Thats the only magic part about this mouse - it magically eats any batteries you throw at it. Went through two sets and now it sits on display while I use old trusted logitech laser wireless mouse which lasts not 12 days but 12 month on one set of batteries. Oh and the right click which never works in games make it a very limited use 69$ mouse. One very disappointed user here.

Same here, 1 set of Duracell powered batteries out in 2 month (or less).
Using it everyday, for a max 4 hours.

Maybe i should buy rechargeable batteries.

Rechargeable batteries will save you a whole lot of money, and you can use them with other computer peripherals.

Also, with all Apple mice, you have to take your left finger off the surface of the mouse to use the right click, it's because of the touch sensitive panel they have used in the last few generations of mice.

I bought my Magic Mouse on November 22nd, 2009. After using it for about 2 hours a day on nearly a daily basis since then, I am sitting here right now at 68%. This is still the original set of batteries that came preinstalled in the Mouse. I gotta say though, this is the best mouse I've ever used. Never had a problem with the "secondary click" either.

I have used a couple of sets of Energizer Ultimate Lithiums upon the recommendation of someone on Apple Discussions. The last set only lasted me a shade over 6 weeks. I use the mouse about 5-6 hours per day with my 21.5 inch Intel iMac. These batteries are expensive and I don't think 6 weeks is a very good deal. I think I'll try to go to rechargeables next.

U guys should get the Energizer Lithium Advanced batteries. I bought some at Walmart like a month ago and they are still showing 100 percent.

The Lithiums will show 100% for a while and you think they will never go bad then all of a sudden they precipitously drop like a rock and you get the message saying your batteries are low and they read 20% and then they die quickly. For some reason the Lithiums stay at peak charge and then suddenly drop. I've read elsewhere that this is characteristic of them.

Like everyone else I agree about that having rechargeable batteries. It is the best bet to go with any type of electronic that is wireless.

wireless devices usually eat through regular batteries. i have a generic company batteries called PC rechargeable NiMH precharged 2000 mAh.

I acutally haven't noticed the battery life.

The next time I put batteries I will mark it on ical and see how long it lasts.

Yep, that is exactly what happed with these batteries. After about 4 weeks they were still showing 100%. Then all of a sudden they took a nosedive to around 30% and lower.

I've had my share of dead batteries with the mouse. The initial issue I had with it was the part where it would disconnect without telling you it was low. I made Apple aware of this, and it was remedied in the next software update.

The battery life has not been resolved. I've opted to use heavy duty rechargeable batteries. These ones are rated at 2000 mA each. After 12 days I'm at 56%. Essentially this mouse will be dead in two weeks. That's 4 amps of current used up in ~ 25 days.

I do wonder though about adaptive connection power. If you are further away (or affected by interference) the link will draw more to maintain a connection. I've recently found an Apple tech note pointing to poor Magic Mouse performance where it behaved erratic / sluggish. I found there was improper wire arrangements in my MacPro. I've since fixed it, and I've had good performance with the mouse, but battery life is still uncertain.

I guess I will have to wait and see.

Awful battery life !!

I just put a brand new pair of Duracell Plus batteries in yesterday and the battery is already down to 94%. 6% drain in ONE DAY, and I have used the mouse for no more than four hours today... That means at this rate I would need to change batteries every 16 or so days, not even close to 1/4 that of what Apple promises! I got the mouse around February and so far i've gone through 5 sets of batteries, where I should realistically only be on my second.:(

The Energizer set that came with my Magic Mouse lasted about a month but I don't turn it off. It's about the same for other brands of batteries (Duracell, etc.). If you turn it off while not using it, battery life would improve I'd imagine.

Just had to replace a set of Energizer Ultimate Lithiums after 5 and a half weeks. Pretty bad if you ask me. I have not been turning my Magic Mouse off, I thought it was supposed to power itself off when it was not being used.

I'm either switching back to regular alkalines or going to something rechargeable I suppose.

i dont get the point of wireless really....i mean i hate dealing with batteries and the computer is right there to plug into....

all wireless devices should be like ps3 controllers in that they can be used wireless or plugged in, whatever you like

++

I really dont get the advantage of wireless other then that people seem to like the look of it.

It's heavy, less precise, unreliable (delays, wireless quirks) and the battery needs to be recharged. It's retarded. Come on Apple give us a freakin wired mouse!!

I've had my Magic Mouse for about 8-10 days, and I'm already down to 88%. Which means about 10% of battery life per week for my usage (fairly normal usage..maybe slightly higher than normal.. I'd say about 3-5 hours per day)

So 10% per week = 10 weeks of batteries = need to be replaced every 2 1/2 months.

I don't really find that acceptable. I mean, I love my magic mouse.. so of course I'll continue to use it, and keep replacing batteries (I'll be replacing with rechargeables... just like everything else I have, but still)

My Logitech mouse (can't recall what exact model it is... but it's a smaller "laptop" style mouse... available just about anywhere for about $29) and I can go OVER A YEAR with the battery. Yes, the battery (not batteries)... as in singular, not plural. It takes ONE AAA battery, and it lasted me 16 months. I bought it last April, and it still works - and it just began giving me a low battery indicator... but yes.. it STILL works after 15 months of pretty heavy usage and never, ever, being shut off.

I know it's not as fancy as my magic mouse.. and it doesn't have the magic "multi touch" surface of the MM, but still.. you'd think that you'd get better battery life than we are getting.

Meh, oh well. Like I said... I love my Magic Mouse and I'll continue to use it until the next big thing that Apple releases. However, I am not pleased with its battery life.

Magic Mouse battery life is a joke. I get three weeks. That's it. Maybe a few extra days. The other thing I really dislike is setting it up again after a battery change. This was never an issue with the old Mighty Mouse, which in all other ways was an inferior product.

I also get about 3 weeks, and this is from a pair of 2500mah rechargeables.

I have not after changing batteries 4 times now, ever had to re-connect or re-pair the mouse with my MBP....

Mine usually lasts about a month and a half before it says I need to change the batteries.

I got my Magic Mouse about a month ago and I'm currently at about 85% battery life. I'm not sure what the problem is, but maybe I just don't use my home desktop as much as some of you.
