Not surprising - Apple shot themselves in the foot this year.

Who wants an 8 that looks identical to a 7? The odd person that appreciates 4k at 60p? Everyone else will appreciate the price drop in 7 more or go the full hog and cough up 1k for the X...

I ordered the 8+ because i need a better camera than my 6s, but I'm tempted to cancel and wait until next yr. However, if I don't like it, I'll just return it and keep my 6s for a few more yrs. I've soured on the X, the more I see of the Notch the more I think it'll drive me crazy and there's nothing in it, for me, that justify it's ridiculous price. I wish I liked Android, if I did, I'd get the Galaxy S8 - that is my favorite phone - other than I hate Android.

You should try waiting for a Model 3. Preorders for that started on the same day as the SE (there was an article on MacRumors pointing out how there were tiny lines at Apple Stores compared to Tesla stores that morning). Fewer than 0.1% of preorders have been filled so far. A few people are being told this year, most next year, and some are even being told 2019.

For my standing in line 6 hours before preorders started, I'm being told I'll take delivery by March 2018. The official wait will have been 2 years at that point. Of course, I've been waiting since I first started hearing reviews for the Tesla Roadster in ~2010...
I was very close to preordering a model 3. The tax credit situation and the long wait times gave me cold feet. I hope it works out well for you!

Yo I got this, I speak jive:

“Sneaker head language. The silver iPhone x color way is dope af”

People who are excited by athletic footwear say this. The silver iPhone x color is amazing!

So did they make too many of the 8's like the 5C and no one bought it??

Or what??

Why is so much still available??

I bought the iPhone 8+ ;)
I think two factors are at play: more people want to wait to see the iPhone X before deciding (I looked at the price and said "no" to an additional $250 over the iPhone 8+ when you factor in AppleCare) and the factory yields on the 8/8+ have been good.

iPhone 8 is not enough for me to upgrade from my 6 and the X is way too much money for a phone. I don't want to unlock my phone with my face...

You are in trouble then because even Samsung phones are getting expensive. Eventually you will have to suck it up.

I do feel like I'm living in bizarro world. This is the first time ever the Tech media didn't spooge themselves over a new iPhone and the first time ever I'm like, yeah maybe it's worth getting (because 6s to 8+ should be a nice bump).

col·or·way
ˈkələrˌwā/
noun
noun: colourway; plural noun: colourways; noun: colorway; plural noun: colorways
  1. any of a range of combinations of colors in which a style or design is available.
"wallpaper books show coordinating patterns and colorways"
lol the article seems to be written by somebody who's really proud of discovering that word. and it's not even used properly..

Personally, I think they should have released the 8/Plus and the X at the same time. I don't think cannibalizing sales would be a major concern here; people that want the 8 are gonna get the 8, and people that want the X are gonna get the X. In fact, I think by releasing the 8 first, a bunch of 'less patient' people that were initially more interested in the X bought the 8 instead.

Let’s hope the same is said for the iPhone X pre-order day!
At this point we may find that come 10/27 the Xs will be gone in a flash, and when people start seeing shipping pushing out 4+ weeks they'll start buying 8s.

I was going to go for an X, but at this point I might reconsider, get an 8 and save myself $15/month.

The 8 is not going to hold value that well - think about it. Next year it will me up against used X's, whatever souped up X replacement they come out with, and "9" (for want of a better name) bringing OLED and face ID to the Everyman. The market for a used 8 will be pretty weak.

I'll just run with a basic phone.. There is nothing that I need on any of these phones besides a HD camera and internet browser. I think most people feel this way, especially when the have to shell out $1,500 (after tax, apple care, and the storage upgrade for that 4k content)

But but but.... everyone on MR says they're overpriced and don't offer enough to make it worth buying. I'm sure they won't bother buying since they suck so bad.

Except Apple has layaway payment plans (i.u.p.). Only $50 a month. Doesn't matter if it is overpriced.

Every wonder why the iPhone isn't doing well in China? They have to pay upfront.

I should have slept through the night and just ordered this morning. Now I'm tired for no reason. Wish I could know this was the case before sitting up half the night. Ha.

I was too excited to get my first new iPhone in 4 years (been using a workhorse of a 5S) ;) I was up at 3:30 am and feared I'd be waiting a month before delivery. Glad I was wrong. iPhone 8+ will be an awesome phone. The iPhone X, obviously, would have been *the* phone to get, but not for $250 more than the plus (factoring in the $50 bump in AppleCare).

Lol. That thing will sell out in five seconds!

If you check the cheaper version is the one that is having more demand, the iPhone X with a price of $999 will be too expensive for most of the people.

Also remember that the iPhone X will be on sale until November this means that Apple has a lot of days to build thousands of phones more to avoid shortages issues.

I was hopping that the new iPhones have a 512GB version, I don't understand how people cna buy a 64GB version. My iPhone is always without space because 256GB is too low when you can record 4K videos and Live Photos.

Buying an iPhone 8 Plus with 64GB is crazy.

It's getting nuts how much these things cost now. From a few friends that I have talked to that has been the prevailing opinion. I will ride my 7+ out for atleast another year. Only reason I got this one was on Premier I got it for $299.

could be true and is definitely accurate for other products, but Apple products almost always have a decent trade in value and heck even resell value. So I'd bet you'd still be able to get at least $300 for an 8 Trade in.

That's not to say that the lowest priced model doesn't sell. It sells very well. It's just not what first day buyers go for. Remember that most buyers aren't insistent on buying the minute the new models come out. The majority of sales don't come from early adopters.
That's true, most sales come as upgrades when the contracts finish.
