A few things for everyone here to chew on.
I asked the MacUpdate people to clarify on their site that they are selling old versions of software. They said no. They will not clarify or make it obvious that they are selling old software.
The only possible motive for this deception is profit. They would sell fewer bundles if they noted old versions as old.
I think it's useful for the public to know that not only does MacUpdate (a site that specializes in telling you if software is out of date) forget to tell you the software they are selling is out of date, they also sign you up for a recurring subscription to their service. Your credit card with get auto billed again in 6 months.
Once again, not making the auto-billing for their service obvious can only be motivated by increasing revenue at the cost of honesty.
The majority of people buying the bundle will think they are getting current software, when that is absolutely not the case. The bundle would still be a good deal for the majority, but honesty in letting people know they need to upgrade to be current would go a long way.
Personally I think this is grounds for a class-action lawsuit, especially considering the function the MacUpdate site provides.
