I've noticed that my Magic Mouse batteries gained lots of new life too after the 10.6.7 OS update. My battery level jumped up to the high 80s after having been much lower. I use Sanyo eneloops (and have been very satisfied with them). Hmmmmmmm. What's going on with the update?

I've just noticed this. They probably re-calibrated the gauge to support the lower voltage of rechargeable batteries. People complained a lot that the gauge was only showing 85% with fully charged batteries...

I don't wanna redirect this thread too far, but I am considering buying a magic mouse and wanna hear what all you magic mouse users have to say.

How is the magic mouse in terms of working in programs such as photoshop, illustrator, indesign.. etc?

I'm using a Logitech Performance MX and i find it kind of hard to use in those programs (scrolling is super jumpy and inaccurate). The battery life isnt great either.

I use mine for Photoshop and Aperture, and I find it pretty good. The battery life seems pretty good, but when they die, I'll probably go for the Apple rechargeables.

I have much better experience with the Apple batteries, despite them being like 2100mAh, compared to my 2500mAh that I used with my Nikon SB800 flash.

I also love the mouse in Lightroom, especially the 360 scroll

sanyo eneloop anyone? i used them in my canon flash when i had it but started using them when i got the magic mouse and it works pretty good for me. i dont know how many days or hours but at the least 3 weeks?

Would be nice if the magic mouse had a rechargeable battery and you could just plug in the iPhone's usb cable to recharge when it's not in use.

I just bought one recently. I didn't actually read up on the battery life until now that I'm a month into it and the batteries have died. I just went ahead and bought some rechargeable batteries. If you use it for windows I would download the "windows 7 updated drivers" these made the world of difference!! So back to your original question, yes the mouse consumes a ton of battery for me, although it may be the surface like it was stated by an earlier post but it is awesome!! Also, I'm going to try shutting it off at night or when I dont plan on using it.

lol..just bought these about 10 min ago, I hope they help :)

Just got my iMac on Wednesday and today is Friday.

The battery that came with it only had 5% and died within a few hours. Then I put my rechargeable Energizer's in (2450mAh) and they're going down fast as well.

Normal? Yesterday it had around 50% left and around 6∾ hours later it's now down to 21%. Bit quick isn't it? I spent most time in iMovie editing.

10 days later my magic mouse is at 29%. Beautiful looking and operational mouse, however, major disappointment with battery life. My Microsoft wireless mouse is $35.00 cheaper and lasts for months.

Well I've replaced the battery 10 days ago (since my last message). Been using the batteries for around 7 days and it's already down to 27%! Bit ridiculous isn't it?

I use my Mac around 6 hours a day. Love the mouse with all the multi gesture stuff but man does it eat battery? Swear like Logitech mouse can last months and months.

I am having a similar problem. My batteries keep being used up within a month on my magic mouse, which is brand new. So my work purchased some energizer rechargable batteries for me and a charger. I just put in some brand new batteries while my others are charging, and instead of saying battery at 100%, it starts the battery life at 58%.

Is there any way to increase the battery life rather than starting out at 58%? Does anyone else have this problem - and does it just mean I need better batteries? They are 2300 mAH energizer rechargeables. How long does a Lithium battery last?

My keyboard is still at 89% and its been about 4 months.

I tried using Lithiums for a while and only got 5 or 6 weeks of use from them in my Magic Mouse. I don't think they are worth the money.

I am very happy using my Sanyo Eneloops (rechargeables). They show 100% when I put them into my mouse after a recharge.

IT happens the same to me. I use my computer for almost 12 hours a day and i realized that mouse batteries wont last even a month.

Nevertheless someone mentioned that the surface you`re using makes a difference. And , in fact it did to me. 2 weeks ago i just bough a new mouse surface and it made a difference in battery.

I guess that apple offered too much life time battery than it was supposed to...

i`m thinking about buying a magic mouse Mobee Charger (i guess that`s the name) Its 40dollars and it might be the cheapest/best environmental solution.

Magic Mouse Battery Life

I have had my Magic Mouse for four months. In that time I have had it replaced because it constantly lost connection. Replacement MM is an improvement but still loses connection quite often. I have also lost count of the number of times I have replaced the batteries (top of the line batteries). No obvious solution apart expending further money on charger and rechargeable batteries. I dont see this as an acceptable solution. Thanks for all the various suggestions, everyone.

Honestly

Never buy a magic mouse. I bought one and I truly regret it.
Does it work? Yes, it works smoothly.
Does it lie handy in the hand? NO
Does it EAT batteries? YES

If I hadn't paid so much for it, I'd throw it out and get myself a logitech wireless mouse again.

I've had great luck with mine, I love the MM. My batteries have to be replaced about every three months. I don't turn my MM off, I just let my MP sleep and the MM goes into standby mode. Strange how it works so well for some but not others.

I just ordered the enloop 2500 mAh rechargeables and I'm hoping for good results there too. I thought about the Mobie charging system but I didn't like the fact it would only work for 6 days on a charge. I could live with it but for the price I'd rather try the enloops.

Magic Trackpad

Same kind of thing with my Magic Trackpad. The batterie does not last more than 3 months -/+ with my use level.

This seems pretty bad to me, but this doesn't make me like my Trackpad any less!

I've been rolling with the Logitech M705 for over two years now and never had to change the batteries. I use it quite regularly for gaming and editing video, which I do a lot of. It's had the same pair of AA batteries in it for two years now and the batteries aren't even close to running out according to the Logitech info center. Plus I love the way it feels so much more than the magic mouse. Stellar mouse all around. Highly recommend.
