It’s happening for me on iOS 14.6.A post has raised a question.
Is this an iOS 15 issue? Are those experiencing problems on iOS 15?

iOS 15 Speculation Thread
Yes, there is that issue going on. But I moved my thinking from device to content blocker now, I am sure he is using some or the other blocker, so it might be that his blocker of choice is having issues with the site. (@arn, for your investigation, those having issues might, just might, be...forums.macrumors.com
This thread suggests that the problem started with iOS 14.5 or 14.6

If you're getting terrible battery life on your iPhone, it's not because of iOS.
Seeing a lot of people saying they've been having terrible battery life on iOS 14.5 and onwards on their iPhones, I was one of them. Turns out macrumors is having some issues on their site/forums which is draining peoples battery like no tomorrow, they are working on a fix. Decided not to use...forums.macrumors.com
Problem is back again, phone getting warm and battery draining like no tomorrow, content blockers aren't helping like before, wouldn't hold you breath for a fix, it got swept under the rug last time, it's the ads causing the battery drain.Mine heated up a ton last night while browsing - iPhone 12 Pro Max on the latest 14.7.1. Thought I was crazy until I came across this thread. It seemed to get better after a phone reboot, but then I was browsing again and it came back. As soon as I closed the tab out on Safari the phone cooled down and battery life was normal.
The ad network has been testing but it’s hard to reproduce.
If someone here can reliably make it happen, if you can record a session where it happens, it would help track it down.
Not sure how long a video that would require to show excess drain, but if you can do it, Dropbox or iCloud it to me: arn@normalkid.com
Posted screen shots the last time it happened, came back and said couldn't find out what the problem is, people have said the types of ads on these forums are very resource hungry, seems like nothing was done about them.@arn offered to troubleshoot this, I would not call that "sweeping it under the rug". Did you send him a video as he requested?
No need for a video, some users found out what the problem was last time, it's the type of ads on here that is the problem when it comes to heat and battery drain, one of them put up a cpu usage graph with the ads on and off, with them on his cpu load was huge compared to them being off.My point was, @arn made a specific request for someone to send him a video to help with troubleshooting. It appears that nobody took him up on it.
Have you seen the reviews for taptalk lol, no thanks, the site and forums were working perfectly a while ago, no reason why they can’t again.Use Tapatalk. You can’t expect them to fix the site right away and when it comes to ads, there may not be a way to fix it without getting rid of them. Tapatalk works fine.
