The third OS X El Capitan 10.11.1 beta seeded to developers yesterday contains references to a Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse 2 and Magic Trackpad 2, as spotted by French website Consomac. Apple could ship the next-generation keyboard and mouse accessories alongside the new 4K 21.5-inch Retina iMac expected to launch next week, although the exact release date remains uncertain.

Apple's current-generation Wireless Keyboard and Magic Mouse

A new Apple Wireless Keyboard and Magic Mouse 2, each featuring Bluetooth 4.2 and rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, first appeared in FCC filings in August. Apple also registered several new web domains related to the term "Magic Keyboard" in September, including applemagickeyboard.com, applemagickeyboard.net, and applemagickeyboards.com.

Apple currently sells an Apple Wireless Keyboard, Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad, each powered by two AA batteries, so these newly uncovered accessories are in all likelihood next-generation versions. The new Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse 2 and Magic Trackpad 2 could have Force Touch, which is built into new MacBooks, while the inclusion of Touch ID is a more unlikely possibility.

"With Magic Mouse 2, we've reimagined the mouse to be click-ier, and more functional than ever. And the first time, we're bringing Force Touch (3D Touch?) to the Magic Mouse.

Combined with the Taptic Engine, this really is the most magical mouse you have ever touched.

I don't think the others are even talking about this yet. "

On a serious note though, I can't wait to get this to add Force Touch capabilities to my iMac or Macbook Pro retina. Hopefully it won't be too expensive.

I'd be pretty interested in a Magic Mouse with 3D Touch and, more interestingly, a Taptic Engine.

Will wait on buying a couple 5K iMacs then.

I ordered a BTO 27 a few days ago and it's still stuck in processing not expected to arrive until Oct 19. I bet there's a refresh for those too that they're holding up my order for :)

I wasn't expecting the refresh until early next year so that's why I went ahead and ordered.

If I had to guess, probably Force Touch for the trackpad, and maybe a backlight and possibly the MacBook's new key mechanism for the keyboard?

Those two technologies are basically the same thing.

The almost flush mount keyboard on the new MacBook is awesome!.. Going back to my MBP feels odd and clunky in comparison now.

Yes !! Bring it on.
My Magic Mouse keeps disconnecting since I use the new rmbp. but with el capitan the problem is gone. I'm excited for the magic mouse & keyboard.
