Dont you people understand that this isnt meant for those that want top end performance. Its an ULTRAthin ULTRAportable laptop meant to be ULTRAthin and ULTRAportable. If you want performace buy a MBP. Whats so hard to understand about that?

didnt you see the "i would " part.......

its not hard to understand ok. its just the fact i never see myself in a situation to but one at that price. got it? ok good

That will never be understood by web geeks.

When a new computer comes out, its not faster and better in every aspect imaginable, then its worthless.

Never mind the increase in usability, portability. Those are foreign words to uber geeks.

I'm afraid that we won't be able to use our airport extremes with an attached storage device to backup, must be forced into buying the new time capsule.

The SSD is a $999 dollar option. They don't make it any cheaper... The 1.8 option is only $300 though. That isn't so bad...

$3100 for the SS drive and Air.

LOL.

Nothing to see here, move along.

Apple will get HAMMERED in the tech news outlets, and rightly so.

The whole show SUCKED hard!

basically £1,000 with the student discount. I could probably trade in my MacBook for £500.

Definitely something to consider.

$3,098.00 that's over 1k for each pound of weight :(

I'd much rathe have a 1lb for 1k of course :)

Hahahaha They took a standard 13.3" Macbook, made it a little thinner, and slapped a new name on it. LOL That's not an ultra-portable, that's taking the behemoth Macbook and modernizing it a bit to make it a little thinner. LOL I love how Steve called out the Sony TZ, as if somehow this were an ultra-portable. The thing weighs 3 lbs and has a 13.3" screen, it's not a TZ in anything other than frickin thickness. The TZ or even the EEE-pc are tiny by comparison.

And all the Mac-sheep go BAH BAH BAH BAH BAH. What a crappy product. An underpowered thinner Macbook that's not an ultra-portable, not small enough, not light enough, and really fits no market category except a thinner "standard" laptop. They should really get rid of Steve. He's bringing NOTHING to the table lately but crap.

$1799 for this piece of garbage? LOL You can buy 5 EEE PCs. And you can actually put those in your pocket.

Build a frickin UMPC Apple, your new product "wows" are drying up when your new technology is increasingly recycled crappy technology in a prettier form.

Apple TV $229 for 40 or $329 for 160 .... I may be making a purchase. No use for the 40 but only $100 more for the $160, I just may have to break down.
And perhaps the Time Capsule just because I want to.
Sadly no 16Gb iPhone, now I have to decide if I'm going to finally break down and by the 8Gb.

Possible Reason Why No MacBook Pro Announcement

Intel is behind shipping mobile Penryns, so Apple couldn't ship product with them even if they wanted to.

So they are either waiting until they get product, or they will wait until May with the new mobile CPUs.

The MacBook Air reminds me of the impact the PowerBook G4 had when it was revealed 7 years ago... incredible piece of design.
