That is not right. All big Techtubers have iPhone 7. But they are not allowed to post offical reviews until Tuesday/Wednesday.

Look at this?

In the end it doesn't matter what Phil said. What matters is the actual specs of the sensor size from a reliable source.

Whaaa??
You can't be serious? If you're attempting to be, that's silly man ... "exact same lens, sensor, and ISP"
To excuse Phil as irrelevant is ...never mind. Just realize, it's not only the exact same camera, but the same ISP, sensor, lens assembly and aperture, and aperture/f-stop. Period

He's responding to a 'customer' and smart enough to have double checked (had he any doubts) w/engineering and assembly. To get another 3 or 4 tenths of a mm/cm inside a point and shoot cam or cellphone isn't typically a significant issue 'fitting' -- certainly in the near double volume/size internals as 7+ in comparison with the smaller 7.

To dismiss his response is ridiculous

lol now Phil Schiller is "not a reliable source" over an ANALYST from Asia. Just cannot convince some people

Exactly

Pretty sure thats /topic. From the horse's mouth best you will get other than Tim Cook himself 1 level up in the company.

It would make no logistical sense to use 2 different sensors when they buy bulk parts. MUCH easier and cheaper to use the same actually.

I hope that it is the same. Low light photography is arguable the weakest area of mobile photography so any advantage that can be had is significant.

As others have now pointed out. Phil specifically mentioned they are the same camera. I watched that part of the keynote 3 times to double check.

I don't know how to edit on mobile.

I just now realized that he wasn't referring to the 7
If that is genuinely Phil Schiller then it's a reliable source!

That solves it then. They are the same!

He's not talking about the sensor, he's talking about the wide angel lens which is different.

Actually it'd be much easier and cheaper to use the smaller sensors that have been used since the 6s.

New sensors are always more expensive.

He said CAMERA is the same.

CAMERA = Sensor + Lenses

So by your logic the 6s has the same camera as the 6s Plus.

A "camera" is a package of a sensor and a lense.

Phil Schiller said the wide angle camera in iPhone 7 is the same as in iPhone 7 Plus.

So sensor and lenses of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus camera is the same. IF I interpreted Phil Schillers tweet correctly.

If not, we have another gate this year: #sensorgate

iPhone 6s has not the same camera as 6s plus. The Plus version has OIS.

But Phil Schiller never said that 6S and 6S Plus camera is the same. He said iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus is the same.

Apple can and has been loose with all of their terms. Like the new Plus. They didn't say it has 2x optical zoom. They said it has optical 2x zoom.

Phil probably did say it at some point in the past but I never knew I had to keep records of everything I ever saw online just to show you where he said it.

Someone emailed him as well with the same confirmation. I think the debate should end...for now.

Someone unsurprisingly points out that "...remember when they said the iPad mini 4 was basically a small iPad Air 2? That turned out to be untrue."

Exactly

Did he state what the sensor sizes were?

I'm sorry but this is getting ridiculous and stupid. Phil clearly answered "yes" to the sensor question. They are the same.

What's "stupid" is that Apple likes to be misleading.

I'm looking at pictures on Apple's websites right now. There's one taken with the 7 on a rooftop court and the colors are more vibrant. Then there's a picture taken with the 7 Plus (the one with the zoom animation) and that's less vibrant.

Phil is being intentionally misleading and with those alleged tweets/e-mails (like we know that's who they came from) it borders on lying.

How is Apple and Phil being misleading?? You do not have the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in your possession to compare the cameras and their sensors. I'm going to take the word of Phil over any other source. He was specially asked in both an email and tweet about the sensor, he said they are the same. Its case closed. But because some example photos don't look the same doesn't mean anything. You are looking at one roof photo simulated on the iPhone itself, and the other roof photo being just the photo. I would expect them to look different. Also the conditions of the photos are completely different. The ONLY way to compare is the same exact photo side by side.
