Become a MacRumors Supporter for $50/year with no ads, ability to filter front page stories, and private forums.
I think Arn needs to make a tote board of how much money has been donated today.

I wanna contribute!! But I cant pay CC!!

You should have a mail-in thing, I'd pay my own US $$

this doesn't work for me on safari (preferred browser), but does on firefox.

safari v1.2.3
firefox v1.0
osx 10.3.4

on safari, i get sent to the all-text page that tells me to clear cookies and re-login. i did. it didn't work (returned me to that page). i quit safari, same issue.

each time i go to https://www.macrumors.com/members/ , i get that same page (titled "MacRumors.com - No Ad Member Area").

Changing it now would not be fair to all the people who had to get to 500 posts. I say it stays where it is for everyone. More reason to stick around.

Having the avatar limit moved to 300 for contributors wouldn't be such a bad ideal I think, maybe even 250.

Why? If you're going to participate and contribute content on a regular basis, you'll get to 500 posts all in good time. What's the rush? Are you more concerned with being a part of the community or with having a little picture under your name? Patience is a virtue, just wait and you'll eventually get one. :)

Don't be a hypocrite. This site would barely exist without Think Secret.

Say what?

Think Secret doesn't make a point by talking about Apple patents that often.

Think Secret never reported the "powerbook G5" found in the html code on the Apple website.

Think Secret never speculates about what videos in iTunes could mean.

Macrumors is driven mostly by user submissions and actual investigation - Think Secret happens to be a BONUS to Macrumors on occasion because they ILLEGALLY AND UNETHICALLY conspire to obtain news that has for the most part turned out to be true and therefore gets macrumors a few hits for recycling the headlines that come from there.

I give Think Secret NO CREDIT for Macrumors being the great site that it is. However, Think Secret owes a lot to arn for giving people a second look at the headlines.

Cool, i have just opened a Pay-pal account, you will be getting my monies very soon. Thanks for the upgrade and keep up the good work..

Peace

I kind of drifted over here to ventilate my thoughts about coffee, law suits, and McDonald's... Do people talk about computers here???
Amazing! :p

Just Last Week...

...I posted that I would contribute if given the option: Had to be a man of my word. It feels great to contribute...

To those of you wanting lower post counts for an avatar if you contribute... I have to disagree. That should be a mark for anyone in this forums: contributor or not. It took me 3 years to get an avatar, but that's not why I have stuck around this whole time, or why I contributed.

Anyway, here's to another 50,000 or who knows how many members there are now!

I was in the 11-12k range...

What happens in this so-called "private" forum?

Nothing much, I think.

I mean, it's not like the dark room off to the corner where kids go make out at HS dances... or maybe it was and they've now cleaned it up a bit...

I found some old posts from some dude named AplhaTech there. He and this guy named BritBoy were hellions and a lot of fun. Wonder what happened to them?

Yes, me too, I can only choose PayPal, but want to use my credit card. Is there something special I have to do to be able to pay with my CC?

I set up my credit card in PayPal. Also, PayPal now gives you the option paying by credit card without creating an account. Should work pretty smoothly.

thinksecret vs macrumors

I don't want this to turn into a thinksecret vs macrumors or macrumors vs other site argument.

ThinkSecret and MacRumors enjoy a very good relationship and I don't think anyone has to choose one or the other.
