Once they arrive in Apple Stores in the UK, and I get the chance to get my hands on one for five minuets I will make up my mind definitely. In my mind I am constantly justifying why I need one - but I need to make sure before I get my credit card out.

as soon as they add an iSight, yes.

This is such a massive hole in the spec as far as I'm concerned.

It would replace my laptop as a couch surfer if it had one and we would still be able to have skype video calls.

But without one, its just a massive iPod Touch with limited usage for me.

Waiting....to see if the iPad will become a replacement for the MBP, and if certain killer apps (like medical EHR) will become available for it.

I want to, and maybe I will by summer's end. But when I think about it, the price will really add up. Let's say I want the 32 GB iPad (the one I'll buy if I do get one). I want the case to go along with it and also Apple Care. That really adds up really quick. It's $599 for the iPad, plus another $29 I belive for the case, and $99 for AppleCare. That's $727 before tax, with tax adds another $50.89. And iPad apps are most expensive. So I don't know if I'm ready to spend $780 on an iPad. If there's an education discount, I might do it then if the deal is good enough.

Personally I'm waiting for 2nd gen (or at least see what the 4.0 OS brings). I do have a very low traffic best buy near my house that has one of those in store apple stores though. With all the hype this thing is getting I might swing by first thing tomorrow morning and try to pick one up to ebay.

Yup

Although in the UK, my work is getting 20 shipped from the New York Office to the London office - one of them has my name on it..

(That was not an option on the poll.. :) )

I may buy an iPod Touch since I could really use Daylite and Billings Touch, and since there aren't any iPad apps for it, I'll just wait until that happens, along with multitasking so it can REALLY see how the iPad is different from the iPod Touch besides being larger.

Another option needed

How about an option of "Waiting for 2nd gen iPad"?

I have yet to see Apple release a product that doesn't somehow punish the early adopters. Hopefully this time is different, but I'm not holding my breath.

Need another option

What about "No, and I never will!" ?
No need for an oversized iPhone.... waiting both for new MBP and MP :(

I really, really want one but just can't justify it right now. I need to see a lot more apps that I could use while (I'm a 5-12 band teacher). Sure there will be metronomes and junk, but I have a ton of those so I need to see more music creation types of things (notation software and marching band drill creation). It has so many possibilities. I almost had my wife talked into it until I told her the price and then she said.......(DRUM ROLL)......"What do you need a big iPod for?" I guess I'll wait for the gen. 2 version that will have a camera. :D

I'm getting a 3G. I'm really hoping this weekend will see the mentioning of a release date - I really want to go and pick up my iPad!

Regardless, I'm going this weekend to check out the launch at the Apple Store and play with one in person. I'm also going to sign in (as myself) on one of the demo units and buy my app (padBoard, it's a collaborative whiteboard) so that I can play with it on a real device.

I'm also going to photograph the Apple Store, I'm sure in a few years I'll laugh at it all, but it'll be interesting.

I currently have an iPhone. Everything that I find exciting about the iPad, I mostly already get via my iPhone. So, when I look at the iPad and think its very cool, I think it's because I like my iPhone so much. This is not a really good reason to get an iPad. I do like that it has a bigger screen. But, I'm not sold this is a solid reason for getting one either. I'll wait to see what the jailbreakers can do with it and then i'll reassess the situation.

Not version 1.0, at least. Just don't have the need for it. Everyone in our house is sorted for computers/macs. I will, however, be buying the new iPhone in June.

Waiting until Apple deigns to let us UK'ers buy one, when I'll be getting a Wifi model. Which is kinda "yes, but..."

Impatient, me? Not a bit of it... :D

You have video conference calls all the time while siting on your couch? The isight in my iMac is perfectly fine for the 1-2 video chats I have a month.

I'm not getting one until they include a toothpaste dispenser, seriously Apple, what were you thinking??? /s

64GB Wi-Fi for now, 64GB 3G in a month!
