Couldn't it be worth considering to "promote" people that have been around for a couple of years?
Get a PayPal account like I did, then pay with Paypal. It's as simple as that. You might be able to do it without registering, but I'm not 100% sure about that. Check the page that comes up when you click the Pay via Paypal button.Veldek said:Yes, me too, I can only choose PayPal, but want to use my credit card. Is there something special I have to do to be able to pay with my CC?
Well, I kind of liked to see the contributor title under wdlove. I mean how many post does he have? +13000? IMHO, that commitment deservs a personal title. Perma-contributor?voicegy said:Promote yourself, my friend. Add a little something under your name, or add a signature of some sort.![]()
I was about to ask about that. What does the 68040 stand for?~Shard~ said:Wow, the flood of new Demi-Gods is impressive, and great to see from a support point of view!
As a previous poster said though, it's a little odd, as I know some Demi-Gods which have been Demi-Gods for a long time, some new DGs which have been around for ages, and new DGs who are essentially newbies, yet have the same designation now as the others!
And I was debating making a contribution myself, but now that actually having a processor ranking is becoming more of a rarity, maybe I should hold onto it!
Seriously, great to see all the support for such a great site - MacRumors deserves it, we have an excellent community here.![]()

~Shard~ said:It's my processor ranking. Once you hit 500 posts, you become a 6502. From there, the list is as follows:
65816 => 1000 posts
65832 => 1500 posts
68000 => 1505 posts
68010 => 2000 posts
68020 => 2005 posts
68030 => 2500 posts
68040 => 3000 posts
And 601 at 5000 posts, I believe. There are higher rankings, but it is rumored and speculated that the next ranking isn't until 10,000 posts.So after that, there would be the 603, 603e, etc, etc. until you eventually hit the 74xx series and then into the more current processors. And then maybe at 50,000 posts I'll be a 970...

~Shard~ said:As has been mentioned before, if someone is here to try and accumulate posts and rankings, they're here for the wrong reasons. (And I'm not directing that at you in any respect)
buryyourbrideau said:believe me i am not here for that. and i pity anyone who is going to waste time of their life trying to make themselves feel good about how they are ranked on an internet forum. just fun to see how long people have been posting on this site. i just got my mac in march and i know i will be a lifer from here on out. someday i would like to see how far i can go back and read threads from 2001, and just see what problems occured back then. well i just hope i can say i look forward to being everyones MR friend for a LONG time![]()
The only others I can think of are "Moderator" and an occasional special temporary title for a contest winner.solvs said:So is there anything other than Demi-God/Godess or Contributor (or God, obviously)?

arn said:I don't want this to turn into a thinksecret vs macrumors or macrumors vs other site argument.
ThinkSecret and MacRumors enjoy a very good relationship and I don't think anyone has to choose one or the other.
