People hanging out? But you just joined so you could say something negative … after your experiences with losing photos and apps on a SD card. Out of memory? You've seen that message?

Have you any idea what SD cards cost? My 64GB card cost more than $100 and is used for my photos in my 5DII. In my phone, my microSD card is used for photos and music - so I can have MY stuff where and when I want it. Apps are not on my card, so forget that little argument.

Those who agreed with you did so for the next to last paragraph.

Congratulations!
You are techie enough that you would NOT have come in to my store frustrated.... I don't have to "forget that little argument" though, Mr. Pompous, because I was relating a true story... NOT making something up. And yes, yes I've seen the "out of memory" message- many, many, many times. Pretty much on EVERY Android handset that comes with 2gb standard on the device. It's really not that hard to understand..... & once understood, it's easy to believe.
You do comprehend that there are such devices out there, right? Can they also (like you) ONLY save media on their cards & put all their apps handily on the 2gb internal?? No?? You were ONLY using yourself as an example & discounting all users with a different hardware setup?? Gotcha.

----------

You're very funny. So you've subscribed to a website called macrumors, yet you're surprised when you see rumors about the next iPhone.

Can we agree that SUBSTANTIATED rumors like "sneaky factory worker shares pic of 5.5" curved screen on Apple device" would be MUCH more fun to then speculate & ruminate about than an article that could literally have been written by any third grader, basically stating- "so..... we've got nothing to back it up, but we think the next iPhone will be bigger & faster"...?

----------

Why do you people come to a rumor site if you don't want rumors?

I think the point is.... We are used to rumors BASED on something (other than conjecture).

bigger screen is probably a given- too many bigger screen Androids are selling to ignore the fact that a fairly good size segment probably would choose iOS if they could have the bigger screen

Despite the constant claims otherwise, the numbers just don't support the idea that the iPhone's current screen size is in any way a detriment to its sales. The 'large screen' Android segment is, outside of Korea, a very small portion of phone sales.

I'll be surprised if Apple keeps ignoring wireless charging, but they'll come up with their own standard (ala the Sony strategy) so that everyone has to adapt (and pay Apple patent licensing fees). On a related note, the crowd here will bash the crap out of this idea until Apple seems very likely to roll it out and then it will be the best innovation ever.

If Apple ever *does* release a device with wireless charging (and I doubt they will any time soon), I suspect it will not use 'normal' induction power transfer, but will instead use a resonant inductive coupling. This is a relatively new technology which offers several advantages over typical induction charging, including range, *and* efficiency.

Apple will innovate the pay-with-your-phone concept further be that passbook or whatever. In other words, Apple will try to take big bite into using a phone in place of a credit card. Again, the Sony strategy requiring mass patent licensing will apply here too.

I agree that they'll expand on Passbook. I don't agree with the rest, since it seems kind of counter to how Passbook is set up now.

camera will improve

This is a no-brainer.

even thinner & lighter because Apple has spun that as some kind of meaningful benefit that it can't be stopped until all Apple hardware is paper thin. So, it will get thinner at the expense of any improvement in battery life and then those who need more battery will have to buy a separate piece of hardware (a battery case) to make the combined device thicker to have sufficient battery life.

Thin and light *is* an advantage (up to a point). I'm hoping they'll start taking some of the 'thinner and lighter' capabilities and using it to increase the physical size of the battery more.

6c colors will go mainstream colors and probably prove more popular… especially if they get the pricing right (which is not "only $100" off of 6s).[/QUOT]

Contrary to the people who whine about the colors, the 5c colors *are* mainstream colors. They're not 'pastels' (as is the common complaint), they're *muted*. Muted colors have the advantage of clashing less with other colors, which make them more suitable for use in combination with those other colors. (Who wants to buy a device in a color which just looks bad next to your other gear?)

more interaction without touching the screen will probably debut per the recent acquisition

Yep. More Siri capabilities is another no-brainer.

Apple will take a few good ideas from Android and the crowd here will gush at how those ideas were finally implemented right, call the "but android had this 2 years ago" posters trolls & similar, and then about 2 years later remember them as originally invented by Apple.

As opposed to the things that Apple implemented before Android that people later claim Android did *first* when Apple further expands on the idea. (eg: the constant refrain that Android had Siri's capabilities first because it had Voice Control a year *after* iOS.)

we'll still be waiting on iWork getting "updates" that brings back the functionality sacrificed with the "re-write".

You're using scare quotes incorrectly, they don't indicate a literal use of the quoted term as you've done here.

Expect rumors of some "signature software" feature of iOS8 that burns a lot of data. It seems every "next big thing" for iOS updates is a data-hungry app. Why? Because the partnerships with the data toll masters is much too important to not throw them the bone(s) of something else to burn a lot of data, get users to higher tier levels ever quicker, so those users can pay higher tier rates. I think the software innovation the last few years has been very biased to "what else could we create to burn through lots of data?" Think about it.

Strangely enough, most of the 'next big thing' apps for iOS *aren't* nearly as "data-hungry" as people first claim. (eg: People originally claimed that regular use of Siri would easily gobble up gigabytes of bandwidth, but it would take a concerted effort to get Siri usage to account for even a single GB over the course of a month.)

If the iPhone 5S will be replaced by the 6, what will the 5C be replaced by?

The 6C? Okay, then the 6 is replaced by the 6S and the 6C is replaced by...?

This is probably the least of everyones worries, but it crossed my mind :)

You're seriously asking why is he he surprised that MacRumors is running a rumors article on a product months and months and months before we are likely to see any leaks whatsoever??

Because you say "it's the norm for Apple.."???

Lol, what could this POSSIBLY mean? You are just stringing words together, bro. You do know that Apple did NOT contribute to this article, right? That they did NOT do anything whatsoever to warrant this early of a guessing game start? So... what is this "norm for Apple" that supposedly has context here?
It is the norm for Apple to have fans, unbidden, jump to wild conclusions and begin endless speculation WELL ahead of the time when they could conceivably have even shreds of evidence to back up their theories? If that's what you mean... I suppose I agree- although saying "it's the norm for Apple FANS" would be far, far more accurate. If you were trying to intimate that Apple somehow encourages the undermining their own flagship products & trying to get consumers to wait for a future iteration of their products only two months into the life cycle of said product.... I'm disinclined to agree with you.
yup

How about giving users a choice? They're not going to shrink back to the pre-5 size, but offer the current one AND a larger one. I just had a Galaxy Note 3 for a few weeks and it was so great! Big screen and still fit in my pocket. Could pair with BT keyboard and mouse to act as a tiny laptop! My 5s seems so tiny now.

This is exactly what I want to see, an iphone that I can connect a keyboard and mouse to and use as a mini pc. I wish ios would allow mouse/trackpad support for all devices. This is the one thing I admire about android devices. Screen size doesn't matter to me but would like to be able to hook it up to a tv as monitor.

I wouldn't be surprised if we just see regular updates to the "C" model that, in effect, just puts the one-generation-prior internals in a cheaper casing. The question is whether or not they'll go down to just two models when they release the 6. It would make sense to do:

5C (with current 5C internals), 8gb - $449, free on contract
5C (now with 5S internals ), 16gb - $549, $99 on contract
5C (now with 5S internals), 32gb - $649, $199 on contract
6, 16 gb - $649, $199 on contract
6, 32 gb - $749, $299 on contract
6, 64 gb - $849, $399 on contract

Make it proportional stop with this long narrow thing!

Maybe it will look like this? :D:D

I think biometrics will play a bigger role, I believe there will be new screen sizes, but most of all I think the next iPhone will differ from the iPhone5 more than the last one did. it will have at least one feature that we all want......

I forgot how much better and more elegant iOS 6 looked... This makes me sad. :(

I have to agree that in some ways iOS 6 did look better. It jumped out at you more than iOS 7 does, IMO. Personally I thought that iOS was getting a bit stale, but I don't think that 7 was what I was expecting.

Gets even more confusing if they do indeed bring out an additional model with a larger screen. What's that going to be called, the 6x? Maybe they'll finally ditch the numbers and give each one a name like they do with all their other products now.

----------

I doubt they would use it in the iPhone 6. It is 100% going into the iWatch.

I don't think they'll call it the iWatch. I think they'll re-imagine the iPod as a wearable device with various forms including a watch or wrist band.

So you can't explain why you believe that phones are the only device that should be one-sized.

This has nothing to do with what "I believe" I'm simply telling you that's how it's been.

Sorry, if you can't explain or prove what you're saying then it's just your opinion, what you "believe."
On the other hand, all smartphone manufacturers such as Samsung, HTC, LG, Motorola, etc... make several sizes of each model they release, which seems to prove that, like for any other product, consumer have different needs. This is how it's been.

You're confused. Learn how to read. Did the 3.5" 4S get updated internals when the 4" 5 came out? Did it get updated when the 4" 5S came out?

Thanks for playing.

If the new iPhone gets any bigger I will not be able to use it with one hand!....I will have to press the buttons with my nose or maybe even my spare hand.

Dreadful.

iPhone 6 Screen

@MacRumors, if Apple was quick enough to adopt the LTPS technology particularly for the iPhone screen 'coz iPhone is their main business .."and you know that" even before iPad made a switch to IGZO (and compromise is something I've never seen for this segment 'coz as u know). Why the hell r u that sure Apple will stick to LTPS display and not adopt the 'Quantum dots-display' for the iPhone screen. It is one tech that is a generation to LCD giving capabilities beyond LEDs that Apple always believed for their LCD philosophy.

Pls, this is something worthy needed mentioning to people.

That's never gonna happen. The first two points at least, the third maybe and the last 2 eventually.
