to browse this site at the same time on half of the screen. When flipping tabs from dark sites to light sites it sucks.

There’s a blue circular icon to indicate the thread starter now.

Ah, thank you.

Quite candidly, I had never even noticed it, but - now that you have drawn my attention to this, I went back and checked a few threads, both ones I had started myself and those started by others, and yes, managed to discover the blue icon in question.

When viewing the forums in landscape mode on the iPhone XS Max, does anyone else’s notch cover text on the edges of the screen?

I tried to get a screenshot of it but iOS removes the notch when the image is saved.

@arn is this able to be fixed for those of us that view the forums in landscape mode with the notch?

Cheers BiscoDino

Yeah... my iPhone 11 Pro does that also.
Yep. We’ll get that fixed.

The ignore forum function is still useless. It wasn't so bad when the "new posts" list wasn't showing PRSI threads, but now that that garbage is in the list, it's a real turnoff to using this forum.

Is it possible to make all the forums viewable and tappable from the main page on the mobile view instead of a two-step process? For exmaple, the iMac forum isn't visible the main page in Safari my iPhone. I had to tap Desktops first, then the iMac forum on the next page.

Have signatures been removed from mobile view, or has it always been this way?
