Why are you so surprised? it's the norm for Apple..

You're seriously asking why is he he surprised that MacRumors is running a rumors article on a product months and months and months before we are likely to see any leaks whatsoever??

Because you say "it's the norm for Apple.."???

Lol, what could this POSSIBLY mean? You are just stringing words together, bro. You do know that Apple did NOT contribute to this article, right? That they did NOT do anything whatsoever to warrant this early of a guessing game start? So... what is this "norm for Apple" that supposedly has context here?
It is the norm for Apple to have fans, unbidden, jump to wild conclusions and begin endless speculation WELL ahead of the time when they could conceivably have even shreds of evidence to back up their theories? If that's what you mean... I suppose I agree- although saying "it's the norm for Apple FANS" would be far, far more accurate. If you were trying to intimate that Apple somehow encourages the undermining their own flagship products & trying to get consumers to wait for a future iteration of their products only two months into the life cycle of said product.... I'm disinclined to agree with you.

IM really hoping for a semi annual release schedule starting with the iphone 6.

I would love to see the iphone 6 in spring and an iphone 6s in fall of 2014.

To all those worried about handling the size of the iphone 6, I'm pretty sure when they release the bigger iPhone they'll make an iPhone mini as an extension to the iPhone 5S line.

I believe Samsung did so too with their Galaxy phones.

I’m hoping for a larger screen, I skipped the 5s because of this. If the 6 doesn’t have a larger screen, I’ll buy another phone.
Ideally Apple should release one phone with larger screen and a smaller one like the iPhone 5 so people can choose one screen or the other. But I hope with the larger screen the price doesn’t rocket , the iPhone is already expense as it is. I would have to think twice if I really want to pay a premium for a larger screen when I can have other phones with larger screen cheaper

I would like a....
five point something inch screen so I can do RDP sessions without the need for a tablet
water/splash proof so I can make calls in the rain without voiding the warranty(!)
128gb would be nice

You keep comparing phones to laptops. They weren't the same the first time, they aren't the same now and they won't be the same should you make the comparison again.
The comparison is simply to show that there's different sizes of the same product for different usages. Why would phones be the only product to be one-sized?
If you're going to compare them, then lets keep it apples to apples. Do you think Apple is going to take the 4S and update it's internals to be current? That's what they do to laptops. Even today, you can't get an up-to-date iPhone with a 3.5" screen, what makes you think it will happen when the iPhone 6 is released?
And where did I say that Apple will go back to a 3.5" screen? It seems pretty clear that going forward, 4" will be their smallest mobile device.

----------

I thought Apple was almost done with 3.5" iPhone? You see the one and only model you can pick up now is the good old 4S and you know it will be EOL-ed next year, along with 30 pin dock products.
It seems pretty clear that going forward, 4" will be their smallest mobile device.
Just like 17" laptops, smaller screen on a phone is getting obsolete.
So bigger screens for laptops are getting obsolete (they're not, many manufacturers are still releasing new 17 inch models) but for phones it's the opposite? Based on what?

I'm hoping jony I've has really been pulling out the stops for the next iteration. He's basically had only the 5c to deal with iPhone wise as 5s was minor colour choices only.

The 6 IMHO will be two sizes, at a push three sizes.

4.5 inch 16:9 screen massively reduced bezels removal of the home button somehow is what i really want to see.

6 inch 16:9 screen, razor thin, large screen size helps reduce battery depth.

fingerprint sensor maybe integrated into the screen itself.

I think maybe these things aren't yet possible to achieve,

My prediction is if they make two sizes of the iPhone and price them the same, the larger phone will outsell the current size.

if thats your need you might have to look elsewhere.

im surprised apple still dosent sell a 4gb

It always amazes me that there are people that hang out on tech websites that don't grasp the vast difference between technologies like solid state drives & micro sd cards, lol.

I remember the annoyance during the 2 years I worked for Verizon of helping users shift around dozens of apps between their slow/lame sd cards & their "real" memory, so that things would run correctly.... and then explaining why when they removed the sd card & left it in the printer at home, half of their apps suddenly quit working.. and of course fixing all the error messages from the cheap manufacturers that only include 2gb of "good" memory & rely on the cheap & inferior sd card for their claim of how much memory the phone has. Especially annoying as core apps slowly started to exceed that size & since they CANNOT be shuffled to the sd card, the user would CONSTANTLY get an "out of space" message, even though they have over 90% of their memory free on their sd card. And..... the VERY worst- the (rare, but significant) about a dozen times someone had their cheap sd card COMPLETELY fail & either refuse to be read without first formatting or simply crap out altogether deleting all of their precious photos. Ugh..... God, that sucked.
I (like all of you, I'd wager) also wish that the Apple ssd memory jumps were cheaper than $100 each doubling.
However, I would NEVER take the sd card cheapness as a trade off. Glad Apple has eschewed that... and offers larger ssd capacities than ANY other manufacturer.

People hanging out? But you just joined so you could say something negative … after your experiences with losing photos and apps on a SD card. Out of memory? You've seen that message?

Have you any idea what SD cards cost? My 64GB card cost more than $100 and is used for my photos in my 5DII. In my phone, my microSD card is used for photos and music - so I can have MY stuff where and when I want it. Apps are not on my card, so forget that little argument.

Those who agreed with you did so for the next to last paragraph.

Not to mention the use of 'Quantum dots-display' in the next iPhone.

How many of u know the current iPhone of 2013 uses LTPS display?
Many people are hoping when IGZO would finally arrive to iPhone 'coz people still believe IGZO is the latest technology 'coz used by Apple as sites like 9to5mac & MacRumors 've publicised a lot how it would enhance the iPad and be used everywhere like Mac.

So, what's so fuzz about Quantum dots-display? It's something that uses Quantum Physics to begin with, as said by "displaymate.com"

Something better in what a LCD & any LED does their best. Brightness or Colour & efficiency respectively.

Based on what I already pointed out to you, you just don't want to see it. You were the one talking about how perfect the 3.5" was so I used that as an example. There were zero updates to 3.5" phones when the 4" came out. You simply had the option of buying an old phone. Laptops don't work that way. I wasn't kidding when I said, should you decide to compare a phone to a laptop again, it still won't be the same.

that huge iPhone looks hideous, Apple is spitting on Steves legacy if they put out something like that.

why would you possibly believe a dumb mockup has anything to do with apple designs? how many iterations will it take?

Rumors be damned

I don't particularly know or care what the "iPhone 6" rumors are. Whatever.
Here's my 2014 iPhone wish list, in order of decreasing wish-factor.
(And yes, I'll be eligible for an upgrade in September.)

1. OLED display panel with IGZO conductors.
2. Thinner enclosure (made possible by the more efficient OLED/IGZO panel.)
3. Wireless EarPods.
4. Liquidmetal enclosure, highly polished, in medium gray or bright silver.
5. Slightly larger screen: 4.7" to 4.9" diagonal.
6. Higher screen resolution: 1920x1080 "HD" resolution.
7. Synthetic sapphire touchscreen surface.

Yeah, that's a lot to ask. But they're all doable (over time, if and when economical.)

I don't want a giant pad-like iPhone. It needs to fit comfortably in my front left jeans pocket, even when I'm sitting. (No, not hipster jeans. Levi's 501 shrink-to-fit.) Bigger screen with nearly the same overall dimensions would be great. And that would be possible if Apple can somehow reduce the width of the bezels on the long edges. So the touchscreen surface would extend right up to the metal edge. Bigger screen, little or no increase in overall device size.

And, if Apple does increase the 2014 iPhone's resolution, that same screen technology could be used in the "iWatch." I don't think an "iWatch" would be possible (with decent battery life) without an OLED screen that uses IGZO conductors.

Also, I doubt Apple would ship any wrist-top device with wired earbuds. So maybe the 2014 iPhone launch would be a good time to release bluetooth earbuds, before the "iWatch" rollout. But that's a different topic.

Finally, a Liquidmetal enclosure might be tough enough to eliminate the need for cases. Not the serious cases. Just those designed to prevent scratching and scuffing. Because the Liquidmetal would have no coating, there would be nothing to wear off (the way the current anodized aluminum layer wears off the edges of the iPhone 5 / 5S.)

There are other benefits to Liquidmetal, especially in manufacturing, because Liquidmetal can be injection molded like plastic. Far less complex machining. It doesn't need to be melted all the way down to a molten state to be recycled and formed, so it uses less energy than recycling aluminum. And maybe Apple could hype their iPhone recycling program more, to recapture more of that Liquidmetal for recycling.
