Wow, victim blaming is deep here. Seems we should expect to get robbed as part of society in NYC now?
Don't get me wrong, I would never do what he did... but this could have been him buying them after his store closed late?

Tough crowd here.
I think people are just surprised that the victim apparently took no common sense precautions. I definitely wish the guy well and hope he hires security next time as others have suggested.

Ques that need answering:

1. Why is NYC store open 24 hours? (dangerous)

2. Why does Apple retail let one person buy 300 phones? (red flag)

3. Why did he buy 300 phones? (red flag)

4. Why did someone know he was doing this and rob him?

5. Why?

6. Why.

What I want to know is how was he able to carry 300 new iPhones with only having 2 hands.
You are talking about this IKEA bag carrying 300 iPhones? Really, LOL? Bruhhhhhhhh!

There's more than 1 way to carry a large number of items.

1) Why not? City that never sleeps and it isn't like the store itself was robbed. I am sure they have security.

2) Why not? There's nothing illegal about it.

3) Because he wanted to and is legally allowed to

4) They probably stake out the store looking for someone with multiple bags

Las Vegas is open 24/7. Even the Apple Store here closes around 10:00-11:00 PM. When I visited New York City in September I went to the Fifth Avenue store It was very crowded and lit. It was past mid-night and I was alone too.

I agree. Someone mentioned it could be for last minute shoppers who could not get a specific color/type of iPhone a day before or the day of the Holiday. Even if he just marked up $100, thats still a nice little profit.

Wow, an Apple store that's open 24 hours a day? I hate NYC. I wish L.A. had a 24-hour a day always open Apple store.
Fun fact: when I took an urban design and planning class years ago I found out that LA is *literally* the textbook example of how not to build a city. I’m not saying that’s why there’s no 24 hr Apple store, but, well, just sayin’ :p

So if I go into the mountains knowing there are grizzlies that could kill me, and get killed, who is to blame?

The "True Crime" fanatics are at it again I see. Calling this an insurance scam because there's always more to the story.

As if an insurance company would just pay off on this while he enjoys the phones that his "friend the robber stole". They surely wouldn't ask Apple for a list of the serial numbers and have them traced.
