SO - here's the question. How does the new iMac 2Ghz compare to the PowerMac 2Ghz now? (sorry - technically a double post in the buying tips forum but there's like 20x the number of people viewing this one!)

Just checked and it's only an extra £30 for the new 17" iMac too. On the UK Apple store it quotes prices starting at £929 and £1429 in seperate images, but I can only assume this was a simple copy and paste job that was forgotten about and it should read £929 too.BlizzardBomb said:They did say 2 processors, but I guess they didn't understand properly. £30 for 2x speed is nothing and I believe a better graphics card too. Also, the MacBook Pro also has ATI x1600 graphics, so it has PCI Express. Another great reason to order one, along with a .mac account and iWork '06. Better start changing my already wet undergarments.

I would say the Intel iMac 2Ghz should be quite a bit faster then the 2Ghz PowerMac now because Intel is so much faster then PowerPC at the same clock speed.

Exactly what I mean...anyone want a 15" 1Ghz Al Powerbook? Guessing no one would pay me more then $250 for it now and it is still a great laptop...just like new...oh well...progress I guess comes with a high cost to the consumer.
