Bah, the cold weather is keeping me in. Vancouver's being hit by freezing temperatures, and I'm too chicken to go outside anymore. I'm used to mild winters. Stupid climate change.

I'll see if I can get out for a run during the weekend, if the snow melts.

thanks. how do i convert again? divide by 2.2 or something?

5km to 3.1miles so 1.61km to 1mile

Too bad other users can't sync with the Nike+ system. I use my Garmin Forerunner to track mileage and run without music so purchasing the Nike+ doesn't make sense for me.

Did 8 miles in 60 minutes yesterday. The Forerunner's great since you can load the runs to the computer and view all the stats via MotionBased or look at your run on GoogleEarth.

Sample Run using a Forerunner

I'd wager we'll see a GPS iPod eventually. That's quite cool to see the run like that.

I'll be updating the stats tonight.

yeah, i wish we could do that with the ipod. i wish we could do offline tracking with some apple software as well as online

i thought you were updating the stats.......:)

I just did - you're now way ahead :D

I just had a 5k race yesterday and I have another next weekend, so I took off a couple days to rest before the race and your insane amount of running gap has really increased.

How much do you usually run a month? And what sort of pace?

D

how did the race go? that's good that you're racing :)

last month i ran/walked 188 miles.....i'm not quite on that pace now (i don't think)

running is usually around 7:00/mile or less....but walking is slow, like anywhere from 14:00/mile to 25:00/mile.

walking is good for your legs.....it lightly stretches your calves

I've got to get some run data in. My surgery on the 3rd appears to be doing ok with only minor pains. Since you have to keep your neck and head still while running anyway I should be able to get a light run/walk in.
:)

how did the race go?

it could have been better. I ran it in 23' 33" but was hoping for under 23'. I got caught in the crowd at the start - there were over 600 runners - and I couldn't seem to get a comfortable pace. I have another one this weekend, we'll see how that goes. But I just checked and even with that slow a pace, I managed to get 6th in my age group. My goal this year is to get a 5k under 20' and I haven't done that in more than 10 years...

got my kit today. If I can join this months still, please add. BigPrince

congrats on the kit :) you need to PM liketom to get added (i think that's his name - it's in the first post of this thread)

glad to hear things are good with your surgery :) just take it easy if you decide to do anything

If there are charity runs, where are they listed?

not sure what you mean by charity runs......like road races that you pay to run in for a cause?

well hey, that's close to under 23. keep your head up and try to use this competition thing to reach your goal. 600 runners is quite a bit though. under 20 min is doable.....keep your head up

and good luck this weekend :) let us know how it goes.....

When I was 24 or so I could do under 18'. Almost 20 years later its little more difficult, but I think I can get close :D

under 18 is pretty good. yeah i can image it be quite a bit harder 20 years later, but i know some can do it. and if they can, so can you :)

i'm not sure what i could do right now. in college we run 8K (which i hate)

Did my first run. Looks like I need to calibrate it. I highly doubt I did 2 miles in 20 min. I know thats very slow, but I am way outa shape. I was running on a mostly rocky surface with some incline and decline. Tomorrow I will try it out on a quarter mile track and see how accurate this baby is.

On my treadmill it would take me 25-35 min to run 2 miles. Again please no comments on how slow I am.

The ice storm here (St. Louis) has kept me from running for the past few days, but I ran this morning at work. I'll get around to updating my data eventually. I'm up to 1.5 miles at a time now, on my 7th run. My goal was 20 miles for the month of January (on the way to 400 for the year) and I believe I'll make that with a few miles to spare. So far...it's going well! :)

that's good that you're running. yeah, some of the rocks and hills might mess with the accuracy of the device. they are pretty accurate, but not exact. but you should calibrate it

good that you're running as well. glad to see that you should get to your goal.....and if you have access to a treadmill when it's bad weather.......

My goals are in 4 weeks to:

burn 5k calories or more (this was more of a guess then anything)

run 55 miles or more

run 20 times or more.

So I did my calibration today .5 mi run .5 mi walk and then did a whopping 9 minutes. That was really all over doing it I think given my recent neck surgery. I felt like crap actually but in the long run I know it's good. I uploaded run data to nike+, is this all that needs to happen to be included in the run data for the challenge?

good goals.......now you gotta stick with it :)

Most road races do benefit some charity.

Anyways just got back from 8.1 miles in 61 minutes. I was feeling real good this evening.

not a bad run......good job :)

it's ok to run just a little after a big surgery. i hope your recovery continues to go well :)

yeah that's pretty much all you have to do to get your run data into the challenge, after you're already in the challenge

Thanks alot. I think i'll have to stick to walking. This is the second neck surgery in 30 days and I am just hoping it heals this time around. It's no longer about how great it looks...though the plastic surgeon will say different.

I appreciate your motivation :)
