iPhone Nano maybe... Mac Mini seems a much better bet to me!

Personally it wouldn't surprise me if Apple, despite what they've said, weighs in with a smaller 'netbook' like product. Maybe a touchscreen device thats smaller than MacBook but with a full - or near to full version of OS X. Perfect for credit crunch kids with too much cash on their hands!!

I'm not sure quite how skins and cover companies receive details from Apple but if they've simply been told "A smaller version of one of our most popular products is on its way... be prepared!" then you never know!

I feel Apple will need to shift their base models slightly cheaper in the current global economic climate, or introduce a new product that'll allow them to, at least, sustain their value for the meanwhile. This would most logically be Mac Mini, iPhone 'Nano' or the MacNetbook (working title!).

Personally I hope the 17" MacBook Pro gets it's make over to match its younger brothers!

Don't jump to conclusions...

I was wondering when these would show up! Now we have to wait for the indoor banners that are not cryptic in the least that this forum completely and utterly convolutes to mean "The xMac, iPhone nano, and MacBook Nano are imminent!"
That's what I was worried about when I saw that phrase a few days ago.

But on the MWSF site, it appears to refer to conversation talk at the expo (see the slideshow).

  • You'll never be short of conversation topics at Macworld
  • Small talk is the biggest talk we do

IDG Macworld Disinterested in Foreign Visitors

The decision to hold Macworld beginning on January 5 has been disastrous for the possible attendance of overseas-based travelers.

This year's date (and the announced start of January 4 2010) makes it mostly impossible to travel to SFO from destinations outside the US. I live in Australia, and the flights were completely full (and insanely expensive) for this week. It is still "Christmas" travel time. I finally secured a flight from Sydney at US$2200. Next week the same flight is US$1200.

The same is true for my colleagues in Japan, Singapore, and China. Most of their companies have ruled out their traveling at this time of year for cost reasons.

And the advertised United Airlines "Official Carrier" discount no longer works for those of us outside the USA.

Clearly, IDG continues to make a whole host of decisions that will guarantee 2009 is the LAST Macworld. They'll figure this out about September, I'd say and pull the plug then.

honestly I think investors will be looking for new gizmos.
this wil give the investors a little more security in their portfolios.

If, unlikely, apple decides to sit backon their laurels investors may see that as a lack of investment in the future.

Apple and Intel face similar challenges during th last downturn. Both pushed forward, introduced new products and settings themselves up for a strong bounce back.

All talk is big. Retailers need to attract customers with new products.
if apple introduces new product at the beginning of the year then it will provide the consumer to see the product and start saving, instead of using credit, with purchases as far out as next Christmas.

New phones; June is the 2 year point for the initial iphone contracts
Just my thoughts

that would be great considering how many kids in my class have iPod Touches they use 24/7... i will buy it on the release date, if not a snow leopard macbook (gosh i have aid sl macbook too much today!)

I'm linking to this post of yours from now on when I see iPhone nano stuff in relation to MacWorld banners.
While you're at it...

We Just got word that a major company stopped production on all iPhone Nano accessories. They believe the information they got is not real and want to cut their loses. This is the first negative information we got that might mean that there will be no iPhone Nano. If so a number of accessory and clone companies will lose a lot of money.

Notice how the iPhone Nano pic is just the original iPhone with bigger apps! If you're gunna do a mockup... at least make it look like the 3G!!

to be honst i think the icons look bigger because the phne itself is smaller.

pay attention the icon layout is different

setting in the dock?

judging from the icons in that image, the iPhone nano has just as much functionality as a regulr cell phone. We have all been spending so mcuh time thinking about smart phones tht we have forgotten that some phones are nothing more, then a phone, a texter, and a calculator and a crappy calendar.

Thats all this iPhone nano seems to be.

No big rumors... You haven't been on here in a while, have you?

iPhone nano
new Mac Mini
new iMac
17" unibody MacBook Pro
30" LED Cinema Display

Don't forget the the uber-marketable Mac Home Server and software updates ...

Snow Leopard
iWork online
iMovie online
Apple TV "Third Times a Charm" update

On the positive, at least we are going to see something new. We've had a few conventions were Apple's booth was not covered with black curtains leading us to no new products.

How depressing, even the sky's grey, The Macworld pictures are usually bright and sunny!!!, I have no expectations whatsoever for this event, new shuffles would be interesting though!

Its a complete mockup... hence why i was mocking it!

Sigh. I'm going to miss the traditional paparazzi shot of Steve's license plate-less Merecedes outside Moscone.
