What the heck happened with all those rumors "Mac mini with support for dual displays, & iPhone nano? This really was crapworld 09"

You really think Apple would announce 6 new things in one day. I am sure very shortly there's gonna be a special event with Steve. Phill hasn't graduated the Presenter's school to announce anything new like iPhone nano or new Mini.

I wouldn't worry.

P.S. and snow leopard have to be announced by someone like Steve.

I got pissed so I bought a Dell Quad with 20" widescreen monitor for $800. Got firewire 400 so I can still use my camcorder. Use Lightroom for photos which I did before and Premiere for videos. Still use Safari for web browsing and google apps for calendar, email, etc. The other side ain't so bad. And I don't feel frustrated as hell when they DON'T release a new product

LOL, are you serious?

WOW, what do you then when Microsoft doesn't even fix the products they have?

I feel bad for you. Don't waste money on stuff that will stop working in 8 months.

am i the only one thats having issues with this keynote? the stream seems very jittery, also when i resize it from the corner it crashes quicktime every single time.

I have the new 15inch macbook pro, and i am running on the gt9600. I just watched steves iphone keynote (like 5 min of it) and it seems way less jittery, but it still crashes when resizing. I opened an avi video of mine, and it resizes without issue. i will probably start another thread. but anyone experiancing this?

well i decided on this a long time ago though! And I still have a macbook pro unibody. But I decided to not give my hopes up whenever apple 'might' release something. builds great press, but never lives up to the hype.

Builds great press..?
When did Apple inform the press of a pre-announcement, aka RUMOUR?!?

The Mac mini will happen....! It will either:
a) get the MacBook Unibody specs (maybe nVidia has trouble deliveirng enough 9400 M's)
b) get a mobile Quad-Core Nehalem (we have to wait for this)
c) get one of the above with Media Server crap (we have to wait for either a) or b) )
d) get EOL. (maybe it should.... )

Which one? When?
Well, NOT A MACWORLD OR WWDC.

It's easy. When can we expect updated hardware from Apple?
EVERY TUESDAY, EXCEPT KEYNOTE TUESDAYS! :apple:
Unless Apple wants to fiddle with us... :p

Again I understand the frustration of the old Mac mini. For one reason or another it didn't get the updates alongside the MacBooks as we all expected.
Since the 10.5.6 nVidia-Mac mini rumours, we are expecting it.
And, really, it will come. Just not today. MacWorld keynote speech is not the time and place to "show" an updated Mac mini.
It is there for software demo's, cool new product announcements etc. Showing the press how well Apple are doing etc.

It seems to me that this was the perfect place to announce a new mini. Really, are they going to have a separate event for that? Everyone's just going to say "ho hum, again." At least here they would have been bolstering the image of an updated product line. As for a "stealth" upgrade - why? What would be the point, when Apple could have at least gotten a little more positive publicity.

This makes me think there is no mini update in the works.

downloadable keynote

Is the keynote downloadable? Because the one on the site is very choppy and does not have a good flow in movement etc.

No Mac Mini. No iMac. No Mac OS X 10.6. No Mac Pro. No ...

Unfortunately this is probably a preview of the future. With Apple pulling out of more and more shows, their release schedule is going to become a lot less predictable (which of course is part of the reason they are pulling out). :(

Come on guy's, don't be so pesimistic! I'm sure in the next days they'll release

New 30inch Apple Cinema Display
New Macmini
New IMac with QuadCore
Snow Leopard
Iphone Nano
New MacPro
New Mouse
New Keyboard
...
NEW ANYTHING

That's no big deal for Apple.

Traces of sarcasm may be existent in my most recent post in this thread

The apologists continue making excuses. It's ok, you've drank the kool-aid and don't know any better.

Apple continues to snub anyone who doesn't want to spend over $1K on a desktop computer. It's idiotic but it's Apple's way. Hopefully their stock will start plunging and they'll get it.

I'd feel better if people weren't saying that six months ago...and a year ago...

You can only be referring to the Mac mini.
And yes, I understand it. It has been about 580 days since the last update, and of course that is far too long...
Maybe there is a problem in getting the essentially MacBook elements into it..? Maybe nVidia can't deliver enough for both MacBooks and Mac mini's, and therefor Apple choosing it all for the MacBooks, and nothing for the Mac mini.
Maybe Apple really is developing Media Server-ish software, which must be bundled with a new Mac mini, and simply isn;t ready yet.

Apple want to make money. Apple want to sell up-t-date products. There is something about the Mac mini. We just don't know.

We should know by now that MacWorlds and WWDC's are not for product updates.
We shouldn't be disappointed.

If so many of you didn't build your hopes up upon baseless rumours (in particular, regarding the mini), rumours circulated primarily to intensify the enthusiasm you're helping to create, you wouldn't be disappointed when nothing happens.

Surely?

Surely not. I didn't build up my hopes at all, I had the lowest possible expectations but this keynote had the most disappointing new product of any I can remember.

Sarcasm noted, however I do think it is not unreasonable to see the above bolded products indeed updated in the next 30 days... As for a new mouse and keyboard, I don't see this as being very likely at all for a long time. The current keyboard is great, and Apple doesn't update their mouse offerings very often (rightly or wrongly) so I don't think it's fair to even have those on the list.

all this situation at MW reminds me Al Pachino's character John Milton from Devil's Advocate.

May I cite ?

Look but don't touch. Touch, but don't taste. Taste, don't swallow. Ahaha. And while you're jumpin' from one foot to the next, what is he doing? He's laughin' His sick, ......! He's a sadist! He's an absentee landlord!

I am very disappointed that Apple didn't throw bigger bones toward the community that has been there for them LONG BEFORE anyone ever heard of trade shows. Since this is the last Expo for them, I expected much more from the keynote than THAT!

Your expectations got the best of you, and you're mad at them!?

Excuses...
I don't now any better.

You are annoying.

I have tried to explain that you shouldn't have expected what you have hoped for.
How may times haven't the rumours sites disappointed you?

I don't think there will be any new quad core machines for at least a month or two, since Intel only released the new mobile quad core processors at the end of last month. Companies like Apple need time to design their computers for this.

You really think Apple would announce 6 new things in one day.

I really think they would announce more than one hardware announcement and two predictable and not particularly interesting software announcements in one day. Because they have done more than that at virtually every keynote since Jobs return.

Your expectations got the best of you, and you're mad at them!?

Exactly. If anything, he should have expected less from this keynote knowing full well that Apple wants to bow out of trade shows. Since Apple wants to de-emphasize trade shows, why would they then turn around and blow everyone out of the water with this one?

At least someone thinking straight...

Where's the mini?

Wow I was so looking forward to seeing the mini upgraded this is just so disappointing. :( With the new vid card in the al macbook and a host of pc notebooks using newer intel 4500 solutions does this mean that at the very least they'll drop the price of the current mini to net book prices. Doubt it though it's probably good for another couple of years yet.
