And in other news, used Apple wired USB mini keyboards continue to sell for well above original retail on eBay and other outlets.

But Apple refuses to produce those as an option.

Oh yes, it's almost time for wireless charging, isn't it? :D Supposedly 2015 was going to be the year for it. Hasn't materialized but... One can hope. :)

This stuff, not Qi or the like: http://witricity.com

force touch/ 3d touch GOOD. wireless charging, BETTER.

Seriously though, I think it would be awesome if apple integrated wireless charging across their product line. Imagine charging not only bluetooth devices (keyboard, mouse, tablet) but your iphones, ipads and laptops without having to plug them into anything. Just put them on the desk next to your (wirelessly charging enabled) imac or cinema display. Too bad its at least 2 years away from being integrated into apple products. One can hope.

Ikea has the right idea though...

How about new WIRED Apple Mouse and new WIRED Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad with built-in hub including two ports of USB 3.1 Type C (reversible) Generation 2? Nothing like wired things. Just the freedom to forget about batteries, no Earth environmental impact and much more power/versatility (for instance, booting in target disk mode, verbose mode, etc).

Interesting, I can see Apple use the lightning connector to charge the Magic Mouse, Keyboard & Trackpad so it would look like a wired peripheral while charging.

I think this is right. Apple has been introducing or pushing many products with Lightning this year:
ATV Remote, Pencil, Beats Pill+, SteelSeries Nimbus Controller, etc.

A keyboard / mouse / trackpad with a built-in battery and charged via Lightning makes perfect sense.

I currently use the Logitech K810 both at home and at work, and it is a fantastic keyboard. One of the reason's it's awesome is because of the built-in rechargeable battery. Another reason it's awesome is because it cannot remember 3 bluetooth devices, and has easy buttons to switch between the 3. So I can reply to an message on my iphone, and switch back to the document I'm working in, without any issue.

It would be cool if Apple incorporated a feature like that as well - the ability to easily switch the input to Mac to iPhone to iPad easily.

i think the glass on magic mouse can be with TouchID and be connected with your iMac but i think is too hard

If I had to guess, probably Force Touch for the trackpad, and maybe a backlight and possibly the MacBook's new key mechanism for the keyboard?

Those two technologies are basically the same thing.

Ya know, this is so not going to happen, but what would make me incalculably happy is if there was an option for a new mechanical keyboard. Give me all the new stuff--Bluetooth 4, wireless, rechargable battery, backlit keyboard, but then give me those awesome ALPs keys from the Apple II days. It'd be heavenly. All these new keyboards are great for mobile. Laptops totally need that kind of switch, but for desktops? Give me mechanical. It's sad that my only options are intended for Windows and I need to frankenstein my way around the mapping of the keys.

As for the track pad, just give me 3D touch so I can use it on my mac, and I'll be happy. The fingerprint reader would be a bonus.

I'm tired of replacing batteries on my keyboards and trackpads

If replacing batteries is your concern, I strongly recommend going with the Maha Energy low internal resistance batteries and USB charger. This is an excellent system for reusing and keeping batteries charged and available. If you don't want to carry the charger, you can get one of the small battery carrying cases and charge them at home.

These also work swell for any TV remotes, high-lumen LED AA/AAA flashlights, etc. Maha sells a variety of excellent batteries and smart chargers, but the USB charger is about the only one I ever use these days.

i hope they`ll get rid of "Eject" button. not a single mac has disc slot anymore
Do this - You could add an "delete" button instead.

And:
-Backlit
-Option for a wired keyboard
-Option for an integrated numbpad
-An ergonomic mouse
-A good mouse
-24" iMac with these as standard: skylake, 500Gb SSD, a good GPU, a design that can handle the heat and realistic prices for RAM upgrade

Apple; you may only neglect one of those ;)

A new keyboard with lit up keys and something useful replacing the open/close button would be nice. A new trackpad isnt something I'll buy, since I dont use the current one I have for anything else than draining batteries. and a magic mouse has to be pretty much more magic for me to even consider it...the current one is the prettiest and most useless mouse I've ever used.

Logitech solar keyboards solve this problem, are amazing to type on, and can switch among Bluetooth devices (mine is paired to my Mac, iPad, and iPhone). :)
I wish more peripherals would adopt this solar approach. It is likely that force touch would use too much power maybe for this to be practical maybe.

A 3d Touch trackpad would be a great addition. Since I am used to my new MBP, I keep trying to use Force Touch on my Mac Mini. I think it would be a great addition to the peripheral options out there.

I would buy the accessories but am in no need of upgrading my imac.

Well, odds are they'd be using the new-ish Bluetooth low energy mode, so older Macs are out (e.g. my 2011 MBP doesn't do Bluetooth LE).

I use the wired full keyboard but would prefer a rechargeable wireless full size to simply reduce the number of wires.

Have you seen these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-Wireless-Solar-Keyboard-K750/dp/B005L38VRU ?

Force Touch and Touch ID are unlikely because both would need Bluetooth to transfer information. The latter is likely out of the question over Bluetooth.

I don't see why - transferring data securely is what bluetooth does, and a keyboard can be securely paired with the mac either with a one-time PIN or (if they're going to be charging over lightning or USB) a one-time physical connection.

Well you just burst my bubble. :(

But I will pray that you are wrong and that my Apple 2012 imac with BT 4 will be supported. :D

..and Magic Trackpad 2 works with Apple Pencil.

Me hopes that new iMacs work with Apple Pencil too. Perhaps this is the reason why we didn't see new versions of Pages, Numbers and Keynote yet.. because they're coming with Pencil support?
