So this challenge finishes today, I'm trying hard to hold onto that number 10 spot, I finished top 10 in December so that's my goal. 9th is too far ahead of me but there are two less that 1km behind me!

YES as i found out many times - i do 2 x 1 mile run's or there and back :D Nike+ will count your first mile as your best - the iPod will count your best mile overall

I'm gunning for this one. I'm just going to go for a 1.6 km sprint one day and see how well I do. :p

My leg is fine, but my brand new Nike+ sensor is getting replaced because it doesn't work. Once it comes back, I'm going to try for this one and fail at the rest. :p

We already have a 5k for February - the one set up earlier this month goes to the end of February - so you might as well delete yours.

Thanks, liketom, for setting up the new challenges. I've received all of the them, but will only be participating in the regular February rumble and the fastest mile. I may be ready for a 5k race in the next month or two, and then a 10k after that. I'm looking forward to increasing my distance in February.
 
Thanks for setting them up - trying to get back distance and now there is the speed trap ;) - I am old and just use brute force to get through my 40-45 minutes. Adding spped may cause injury, but I joined up anyway. Just trying to drop some pounds. Trying to level off the distance for the next 3 weeks before going for an increase in distance or a decrease in time.
 
Once things get under way tomorrow and the current ones finish, I'll set up a thread and make it a sticky. Also I'll update the January ones with the final times and distances.

Accepted the challenges! Haven't really ran much since i damaged the ligaments in my ankle playing football, so not sure how much I'll do this month!
 
I'm going to go out today and run 5 miles but do it with the jogging stroller. Its going to be be very interesting to see how it affects my pace.

Smart thinking ziwi, I made the speed error and increased distance too quickly. My middle aged shin rebelled and sent me into an Ibuprofen buzz for the last few days. :(

This also means that anyone gunning for 4th place should run today with certainty that I will not be adding any more miles to my total. Good luck!

Might have a bash at this after I do my 5km tonight.

I had no idea - I was running 5.25 this morning and accepted the invite and there it is my slow pace of a mile...;) I am exposed...I am at the brute force of staying on the treadmill or outside for 40 to 45 minutes just for exercise, but I am sure with the mile I can get that time down. If I try to get the speed too fast at this point I will risk injury...just trying to shed some weight...but it is all motivation for me.

I hope I have not done the damage already. I looked back on my week to week performance and it starts at 6.75 miles for the week of 12/17 and last week I hit 27.4 so it is a bar graph that looks like a good cell phone signal...I need to ease up or level off for a few weeks - I am too old for this...;)
 
I am too old for this...;)

I've been running in 5k races the past couple years in my home town in Indiana and some 65+ guy keeps beating me. But I hadn't been working at improving my time.

The next race up there is in May I think - by then I'll be passing him I hope.

So how old is old? I'm 42.

And I managed a 7:12 minute mile for the first mile of the 5 mile run with the stroller :D I figured it would have slowed me down, but it didn't have much effect. If I can manage that pace for my 5k race on Saturday, I'll have a 22' 19" run - That would be quite nice...
