You can always buy the iPhone SE, if budget is an issue. There is no reason to buy the higher end iPhone unless you need it.

Also, here in California, many people don't have to budget for a $1,000 phone. $1K is just "disposable income", Yes many can't afford it, so they offer the SE. And if you can't afford that, there is the used market.

Look at the economics of Cupertino, California where Apple is located. You cannot buy a house there for less than a million dollars. To qualify for a loan you need to earn three times the mortgage payment. Do the math....

Lots of people don't see $1K as even a speed bump.

A price increase for what? Really nothing major is changing or being added. Think that would be a big mistake by Apple.
Higher base storage, which isn't really a price increase contrary to the media.

It's about time. The guys in the US pay way to little for it. We got raped in Europe for years now. Now it's time for you to enjoy this feeling paying 1500 $ for a normal iPhone.

Hardly. Using Germany as an example, the pre-VAT starting price of the 14 Pro last year was around €1,086 which at the time was equal to around $1,043 USD compared to a pre-sales tax price of $999 for same phone in U.S. Not significantly different especially if you consider that iPhones in EU countries have longer warranties (2 years) than those in the U.S. (1 year).

If Europeans are being price "raped" it's by their country's VAT but you can't blame Apple for that.

With many carriers offering the phones for "free" I am sure this is part of the reason apple is doing it. They know they will get their $$ no matter what because carriers are covering the costs so most won't worry about it being more expensive.

I thought I read somewhere that the base storage was going up.
I think base storage will go up to 256GB but they won't lower the price from this years 256GB so for the Max that is £1309 and I reckon they will up that to £1399.

Yeah I don’t see the reason to upgrade for small changes. How good does a camera have to be for social media post and phones are plenty fast now. It wouldn’t hurt if apple didn’t go to 2yr hardware and concentrate more on software updates
Totally agreed, software quality has tanked in recent years and they don’t even get all the features out in time normally

I've had almost 5 years to save up for a new phone, amongst other things. Coming from a regular XS to an 15 Pro max/Ultra. I'm ok with the increase if there is one.

I’ll be buying it regardless as I’m sure millions of others will.

I personally don’t see the big deal, but also understand why others are concerned.

it’s my most used device every single day. and I always sell the previous model to make up for 70%-80% of the cost of the new model.

it’s a no-brainer (IMO).
It's a no brainer when I have locked in £840 for my 14 Pro Max 128GB on MusicMagpie!

No... You may be shocked the overhead and direct costs of running a business has dramatically increased across the board for large tech companies.

You'd probably feel better if Apple didn't give raises and increased benefits to Apple employees. Or refused to pay increased costs for building leases, parts, janitorial services, insurance, parts that go into Apple products, contract labor, etc - just to name a few.
Just out of curiosity, are you able to post anything without adding thinly-veiled insults?

Up to $200usd price hike!!!??., for basically the same device with minor “updates”?. And a titanium frame that is 10000% useless?. With camera tech which is 5 years old????.

I have assumed you are in the states, the current price for an iPhone 14 Pro Max is $1099.
The UK price is £1199 when converted comes to $1515, I know you have taxes to add but does it get you close to that. Then if they decide to add another £200 that would be $1767 when you are looking potentially at $1299.
Think it's time the price hike hits the US instead of the rest of the world.

Maybe Apple will finally launch its rumored subscription service, where you pay a monthly fee for the phone and a bundle of services. People will spend more when it's spread out . . . even if they wind up paying a lot more in total.

Im not saying your're wrong, but I'm going to guess the most profitable company in the world has done their homework.
I'm sure they have but I don't subscribe to your underlying implication that by virtue of prior success future success is likely or ensured. I think that's folly. Companies make analytical errors all the time. Apple knows this through its own history. The market will give them their answer in the end.
