congrats on your run

congrats on your run......you'll get 20 miles easy......but don't stop there....keep going if you can.......:)

Thanks for the encouragement and the congrats, guys. I'll keep going. I hope to run at least 3 more times this week, and hit that 2 mile mark each time. I won't beat the January goal by a whole lot, but it's a start.

that's what i like to hear! now you just gotta stick to your word :)

you can do it ;)

See, that's what you get for performing too well, too early. Now people just expect these numbers from you. :p

On the flipside.......I just hurt my left leg badly playing footie and will probably not be running for.....I'm guessing 10 days. :(

Did I also mention that my transmitter doesn't work? The receiver attached to my iPod works, I think, but not the transmitter. So my leg is feeling a bit better and will be OK by next Wednesday, I'm guessing, but I won't have the Nike+ system working.

This just isn't working out as planned.

glad you're leg is getting better :)

sorry your transmitter isn't working. maybe you could try to press the little button on it?

if it makes you feel any better, i lost mine once and had to buy a new one

Glad to report that we are only 4 miles short of 1000 Miles this month
Total Miles :996

Well done all :) and welcome all newcomers

EDIT: Bad maths and a dodgy excel spreedsheet means we have 1010.77 miles

congrats all
:) :) :) :) :)

So as a group - should the month over month totals be the goal to reach in the subsequent months? What I am saying is that if we as a group run 1200 miles in January then our February goal would be to surpass that and then beit it again for March..etc.

Last night I ran a 5k after two hours of hockey. It sucked hard, but felt great.

isn't that how it's supposed to be? :p :D

i'm tellin ya, even after playing another sport, you can still run some.....

i'd be down for that .......i guess we'll see what everyone else says

Anything is good.

All I know is I am 38.5 and overweight (220LBS) and since I purchased the nike + on 12/21 I have been motivated by the goals and challenges to get back to running. I am happy that now 5 weeks into my return I am not suffering from the usual ailments (shin splints) that make me stop. I have dropped some weight and want to level off at 20 to 25 miles a week for the next 4 weeks...hopefully I can stay injury free. Just some muscle strain in one calf - I was also so motivated by not yet hurting myself that I invested in some nice shoes to help stabilize my stride until I can drop down some more need to get to 190 or in the 180's.

The attachment is great and the challenge and group is a great motivating factor - I hope everyone continues to add to our totals.

i agree. this is great for motivation...just be careful with your legs. i've had bad shin problems in the past (2 stress fractures), so i can say from experience....stretch your calves!

but congrats on running more.....and looking forward to more success :)

Nice work, ziwi. It amazes me, every time I get back into running, how quickly the miles begin to come. That first time, it's hard for me to do a mile, but fast forward just 30-45 days, and I'm running 3 at a time or more. 20-25 miles a week is GREAT!

Also, congrats on the shoe purchase. They will help tremendously!

EDIT: twoodcc, who are you referring to in your signature?

spent a few days in florida, so i wanted to take advantage of the nice weather for some runs. but rather than be dumb and further aggravate my foot injury, i ran only once (for around 5 miles, slowly) and let my foot rest most of the time. i may do some walking on a treadmill now that i'm back in the cold, but we'll see. in general, i hope that by next week my foot will be better and i can get back to it.

Allen Iverson. i put that in my signature when he was on the trading block (about a month or so ago)

Just remember February is a short month :D

I might not get out tonight - we'll see how it goes. :(

Got on my trendmill tonight, only went 1.05Miles...its just to cold for me outside...I'll try to go for another one early tomorrow moring

I mean I was not going to even run more then 2 miles at a time, and now I am doing 5k, which is a bit over three all because of the challenge.
