Nice to see unlocked 8's available right off. We used to have to wait for those in the U.S. (you normally had to choose a cell partner version for the first months).

not too surprising. I personally see no real reason to buy the 8 over the much cheaper 6s

It's getting nuts how much these things cost now. From a few friends that I have talked to that has been the prevailing opinion. I will ride my 7+ out for atleast another year. Only reason I got this one was on Premier I got it for $299.

Most people always paid $1,000 for phones going back to the original iPhone. The difference is the cost was always "hidden" in the cost of your 2 yr agreements. Now it's in your face and plain to see. So people are suddenly "shocked," at how expensive phones are.

You should try waiting for a Model 3. Preorders for that started on the same day as the SE (there was an article on MacRumors pointing out how there were tiny lines at Apple Stores compared to Tesla stores that morning). Fewer than 0.1% of preorders have been filled so far. A few people are being told this year, most next year, and some are even being told 2019.

For my standing in line 6 hours before preorders started, I'm being told I'll take delivery by March 2018. The official wait will have been 2 years at that point. Of course, I've been waiting since I first started hearing reviews for the Tesla Roadster in ~2010...
I saw my first Model 3 on the road the other day! Kind of a big deal since I live in the Midwest. Definitely looked different and stood out immediately as I merged onto the highway, but I still think I prefer the Model S design.

Because I'm on T-Mobile's Jump On Demand plan, I can only upgrade in-store. So I'm gonna have to wait until after work to do so. I'm glad to an extent that the 8 Plus isn't stupidly popular, because it means I just might be able to get it on launch day. At the same time, I'm bummed because I want the public to send a very clear message: we want a Home button, and Face ID is stupid. Unfortunately, I think I'd have to go to another dimension for that. *sigh*

I just ordered a 256G silver 8+ for delivery by the 22nd. Surprised at the availability. I should have gone black, but figured that I didn't want to risk a sellout trying to get black, which I would imagine would be the hotter selling color.

Oh, going from a 6+ to the 8+. Looking forward to a battery lasting more than 24 hours.

Was just thinking, next year when Apple announces a new phone again around this time (2nd-3rd week of September), the people that got an 8 or 8 Plus will be able to hop on it, whereas people that get the X will have to wait until Oct (or later because of backorders) to upgrade for their yearly upgrade.

And I am ok with that to be honest. My guess is the iPhone 2018 model will be the 2nd version of the X (the 11?) and therefore better than this first version (better meaning fixing or upgrading any features).

Lol. That thing will sell out in five seconds!

Prob more resellers trying to turn a profit on tight supply than those who feel the really "need" iPhone X. Obviously Apple has little incentive to care about this b/c they get their massive launch day numbers and the resulting media frenzy out of it.

But but but.... everyone on MR says they're overpriced and don't offer enough to make it worth buying. I'm sure they won't bother buying since they suck so bad.

Mac Rumour commenters are a small subset of potential customers, I'm sure there are many other people who are quite willing to buy the X.

If you check the cheaper version is the one that is having more demand, the iPhone X with a price of $999 will be too expensive for most of the people.

Also remember that the iPhone X will be on sale until November this means that Apple has a lot of days to build thousands of phones more to avoid shortages issues.

I was hopping that the new iPhones have a 512GB version, I don't understand how people cna buy a 64GB version. My iPhone is always without space because 256GB is too low when you can record 4K videos and Live Photos.

Buying an iPhone 8 Plus with 64GB is crazy.
I have a 16Gb 6S and I barely reach the limit. I don't need to record in 4K since I don't even have anything to watch them in 4K. I'd be very happy with a 64Gb phone

Coming from a 6s, the $200-odd difference in getting a 7 (which gives me):

- one generation newer CPU/GPU/M chipset
- same storage as I have now
- much improved display
- improved back camera & OIS
- improved back flash
- improved front camera

and getting an 8 (which gives me):

- two generations newer CPU/GPU/M chipset
- double the storage from what I have now
- much improved display + Tru-tone
- improved back flash + slow sync
- wireless charging

I think I'm okay with that; the cost difference between the 8 & X covers the upgrade cost of selling off my Series 2 and getting a Series 3 + LTE which leaves me with newer tech on two fronts instead of just one.

Of course, I'm going to sit on the unopened 8 until I can see hopefully both the 8 & X in store and all that logic might go straight out the window.

So did they make too many of the 8's like the 5C and no one bought it??

Or what??

Why is so much still available??

Bc it’s just the same thing as the 7 with small improvements that’s not worth the upgrade. It’ll help if they change the 4 years old design but they kept the same styling. It’s a meh....

Everyone is waiting to order the X. That thing will be super hard to get.

Can’t wait to see all the D-bags in the iPhone forum returning their 8s when the X is released because (I just wasn’t happy with it).

I’d love to get an honest vote of those preordering the iPhone 8 with the intention of preordering the X.

I'm interested in an Apple TV. But not before Amazon's Prime Video app is available.

Wondering what's up with that. Because even though Cook mentioned at WWDC that Amazon was working on one for Summer (or was it this year) release, there was no talk about Amazon this last presentation (IIRC).

No Amazon Prime Video app, no Apple TV for me.

Not surprising - Apple shot themselves in the foot this year.

Who wants an 8 that looks identical to a 7? The odd person that appreciates 4k at 60p? Everyone else will appreciate the price drop in 7 more or go the full hog and cough up 1k for the X...

I do that's who :D But I'm coming from a well-used, thoroughly enjoyed 5 year old iPhone 5/64GBs - not from a 7. You see, I'm one of those million iPhone users who skipped all those previous 5s, 6, 6s, and 7 launch dates.

And, as for the X, I will now happily wait several more years until they perfect that iteration of iPhone (without the ridiculous notch).
