Back happening again this morning, guess youve turned ads back on and this is the first time Ive looked with the iPad, same occurs, repeatedly reloads the tab then crashes.

Hope the ad revenue is worth it.

Are you actually seeing ads when you are logged in?

Nope, it doesn't get that far, previously it would have to reload on say 1 in 3-4 loads, maybe more, maybe less. Then we had last week which was EVERY page load until you turned Ads off, now its back.

Or perhaps something related to https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/forums-upgraded-to-v1-5.1945548/ or some other unintentional glitch?

Possibly but if you read the thread it has been going on for a while and Arn had some indicators last week that it was possibly related to some regional ads running, hence the update, I'm sure there are some random issues introduced by the latest update (like I just needed to reload this page 3 times to get the Post Reply button to respond), but the ad-related symptom has come back exactly as it was, hence me updating Arn on it.

I mean when you login with your account on something other than that iPad.
It should be easy to verify if ads are running or not.

Using Safari, I get multiple 'page reloads' on forum pages, including in threads and also while replying to them (even in 'more options' mode). At times, a particular page or reply will 'reload page' multiple times. Sometimes after reloading I get logged out.

This happens on an iPad Mini(1). It's been about a month that it's been at its worse.

@arn
Is this expected behavior on this site, for this device using Safari?

Using MacRumors site on iOS 9.3.1 is still an annoying experience. While front page and forum overview work as expected, every single topic I'm visiting reloads multiple times. If I'm lucky, I can view the content on second or third reload, but often enough Safari gives up.

This has been an issue for me since I got this 4s with iOS 8. I have just given up on using MacRumors on iOS devices.

@Sko

The only way I've found around it for an older device is to not use Safari (even if you're a contributing member). On an iPad mini, currently at 9.2.1, I use iCab Mobile. It has numerous filters available*. I've selected all of them since I've installed it. The only drawback I've found from using the filters is that MR's rich text editor gets wonky. I shut it off -- post box --> upper right hand corner --> click the 'wrench' -- to post.

*A word of caution that iCab advises -- A couple of versions or so ago, iCab included additional filters such as Easy List for better blocking ability. Because of the lesser memory available in older devices, they shouldn't be used. A text list such as Easy List is too large and will overwhelm the device's memory.

Besides the filtering, iCab Mobile has many configurable options.
