Yes, me too, I can only choose PayPal, but want to use my credit card. Is there something special I have to do to be able to pay with my CC?
Get a PayPal account like I did, then pay with Paypal. It's as simple as that. You might be able to do it without registering, but I'm not 100% sure about that. Check the page that comes up when you click the Pay via Paypal button.

Wow, the flood of new Demi-Gods is impressive, and great to see from a support point of view!

As a previous poster said though, it's a little odd, as I know some Demi-Gods which have been Demi-Gods for a long time, some new DGs which have been around for ages, and new DGs who are essentially newbies, yet have the same designation now as the others!

And I was debating making a contribution myself, but now that actually having a processor ranking is becoming more of a rarity, maybe I should hold onto it! ;)

Seriously, great to see all the support for such a great site - MacRumors deserves it, we have an excellent community here. :cool:

Promote yourself, my friend. Add a little something under your name, or add a signature of some sort. :)
Well, I kind of liked to see the contributor title under wdlove. I mean how many post does he have? +13000? IMHO, that commitment deservs a personal title. Perma-contributor?
In some sense I think knowing this guy has been around for a while gives this community stability if you know what I mean.
I will pay my own contribution to this site as soon as get around to see how it is done. However, the title makes me a bit uncomfortable. I would feel much better getting it after a coule of years, not now.
Same goes for this carze to get an avatar. I just dont get it.
To me, this site is a source of information and a place where I can have seemingly endless discussions about the optimal brewing temperature of coffee. (ok, so I was accused of being an über barrista, but what the heck...)
It is not about a generic title, nor about sporting an avatar... :rolleyes:
of course as always, just my opinion.

I was about to ask about that. What does the 68040 stand for?

It's my processor ranking. Once you hit 500 posts, you become a 6502. From there, the list is as follows:

65816 => 1000 posts
65832 => 1500 posts
68000 => 1505 posts
68010 => 2000 posts
68020 => 2005 posts
68030 => 2500 posts
68040 => 3000 posts

And 601 at 5000 posts, I believe. There are higher rankings, but it is rumored and speculated that the next ranking isn't until 10,000 posts. :eek: So after that, there would be the 603, 603e, etc, etc. until you eventually hit the 74xx series and then into the more current processors. And then maybe at 50,000 posts I'll be a 970... ;) :cool:

As has been mentioned before, if someone is here to try and accumulate posts and rankings, they're here for the wrong reasons. (And I'm not directing that at you in any respect ;))

believe me i am not here for that. and i pity anyone who is going to waste time of their life trying to make themselves feel good about how they are ranked on an internet forum. just fun to see how long people have been posting on this site. i just got my mac in march and i know i will be a lifer from here on out. someday i would like to see how far i can go back and read threads from 2001, and just see what problems occured back then. well i just hope i can say i look forward to being everyones MR friend for a LONG time :cool:

Well said. It's nice to have you as "part of the family", I hope you enjoy your Mac experience from here on in. :cool:

I have seen a lot of new names recently and its nice to see them post and not sit as a newb for 3 years.

So is there anything other than Demi-God/Godess or Contributor (or God, obviously)? I don't want to start a whole thing, but I was just curious. Also, any news on mugs or t-shirts? I might want to buy something like that, whether it affected status or not. Might be more trouble than it's worth, but I know ATAT sells all sorts of stuff to raise money.

The only others I can think of are "Moderator" and an occasional special temporary title for a contest winner.

Well good to have the controbuting back..... :rolleyes: ;)

I don't want this to turn into a thinksecret vs macrumors or macrumors vs other site argument.

ThinkSecret and MacRumors enjoy a very good relationship and I don't think anyone has to choose one or the other.

arn

I completely agree - but your site is FAR better and has a much greater credibility with me. I like how rumor and speculation is presented here.

How do you become a mod :confused:

Few have been chosen. Called and lifted from the ranks of mere poster to the rariefied and lofty heights of mod-dom.

Or on the other hand, you could just beg like edesignuk did. :D :p

I'm in. Thanks for getting this setup again - I've been waiting for awhile now. Figure it's about time I pay for the privilege of boring you all with my posts...

Oh OK, thanks.......well now I know how :p

MacRumors doesn't really have a need for new moderators now. As the community grows, I'd suspect that a need for additional moderators will surface.
