Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5G77 Safari/525.20)

I'd really like to see a 32GB iPhone and a 64GB iPod Touch. These would be nice additions and I think that Apple would sell a few more units with this.

What is the typical time period that you can buy an iphone in and still be able to upgrade/return it after?

I've been thinking of getting an iphone for a bit, but wouldn't want to miss out on a 32gig one. Is there a 30 day trial period or the like in which I can return the phone and buy a new one if it comes out (i.e. if the iphone is introduced jan 9th, can I buy an iphone dec 9th and still be somewhat assured that I'd be able to return the 16gig one and get the 32gig one)?

Thanks

Would like to see...

64Gb iPhone & iPod Touch for everyday use.

7" iPod Touch - ideal for travelling/holidays and as an eBook reader.

As much as I have been waiting for a new Mini to enter the Mac market, if a mini-display port is the only connection option (and no adapters available by then) I may consider skipping Macs for another year or two until some of these issues get worked out.

at this point it is easier to say what wont be updated....

macbook line
ipod line (maybe storage upgrade..but i doubt it)

everything else is on table..

apple tv...doubt it..still a hobby
no blu-ray news...

How about a 64GB iPhone

That would be a show stopper...all jobbs needs to do is say hang on guys let really supprise the buying pubic and jump from 16 to 64.
If that happened i would have to give my wallet to my gf and tell to hide it....... COS I WOULD BUY IT IN AN INSTANT AND SOD THE CREDIT CRUNCH.

regards

32gb iPhone

I'm sure they'll announce a 32gb iPhone. When I went in to the Apple store in this summer after 2.0 jacked up my wifi I was talking to the genius and he said when they set-up the displays there was a white iPhone that said 16gb on the back enclosure but when hooked up to the computer the available memory was 32gb. Here is comes...

Here's hoping for an iPhone firmware update! The more I think about it, push notifications will be a game-changer.

MacWorld 2009

Talk about Snow Leopard. No release. Whose idea was that, anyway?
Talk about how great iTunes is doing. Of course.
Transition into the movies part of iTunes, leading to...
Apple TV update of some sort.
After that, Montevina iMac updates. Montevina for the Mac Mini, too, provided it hasn't been merged with Apple TV.
That's really it. Silent 17" MacBook Pro update, silent 30" Cinema Display update, discontinuation of the 20" Cinema Display.

That's probably what we'll see. Nehalem Mac Pro updates a week or so after the keynote.

What I would LIKE to see come out of MacWorld: (I do not believe for one second that they will do this)

Apple TV with Apple's DVR patents put to action. As in, it's a set-top-box with features rivaling or surpassing the Slingbox (or whatever the best one is).
13.3" MacTablet. MacBook Air internals, 13.3" multitouch screen. Slab style (one piece; none of this rotating screen crap). $1,999 and $2,299.

- Mac Pro Core i7 update (though any display-port connectivity depends on nVidia)

All the most likely Nvidia and ATI cards for the next Mac Pro have versions with a DisplayPort connector so that shouldn't be an issue. By all accounts the Xeon DP Nehalem platform will not be ready for January and we are more likely to see a March-May release.

I am still holding out hope that Apple will somehow expand their iPhone carrier footprint in the US. I have a feeling that Verizon makes the disparaging remarks about the iPhone because they realize that they made a mistake in passing it up (sometimes people put down others to take the spotlight off themselves). Plus, people make all kinds of remarks publicly while other deals are going on behind closed doors. For all we know, Apple has told them to but on an anti-iPhone front so they can make an even bigger splash when the device is (inevitably) introduced.

As for the new macs, do you think that they would revise the form factor for the iMac?

hopefully there's a huge leopard preview and maybe ilife stuff. i love when they do demos of the software.

Nehalem Mac Pro

"One more thing... the Mac Pro is a great machine, we really like it (blah blah) but today we're introducing..."

Nehalem is such a major and important step forwards I'd be very suprised if Jobs doesn't talk about it for 25mins+ (including demo).

- 32GB iPhone sure looks likely.

- Software will get a big chunk as usual (iLife, OSX, iPhone OSX).

- The iMac I hope gets updated (I'd like one and don't want to buy a soon-to-be-replaced model). (Yes I know everything will be out-dated eventually and it's probably OK for my purposes right now, but I'd rather have 6months with the latest model rather than 6 weeks!).

On an aside, who remembers the 2 years of rumours before the G5 came along (2001-2003). Crazy days! Intel roadmaps are just so transparant... Less fun but I am *NOT* complaining!

It's a consumer expo, though. Not only will the chips probably not be ready, they wouldn't announce a pro product at MacWorld, anyway.

Uh, no. There won't be a Verizon iPhone.

And the iMac isn't being redesigned yet.

Are you sure?

I think that the pros outweigh the cons in introducing it. I am not sure on the extent of the AT&T contract they have (people seem to think that they know for sure but there is really no consensus on it). I am sure that Apple has an EVDO iPhone sitting on the shelf (at least) and can probably bring it to market rather quickly if need be.

Plus there are a lot of Verizon costumers (myself included) where switching to AT&T is simply not an option. Furthermore, Apple DOES have contracts with Vodaphone (part of the Verizon family) in other markets. So obviously Verizon cannot hate them that much.

Just what I think...

As far as the iMac, I could go either way. I love the design of the current iMac, just maybe the chin could get a little smaller.

The reason the largest iPhone (16GB) currently has 1/2 the memory of the largest iPod touch (32GB) is that the iPhone can only house a single NAND Flash chip while the iPod touch can accommodate two. The additional space in the iPhone is taken up by its communication hardware. In August, Toshiba announced that they would begin mass production of higher density 32GB chips in the 4th quarter of 2008. These chips could presumably be used in future iPhone and iPod touch models. Another intriguing announcement came from Intel who has developed Flash chips that could increase this maximum to 64GB by early 2009.

I was wondering why the iPod Touch had more memory than the iPhone. If true, at least it's understandable. I don't like it, but it's understandable.

CDMA ≠ GSM

It's not about "liking" each other. It's not about Verizon turning them down. Apple isn't going to expend energy making a phone that works on an entirely different technology.
