No, it wasn't and isn't obvious lol. And you didn't say Mac Gamers but Mac Owners. Yes, those that want a native port at any cost will buy it but that ain't all Mac owners or even gamers.
So that was all you could make of my answer? Some nitpicking and laughing out loud? Did you just happen to miss my main point and the context? If it wasn’t obvious all you had to do was to scroll back and read my first post about the game and the following posts I had to make to clarify the details just because some people can’t help themselves posting prematurely before knowing all the facts and making every Mac discussion to be about their passion for PC. To make it super obvious here are some simple questions and answers you can use to eliminate your confusion:
1. What was my first post about? Release of a new native Mac game.
2. Who play new native Mac games? Mac gamers
3. What was my first post not about? Release of a new PC game
4. Who don’t play new native Mac games? PC/Steam Deck gamers
5. Are Mac gamers who want to play a native game interested in price comparison? Only if the game is available in different store.
6. Is the game in my post Sniper Elite 4 for Mac available anywhere else? No, only in App Store
7. Is a price comparison between Mac and PC relevant here? No
8. Why? See question 1-2 and 5-6.
9. Are Mac gamers noobs and unaware of PC gaming, Crossover or cheap Steam PC keys? No, but some people seem to think so to such an extent that they often have to let us know no matter what’s been discussed.
10. Do Mac gamers (or any other real gamer for that matter) prefer up to double the performance of native games or the cheaper price of a PC game through several translation layers in Crossover? The better performance.
11. Does Sniper Elite 4 even run in Crossover Mac? No
Unfortunately that’s what happens when PC/Steam Deck gamers/players/owners/users/enthusiast/fans/advocates or whatever you want to call them rush to give Mac gamers advice on what we should do or not as if we don’t know the different solutions, instead of reading and listening to what we want. It’s quite puzzling to see people who consider themselves avid gamers making all these posts about cheap Steam keys and advising against the native port without checking whether the game even runs in Crossover and to see even other people supporting it.
So when I say ”No Mac owner is going to buy a PC to play the game just to save $20 on Steam” it’s evident that I’m talking about Mac owners without a PC. Only those without a PC would consider to buy one for gaming instead of their Mac but as I said no one would do such a thing for only a cheap Steam key as long as there are native Mac ports. If you’re a Mac owner with a gaming PC you wouldn’t need to buy another PC to save those $20. Therefore my statement wasn’t targeting that group and if you belong to that group you’re again already a PC gamer and know about cheap Steam keys, not a Mac gamer despite owning a Mac.
As for your remark about ”All gamers”, I wasn’t aware that I had to take all gamers into account when I was talking about a new native game for Mac gamers. I didn’t even mentioned the price when I shared the news.
So when Mac gamers share news about a native new game it's relevant to include all gaming platforms and make price comparisons because someone might want to play it on PC/Steam Deck? Who else should we compare with? Playstation 4 and Xbox One? The game is on those platforms too and many Mac ”owners” play console games too. How about Nintendo Switch? People might want to play the game on Switch or play through Switch emulators on Mac instead of a perfectly good native port. Should we also include Switch prices for the game? It all sounds very logical and on topic.
You told once that you used Crossover yourself a long time ago but hated it and love that now everything works on your Linux PC and Steam Deck so why would/should Mac gamers want anything less than a native port that just works? So when it comes to Mac gaming it’s suddenly okay to recommend a region locked PC key that doesn’t even work in Crossover and advise against a native port? Sounds reasonable.
