I'll answer, but I hope that a certain person doesn't get ticked off again...Jay42 said:So what exactly does a $1,000 power regulator do? Surge protector? How about the $4000 remote?
Addendum to my make-jealous list: I ski 5 a week during the winter...and I'm still in high school.
Basically, the Monster Power regulator makes sure that all of the power that goes to equipment is not only spike- and surge-free, but also it conditions the power so that it's as "smooth" as possible. It doesn't really make anything look or sound any better, but it does increase the lifespan of components. (Also, it came with a full equipment replacement guarantee should any surge or spike, even one caused by lightning, damage or destroy any equipment.)
The remote is a fully-programmable RF system with a 320 x 240 touchscreen... so instead of 10 remotes, I have one. It does all sorts of complicated macros for handling a large home theatre system. Again, this is something you can get now for much less, but remotes like the Logitech Harmony don't have the big touchscreen.
I'm only a little jealous of your being able to ski 5 times a week, because I'm honestly way too scared to get on skis or skates... if there's a phobia about having any bones broken, I may have it.
