Does anyone NOT put their iPhone on their Apple Card to pay it off with no interest? In that case a price jump is practically irrelevant.

S23 Ultra: £1249

iPhone 14 Pro Max: £1099

S24 Ultra: £1349 (+£100)

iPhone 15 Pro Max: £1199 (+£100)
You are comparing apples to oranges. iPhone is not in the same class as S23 Ultra. Firstly, S23 storage starts from 256GB (that's extra $100 for iPhone). S23 has one more camera, and it's the one with periscope lens (real tele lens). iPhone supposedly is getting one this year and it'll cost you. S23 has WiFi 6e. S23 starts with 8GB RAM (up to 12GB). S23 has USB-C port. S23 has a pen.

The iPhone doesn’t have a £300-£400 price cut across retailers like the Samsung does though, it holds its high price across the 12 months. It’s all gotten ridiculous and I won’t be buying any of these devices new on principal. There’s only one loser in this scenario.

With many carriers offering the phones for "free" I am sure this is part of the reason apple is doing it. They know they will get their $$ no matter what because carriers are covering the costs so most won't worry about it being more expensive.

I'm not sure how much that has to do with it. Carriers have been offering "free" iPhones for a while yet this would potentially be (still just a rumor at this point) the first U.S. price increase on the Pro models since they originally launched in 2019.

They're trailing on trillions, that's why. Better buy Apple stock than phones.

Think it's time the price hike hits the US instead of the rest of the world.

While the UK saw price increases last year due to the stronger USD/weaker £, prior to that there were two years in a row (2020 and 2021) of UK Pro model price DECREASES even though U.S. prices had stayed the same. Even with last year's price increase, the UK starting prices of the 14 Pro and Pro Max are only £50 higher (including VAT) than what the starting prices of the 11 Pro and Pro Max were back in 2019.

As i said in another thread - Apple still hasn’t sent the battery gate payments & i’m pretty sure they’ll deposit those the week of preorders going live to just hope to get that money back immediately

Pricing bump is not issue for me, because I am going to buy this thing four years from now, just like how I purchased iPhone 11 Pro Max last year for cheap.

Or I purchaded Pixel 7 for half price near one year later. Only fools or people with unlimited budgets will gets new model right at product launch. Wait for deal is smart way to shop

It makes sense, because this year we’re getting a whole new design and material for the smartphone body (titanium), a SoC built on an industry leading process (the first chip manufactured at 3nm) and smaller additions such as the action button and the new USB-C port.

This year’s Pro iPhone is a really big change from what we had previously, and that usually means price increase by Apple’s rules.
New design? Smaller bezels by 1mm is not a new design. Nothing is changing. A new material that will make no difference to the user except it is more expensive is stupid imo. This year's pro phone is no different from previous years. What are you talking about. New SoC (sometimes on a new node, sometimes not), new camera, and a smattering of other bits and pieces.

They can raise the price all they want, I refuse to buy any phone without a SIM card. I got me the Fold 5 on release day and so far I'm loving it alot more than I thought I would because I had a Fold 3 previously and didn't like it.

Jeez a price increase? Apple wouldn't do that? Come on everybody!!! This is apple's MO. I'm gonna keep my 14PM till it's dead now..

I would rather buy 14 Pro if it's also available with type-c as was rumored previously.
Yes it will be available with micro-usb, lightning, and ALSO type-c. But im not sure of course, EU demanding type-c on all phones are just RUMORS.

EDIT: my fault, u said 14, not 15

Apple and Google deserve a lot of credit for pushing the envelope and advancing all the technologies involved on a mass-producible scale at a time when Intel and Microsoft were sleeping and technology was moving as slowly as possible to give them time to milk their products to the last drop. My concern now is that once consumer spending on these devices slows down, the investments by Apple and others will slow back to the Intel-Microsoft era, putting an end to the dramatic advancements we have seen in the last 15 years.

A price increase for what? Really nothing major is changing or being added. Think that would be a big mistake by Apple.
it's not going to be a big mistake, it will fly off the shelves. A prestige piece and an amazing bit of technology. The perfect combo, people will want them and people will manage to acquire them. Always has been the case. To think otherwise is not understanding why they can raise the prices, the demand will be there.

The novelty might be wearing off for some people. The updates are merely incremental and Apple sells them with abstract graphics how fast the newer phones are as if they have had any bottlenecks anyway. People associate Apple products with socioeconomic status and having latest models and largest is often just for feeling included. And Apple knows this very well and therefore they can raise the prices as well. People will keep buying them since middle and upper classes are growing globally. Then again, Apple is not competing with Android with their majority of their customer base. Enthusiasts will change to other platform if they deem so but majority Apple iPhone users stay locked in once they get in. Then you have to keep buying the latest and greatest models so that you don't look poor among your peers and you justify it with superlatives presented in keynote even they are mostly irrelevant.

And what comes to cameras, Apple has edge in video but so many other brands and models are leading the photography. Surely if you take the photo and send it to Instagram, less is enough but justified how? The better lens options are reserved to "pro" models and everyone wants to be influencer and make that Instagram or Tiktok to pop so obviously you need "pro" models.

Folks at Apple are not stupid. We as their customers are and we know it but wont admit it. And why would we? Then again you have the latest and greatest to show your peers.

Regardless of the price increase, Apple will claim that, “We think you are going to love it. It’s the best iPhone Apple has ever worked on.”
Don’t forget the shortages of the 15 Pro/Max. You know, due to unexpected and unprecedented demand well exceeding our own internal expectations. We will be getting them in the hands of our customers as fast as we can.
