Nope, as I said before, if it didn't get a new type of battery, it wouldn't have been worth mentioning!

It is only worth time at a keynote speech if there is something MORE to announce than a simple update!!
Mac mini with better CPU, grfx, HD.. is NOT anything new. It simply is an upgrade!!
Last year the Mac Pro' 08 with 1600 MHz FSB, 8-Cores, GeForce 8800 GT card etc. was not announced @ MWSF, but silently upgraded one week before!
Please, people, try to understand!

If something new like a new form factor, or new hardware feature is there then it gets time on stage.

Sorry, but your reasoning makes no sense to me. I hardly think that an internal battery, a la MB Air, makes the 17" MBP (whose other specs are similar to the already selling 15" version) keynote-worthy, in contrast to a completely revamped mini which legions of fans have been waiting for for ages. One gets the feeling that Apple is trying to tick off its long-time loyal customers, yet again.

When I try to watch the 2009 MWSF Keynote on my iPhone I get the October 2008 notebook announcement instead. :(

Also... the podcast of the keynote isn't available yet.

Same, except I'm on my iPod. I don't have my Mac with me.

Is this happening to anyone else watching on your computer, or is it just on iPhones and iPod Touches?

No disrespect to Phil who I think did an excellent job filling Steves shoes.. but that has to be the most boring keynote/list of product announcements ever.

iLife, iWork and a new macbook pro (with the amaaazing battery)... yeah great..

I think any Mac fan who had signed up to go to Macworld, would be disappointed with that keynote as an intro... compared to some of the ones of the past few years. Not to mention it's the last it should have gone out with a bang not a whimper!

Im sure im repeating what other people have probably said in this thread but yeah what about the mac mini, iMac, iPhone nano, cinema displays... anything?!

No revolutionary new products in sight... is it all down hill now?

same with me on my ipod touch. I would give it a couple more hours, maybe 2 or 3 hours.

(Insert generic complaint about lack of effort from Apple at MW here)

I'm pretty dissapointed with no iPhone capacity increase to kick-off '09 myself. Meh, getting used to it.

Fingers Crossed...

I was somewhat disappointed today, but I'm trying to stay optimistic about an iMac update within the next couple of weeks...

I just received a refund on my unopened 3.02 GHz iMac I got for Christmas last week... I'm kicking myself in the butt now.. guess I should just have patience. It'll be worth the wait right?

For those complaining about Snow Leopard, surely it will be released at WWDC because its mainly a release which is of most interest to developers? Unless it had some new whizz bang feature I wouldn't want to see it at Macworld.

Blu-Ray

Apple believes Blu-Ray is dead (or going to be dead soon), they are pushing streaming content over AppleTv.

Hard to believe. I can really see no alternative to archiving all my HD video can you?

Thanks for the Obama petition link --- I'm glad there are at least a few sane people worried about their pie!

Its going to be a Doomsday in 2012 so it makes only three years to finally get iMac or new Mini and play with it. From now it will be even less than 3 years.

Oh yes. It is sad that people won't be able to check 5 years (am I right 5 years were reported ?) life of new batteries in new MacBook Pro 17.

no mini = biggest disappointment of the year (hey, the year is only 6 days old, but we were really hoping for one for our entertainment hub). are they waiting on desktop announcements until blue ray support?

Why is it of most interest to developers? Any user would want it if it offers a significant performance gain.

I presume you'd want to see it whenever it was ready.

I'm surprised Apple's stock price didn't tumble further given the sheer crap of this MacWorld.

Worst Macworld ever, epic fail.

Ooo...rough day...I was expecting great things, things that they were no rumors about. Or a netbook. I would have bet 1000 bucks on a new Mac Mini

Hopefully late Feb, but honestly I may just live with my current Mini(maybe some new RAM) for a while

I just finished watching it and I actually enjoyed it. Yeah, it wasn't releasing ground-breaking products, but the additions to iLife were enough for me.

I don't get it, I just maxed out the new 17 inch MacBook Pro to $5,200... Who is gonna pay that money for it only to last 5 years or just 1,000 charges? Makes no sense. Also, I wish one of the USB ports was on the other side. Suppose I wanted to use a wired mouse with a short cord? Wouldn't be able to reach it around the other side. Still upset they wouldn't put FW400 back on.

Apple proving a point...

With Steve not showing up and the announcement this is the last Macworld event maybe this is Mac's way of down playing the significance of the event as a venue to bring out new items. If apple actually brought out new products that would go against every reason they would have to forgo participating in future events. This may also play into the reasoning for just demonstrating new software. I do not really count the new 17" Mac Book Pro since there really wasn't anything new introduced as a result of the recent 13" and 15" Mac Books.

Things are going to change...no longer with Macworld be used to introduce new Apple technology, but rather focus on third party hardware, software, and applications.

Shockingly bad. Words fail me. Worst Macworld in years and that's saying a lot with the recent stinkers. They must be getting out of the computer biz in line with changing their name from Apple Computer. This is a disaster. $20 billion in the bank and incredible profits and this is the best they can do ? Epic fail.

I suspect Apple is keeping alot of the Snow Leopard features secret...

we know how the guys are at Redmond. lol
Yes, we know that the guys in Redmond are actually working on Windows 7 and already have it in beta form, whereas the guys in Cupertino are talking about it but haven't really shown much to prove it exists yet.

Why have $20 billion in the bank when you could have $21 billion in the bank? Why stop at record profits when you could have record-breaking record profits?

LOL, are you serious?

WOW, what do you then when Microsoft doesn't even fix the products they have?

I feel bad for you. Don't waste money on stuff that will stop working in 8 months.

actually have had it for a year and no problems...you know, sometimes the mac guys think microsoft/dell really stink, but they don't really.

hmmmmm...

By chance did or should I say do any of you find Tony Bennett's Song choice interesting.

"The Best is Yet to come...", People this must ba a code... or at least I hope.

Maybe we will see our minis updated and the Pros to and how bought that tablet I've been hearing about for 10 years or so it seems.
