Macworld|iWorld would have been fine with me since it illustrates the modern duality of Apple that we have came to know (with more pastel colors and a better typeface than that), but THE ULTIMATE iFANEVENT. WTF is happening?

iWorld sounds like a name for an Apple themed theme park.

Apple used to have an internet service called "eWorld".

It was much like the early days of AOL but the navigation screen was an illustration of a little city. To read mail you would click on the post office building, to get sports you would click on the sports arena and so on. There were various skins so you could make the city look like a martian colony or some underwater place. I was sad to see it go as it was my first introduction to the internet. Most of the former users were converted to AOL.

Life is good when all your critics have is to slam your logo/naming of a trade show and your use of the "i" prefix in your brand names.

When I made the switch to mac many years ago (first generation intel iMac) I also got a subscription to Macworld since it apperently was 'THE' mac magazine

By the time the intel iMacs came out, MacWorld magazine had long since stopped being relevant.

I guess the Macworld folks finally see the writing on the wall. iOS, the operating system custom designed for content consumption

Until it becomes an OS that will do both (it already does content creation, but it's a microcosm of why you can do on OS X.) Rest assured, it'll happen. It's inevitable.
Mac OSX, the operating system custom designed for content creation has been taking a back seat for a while now.

This isn't supported by the evidence. In fact, just the opposite is true. Macs and OS X have never done as well as they're doing now. Market share is at an all-time high, and appears to be increasing steadily. Lion has received unanimous praise and it's what's helping move Mac product. This much is clear from a) the latest consumer satisfaction reports, and b) Apple's numbers for the most recent quarter.

I guess the Macworld folks finally see the writing on the wall. iOS, the operating system custom designed for content consumption, has obviously become Apple's primary focus over the last few years. Mac OSX, the operating system custom designed for content creation has been taking a back seat for a while now.

And that's a bad thing? Just because it is easy to use and everybody in the world doesn't need the capabilities of a highly convoluted operating system?

So overall, you would want Apple to create complex things just because you can prove you're smart?

I don't know, I still enjoy it. And it brings my attention to some things I don't bother searching for. I also like that there is at least some journalistic integrity and research which you don't often see in online blogs/fora.

Even still, there are many people out there who are not regulars of rumor sites, tech blogs, and similar who benefit from magazines like MacWorld. Probably a lot more of them than there are people like us who haunt MacRumors.

Change happens. iOS devices account for a much larger chunk of Apple sales than MacOS devices and that was reflected in the fact that for years MacWorld had evolved into iPod/iPhone/iPadWorld. If I recall, last years event was so well attended that the producers decided to keep it breathing. It was slated to die last year, so it must be relevant to enough people. Just saying.

The good thing for the MacWorld/iWorld show producers is that name rejection on MacRumors usually means popular success in the real world (I give you the original iPod name, and then the iPad, both which were viciously mocked in forums here. We know who got the last laugh.

It looks like MacWorld should borrow some of Apple's creative talent. This promo looks like something created by and for a middle or grade school event. iFANEVENT? Good grief! I'd love to see what suggestions were rejected. They must have been really bad.

iFailure
Honestly, I am soooo SICK of this i"put any word in here" business model. Is old and meaningless now and screams to be changed.
"facepalm" ...my nickname:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Are they not doing free exhibit admission again for early registration like every other year? I live in SF so I typically go but only if I can get a free registration. BTW ever since apple pulled out it has gotten worse and worse every year, honestly last year was horrible as they only had one room and most of the companies sucked and hardly gave out free stuff. Noway I would pay for it now.

I call it CaseWorld or SoundockWorld.... Seriously, once the emphasis of MACworld shifted to other things besides the Mac, I was no longer interested in going.

mom dad can we go to iWorld?!!! Please please please..it's like wanting to go to that new apple headquarter there going to build..Can't change my user name iMaconapple :D
