You Can Thank Our US Government For That

Actually I do business with Italy so I'm not grateful for anything.....the dollar suffers horribly against the euro, so no I have NOTHING to be grateful for in the UK.

It's exactly what Randy Newman was rambling on about today. The current president is wholly responsible for the weak dollar and the strong Euro.

But hey, I think the MacBook Air is a steal at $1799.00.

The MacBook Air reminds me of the impact the PowerBook G4 had when it was revealed 7 years ago... incredible piece of design.

It seems to me that, even if the Macbook Air doesn't sell in the way they may hope, it has shown the direction of engineering and design for laptops to come. After all, the Cube gave way to the Mini.

I guess I can expect all future laptops to have the whole iPhone multi-touch track pad (though I can always hope for a firmware upgrade to make mine do that).

I can probably get a flight to the US and buy it in the Apple Shop in New York for less than it will cost over in the UK!

Why would you do that? Why NOW? If you wanted an iPhone, 4 months ago was the time to buy. Now you are that much closer to the 3G, 32 gb model that will make u feel like crap for buying so late.

As an early adopter who enjoyed his $100 credit as well, I will have maximized my iPhone usage by the time the 3G model rolls around.

Now is not the time to buy an iPhone.

That's what I was told 2 months ago when everyone said updates would be coming today and not to buy or I would regret it because I'd be stuck with an 8GB while there was a 16Gb one around. How the hell am I supposed to know when it's "safe" to buy something when updates come randomly?? Should I just keep waiting forever for the "next best thing"?

Dear Steve,

Why did you spend apple's time on making a lame frisbeebook air instead of updating the gadget of the century? Do me a favor, open up Time Machine to about a year ago and start working on an iPhone update. KTHNXBYE!

love,

Great liveblog this time around, Arn & Co.! I really liked the new format, and look forward to seeing it used in the future.

For those bellyaching about this or that particular product they'd rather have seen updated, I can only say that if Apple followed your advice they wouldn't be in nearly as good of a position in the industry, and you'd still be upset for more fundamental reasons. I think this keynote proves they're working for growth, by expanding into new markets and concurrently by keeping their focus on cultivating and refining the Apple Experience/Ecosystem. They now offer hardware and software to cover almost any entertainment or productivity you might wish to pursue, and that nearly anywhere. At the same time, they're obviously working hard to get bugs worked out and features worked into those products. I'm pretty excited about the possibilities going forward. It's a lot to juggle, though, so of course they can't give us everything at once. I think they made the right choice by focusing on the bigger "user experience" picture rather than one or two products that will be replaced less than a year down the line anyhow. Isn't that what we love about Apple in the first place?

GREAT COVERAGE - Especially on iPhone

Once again you guys did great coverage of the keynote. The autoupdating was great. Especially on the iPhone. I sat through a lunch meeting and could see the photos and info change without having to do a thing.

Thanks,

I had MacRumors in a browser and two other "live" sites. The other two timed out. Your method worked flawlessly.

Quietly in the background, I would catch sentences between work tasks, spy the photos. All day my clueless PC co-workers wondered why my attitude was so positive. :D GREAT JOB!

P.S. - I gave up switching them long ago. :apple:

macrumors posted the name of the song that was playing in the beginning minutes before the keynote. However Macrumors took down the live coverage text posts so I can't find it. Anyone know the name of the song that was playing right before keynote started?

Only one I remember was Feist 1234

Not to be a "Nattering Naybob of Negativism" but...

Is it just me, or was this keynote kind of a let-down? I mean, they had some interesting stuff to talk about, but this wasn't exactly Earth-shattering.

I'm glad to know the iMacs have stabilized somewhat, particularly since I plan on buying one sometime this year (assuming my wallet doesn't jump off a bridge or something on me), and it's nice to see some of the feature upgrades on the iPhone (even though I don't -- and won't -- have one), but do you folks think Apple has their head screwed on straight regarding the upgrade on the :apple:tv? Everyone I know wants a digital TV recorder. This product still feels somewhat neutered (even though obviously less-so than previously).

I just can't believe he took so much time talking about so little.

Oh, and did you folks get a load of that 20th Century Fox executive? For him to talk in such terms about digital distribution and the future it represents, all the while being a part of the industry fighting against giving the WGA anything at all... man, that took some serious cajones.
