Hey Macrumors! This is the first edition of the MacRumors Scavenger Hunt.

It's rather simple. I will start of by giving you a task, for example:

"Hold up a piece of paper that says MacRumors 9/19/2011 in front of a mcdonalds".

Whoever completes this and posts it first is the next one in charge. You will give a task to do that involves taking a picture. The person will then hold up a sign/piece of paper with the date and MacRumors on it so that we know it was taken and not "googled".

For each task completed you get 1 point.

Here are some rules:

1) No photoshop.

2) Please only post pictures of YOU holding the sign up this way you will actually have to go out and take a picture if necessary (or if you've got the time..which, judging by some of the posts counts here... I think some of us do. )

3)No dupes - let's be creative.

4) If you are the poster who meets the picture challenge, please put your next request in a BOLD and BIGGER font so it's easy to find.

5) IF the challenge isn't met within 3 days the person who put the challenge up then has 12 hours to complete the challenge themselves. If they cannot complete their own challenge, they are docked one point and then pick a new challenge.

Trying this rule out:

That being said we need a time frame that the challenge winner has to post a new one and if they don't we need a statement of what happens next.

IMO it should be 24 hours starting Monday's at 8am through Friday at 8pm. Anything posted between Friday at 8pm and Monday at 8am has 48 hours to reply.

If the challenge winner fails to reply within 24 hours during the week and 48 on the weekend the previous challenger will then post a new challenge to keep the game moving and the challenge winner who failed to post within the time frame will be deducted a point.

6)No challenge is to be made that involves any of the following:

* illegal activities (this includes, but is not limited to: guns, drugs, street racing, thievery, and sexual activities involving minors).
* currency (the participants of this game will not be limited to those with immediate access to large amounts of funds.
* Destruction of one's own property or any piece of public property
*for the slow people who haven't realized it... no nudity melrose

I got the idea on a BMW forum I'm on. We do missions and our e9x's have to be in the pic to get a point.

Some examples are here:

E9x Picture GAME!!!
------

We will play until 12/31/11. Whomever has the most points at that time will be the MacRumors Scavenger Hunt First Edition Champion!

There is no need to sign up and you can join in at anytime.

If you win a task then simply put your point count in your signature. At the end we will tally it up (hopefully we can keep a running tally) and declare 1st, 2nd and 3rd place!

----------

The one who posts the task will declare if it is a pass or not. If they aren't available it will take two active participants to ok the picture; if the picture is disputed by two or more active participants the challenger must confirm it (whichever occurs first).

First task:

Let's see someone take a pic of a redbull can next to their Macintosh. Remember please hold up a piece of paper that has the date and Macrumors written on it in the pic somewhere.

Happy hunting!

What if you dislike McDonalds ?

Serious question :)

That was only an example and you don't have to eat there. Just a task.

Why it have to be Redbull?? No love for Monster??

Screw the OP. Whoever waves their thing in front of a McDonald's and says, "This is what it's all about!" will be given a cookie.

I was about to say... this thead looks awful familiar to the 3 series picture game. I'm Un1x3384 on E90Post, yet to get a point in the picture game :)

EDIT: why not just take a picture of a Macintosh in various places rather than a "Macrumors X/X/2011" sign? Most people on Bimmerpost own a BMW, an many people on Macrumors own a Mac. Yeah, iOS device owners would be left out, but taking a picture of an iPhone would make it too easy (iPads could maybe be allowed).

I really hope this thread takes off. As shown by the 6000 post BMW forum thread, this game can be extremely addictive, fun, and competitive.

I am so going to lug around a G3 iMac and Mac Classic with me.

That's a BMV specific forum, while this is a Mac forum, which includes iPods, iPads, and iPhones. I don't really own a Mac, and with your car, it's usually somewhere near you.

I think this kind of leaves out some people who either have desktops, like stated above, or have an iPhone or just plain enjoy these forums but don't own a Mac.

I want this to be a fun thread and game for everyone regardless of what they own.

Edit: yeah you can't play if you don't have a camera, bite me :p

Ten minutes and I'll have the first one up W00T

Do I have to be in the pic ?

[edit]

Here we go

[/edit]

Now.
Next hunt

A photo of you holding the MacRumors Scavenger hunt sign up in front of you standing next to a genius guy in a Mac Store.

Dated before 9/21/11

AWESOME! +1 to Peace.

FYI: You are always more than welcome to be in the pic, however, to help out with privacy the sign is a way to show that it wasn't a googled picture so anyone participating is more than welcome to put the sign in the pic and stay anonymous.

----------

You know just any Apple product (I'm sure most people here have one) at ____ location would make for a kind of fun game.

Absolutely. I just don't want to single people out. Not everyone here has an Apple product, even some of the long term contributors.

Being a MacRumors forum I think it's kind of neat to have the MacRumors Scavenger Hunt on a piece of paper.

It also shows effort and proves that it wasn't a googled image. So many pictures with Apple products in them people could easily google or photoshop.

You say nothing in the rules about posting nudity. What if I took a nude pic of myself doing the task at hand? Or what if I don't want to remove clothing, and you specify a task that requires it?

I jest. Sounds like a cool idea. :)
