This will be the last MacWorld for Apple. Let's hope they make it one worth remembering with at least one or two big changes, or new announcments.

Not bad, but here's my thoughts:

SMALL = 9" Netbook

TALK = iPhone Nano

BIG = Mac Mini (big thing in a small package)

yeah but i really doubt that there will be an iphone nano or a netbook
to me i think its just a small update to the iPhone
and the small is a mac mini update
and the big a iMac update
whatev thats what i was thinking
at first i was thinking that the whole banner meant the mac mini but i remember about the NVIDIA chips rumored to be in the new iMac and mac mini
so they are probably gonna do a update on mac mini and iMac
maybe iPhone

It's an IDG banner. It has nothing to do with Apple. You're spot on with what Apple is going to do, minus the iPhone, though.

I wish I could say the F word.

I am so against the iPhone Nano I would kill a kitten if it was released.

"Even the Small Talk Will Be Big".

It might be better if you just didn't buy one - an iPhone Nano that is. Or a kitten, come to that!

Small Talk (iPhone Nano), will be big?

if it was an Apple created banner I might believe that. but it's not. it was made by IDG so who knows what it means.

that does sound pretty iPhone nano-ish hinting-ish.

But too early to jump to conclusions.

Idk why some people are so against iPhone nano... im pretty confident the iPhone nano will be a non-smartphone,

part of the point of the iPhone is that it is 3 devices in one. if it doesn't have all 3 parts, it's not an iPhone

Remember the poster last year?

Sure enough, it was a MacBook Air...

yes but that was an Apple banner. this 'small talk' banner is not. it is for all of Macworld.

Notice how the iPhone Nano pic is just the original iPhone with bigger apps! If you're gunna do a mockup... at least make it look like the 3G!!

It isn't a mock up they really are selling them , that site has been there for years , and they could have been told from apple about it yeah they maybe don't have a proper pic but they have just been told the hieght and widths tbh I actually believe in an iPhone nano

MW SF.... There needs to be a new screen lineup... Or has everyone forgotten?

Not that I want to bust in and change the subject and cause all sorts of problems on the forum ;-) But what the heck are Apple going to do about the Apple Cinema Displays at Mac World (subtle link) Surely they can not ditch the design community who have served them so faithfully? I mean 24" Glossy Screens don't work its as simple as that.... Does anyone know if Apple plan to release a 24" Matt version? Does anyone even have the Glossy screen?

I need a new screen because of new work etc etc and my 19" Formac screen has served me well. Mostly I work on web and video design. Does anyone recommend the 23 over the 30? so many questions.... Will apple release Matt versions at MWSF '09? There's just so many things in the air!

Help me please!

Roll on the 5th!

"even the small talk will be BIG" MAC MINI HERE I COME!

Yes i do remember last years poster..This years "mini" poster says, "even the Small talk will be big" ANYONE THINKING A NEW MAC MINI? - Thats even slimmer and more powerfull.. I sure am :D

Maybe they're moving all their core libraries from the Objective-C to the SmallTalk language ;)

I'd love to see a similar MWSF to that of MWSF 2005....Mac Mini and iPod shuffle...hmm, that was low priced party!!

I wasn't in the market then, and the Mac Mini at the time didn't fit my needs, but now, its plenty fast! Hopefully we see that and iPhone nano, and netbook

I'm dream I know, but its be great!

As others have stated, these banner prove nothing outside the fact that Apple is leaving the expo.

As for Apple, here is my guess:

Mac Focus:

(1) Desktop Refresh:

(a) Mac Mini -> Mac Air...Wireless Keyboard/Mouse included, double MiniDisplay Port, Optional CD Drive / Double Hard Drive, Macbook specs.
(b) iMac - LED screens, MiniDisplay Port, slight spec bump, possible loss of Firewire 400, but not 800, optional CD Drive.
(c) Mac Pro - MiniDisplay Port, 1.5tb in each bay options, Core i7 Processors.

(2) Cinema Displays (20" & 30")

(3) iLife / iWork - all we know is that there will be some kind of MobileMe integration / web apps.

(4) Snow Leopard Update - Price, shipping date.

No iPhone Nano - not without Steve, not to mention this appears to be a Mac centric event that is not huge.

No Tablet or Large iPod or the same reason. Apple is going out with a whimper, not a bang (unless of course you have been waiting a year and a half for a new Mini).

here's what I think

Apple leaving Macworld has nothing to do with Steve Jobs. Period. It has to do with them figuring out that it's more cost effective to do announcements locally like they did the notebook event. so now that's the game. have their own sked for releases and do the announcements on their turf.

Steve not giving the big speech has nothing to do with his health. He is as fine as anyone missing half his intestinal tract could be (hint, that is why he is thinner than he was before the cancer). It has everything to do with the world thinking he's the only brain at Apple and the company will fall apart the day after he leaves. This obsession with his health and the resulting bad mouthing is killing the stock prices and costing him and everyone else a lot of money cause they all own stock in the company. He has been bringing folks on stage to show that there are other brains in the company so that the stock price won't drop $20 every time he coughs and his retirement fund will stay strong.

THere is no iPhone Nano. there is no going back to an Edge only phone, no non smart phone. there is no next huge thing to be released. what there is is a lot of stuff that is in dire need of updating -- the mac mini, the imacs, the mac pro, the apple tv, iwork and ilife (although I personally hope all that online stuff is bogus cause it feels like a very bad idea), mobile me. with the economy hurting the way it is, now is not a time to release some huge and expensive new toy. it is, however, a perfect time to improve on what is out there. lower prices a little, or raise the specs so there's more bang for the buck. cause with money as tight as it is, getting value out of your purchase is on a lot of minds way more than having a cool new, never seen before tech toy is.

so if the IDG banner is a hint of anything Apple related, I think that it is that the things announced will be small but there is a big list of them.

Not without Steve? Maybe Steve really is sick and couldn't do it. Ever thought about that?

Well, I'll be there at Macworld! Can't wait. I go every year, unfortunately this will be my last trip. :(
