When you're desperate, you're desperate. Are you a true sports junkie or not? Will you watch the preliminary rounds of the Uruguayan national Tiddley Winks championship on ESPN26?

I won't even watch soccer, world cup or otherwise. I won't watch auto racing. so maybe i'm not a real sports fan but I wasn't desperate enough to watch michigan or lousiville ...

duke is going to lose in 9 seconds ... big baby love

Duke as overrated as ever.

They shouldn't have won those regular season games against BC and FSU, they shouldn't have been a one seed, and they never should have been number one in the country. A classic donut team.

How about that 3-for-18 shooting performance by Redick? Ouch.

We'll see in a bit how Morrison does tonight...he seems to be locking up the Player of the Year award as Redick has struggled a bit at the end of the season.

God damnit Duke! I actually think Duke is a good team and they played some good ball this year. Yes they struggled at times but overall a good team.

Well as dook goes, so does my bracket. I'm about done. So to the next champion, remember to wear your crown with dignity and awe, for you are THE champion, the oracle of bracketology, and must stand tall with pity on all of the other, lesser guessers.

Wow Gonzaga really blew it there. Even though I had them losing today, it still sucks living in the same state. I want them to go far but they just dont have it in them I don't think. Morrison at the end was a mess. Oh well, GO UCLA!

Three words when a team loses a game they were dominating and clearly winning by 11 with 5 minutes to go, should have won, and then the wheels fall off. IT'S THE COACHING! Morrison showed guts, Mark Flew, blew. Ever heard of clip boards, drawn plays from practice, ball handling, percentage set ups and anticipation of defensive attack down the wire? This won flew over the cuckoo's nest. There, that felt better. :p

Other observations, tonight: LSU plays big....because they ARE.
This is not your father's UCLA.
I'm enjoying the "no ink" from SI and ESPN regarding the one team that's won their first three rounds by an average of 15 points per game over their opponents.

Well, Few's gameplan worked to perfection during the first three fourths of the game: the Zags were putting a pretty good hurting on UCLA for a while. OTOH, you do have to wonder why they didn't have the ball in the hands of Morrison near the end. Raivio is an utter mediocrity. Bautista showed an uncharacteristic lapse in fundamentals, and it led to Farmar stealing the ball from him. (Boy, didn't fundamentals -- like boxing out on free throws -- kill Duke at the end of their game?)

Looks like the big media outlets don't know what to do with themselves, seeing as how the "weak" Pac-10 has a team in the Elite 8. I doubt Washington will join them tomorrow, but we shall see... Amazing how UCLA is playing tough and disciplined, just like those classic Stanford teams leading up to their Final Four appearance in 1998. It is a strange look for the Bruins, isn't it? But I think their dream ends Saturday against Memphis.

I had that LSU/Duke game well sussed out. Pretty ugly throughout, and Duke sure helped them out at the end. Any day that Duke loses is a good day! :D

I agree. But should they have been ranked number one for the bulk of the season? I don't think so.

Especially not when you consider how young they are, how small they are and how weak their conference is.

Gonzaga failed early by not completely putting UCLA away when UCLA couldn't hit the broad side of the barn. UCLA took what, almost nine minutes to make their first basket. Gonzaga looked like they wanted to let UCLA self-destruct rather than going for the jugular themselves.

Gonzaga didn't execute at all down the stretch...poor ball movement resulting in bad looks.

I never liked Morrison all that much, but I still can't believe all of his crying when there was still time left and they were only down by two. He had obviously given up.

Maybe this bad taste in his mouth will drive Morrison to return next year...it'll be interesting to see.

S.I. Finally Opening Its Mind?
Big Picture

"Many observers thought the Tigers were the No. 1 seed most likely to lose before the Final Four, but they're still standing while top-seeded Duke is on its way home. On paper at least, Memphis has had one of the easiest roads possible to get to the Elite Eight, beating a 16 seed (Oral Roberts), a nine seed (Bucknell) and a 13 seed (Bradley), so the win over the Braves isn't likely to earn them many new believers, but it should. The Tigers showed off their athleticism, defensive ability and depth. They're a worthy No. 1 seed, and they will probably prove that again on Saturday by earning the Final Four berth that you probably didn't believe they'd get when you were filling out your bracket."

I hope their concession doesn't jinx Memphis against U.C.L.A.

Im watching this Nova BC game and the place is as empty as can be, Why do they play these games in domes anyways?

crap, i'm rooting for duke too

you know, i'm so excited about march madness more than nba playoffs lol

Nova is so hard to beat, especially in a close game. If you're not up 10 with five minutes to go, their guards will protect the ball, drive and make 3s. Then they'll turn you over.

BC had a great season. But they weren't the better team -- tonight or this year.

It that the tactful, philosophically retrospect way of saying "NA, NA-NA-NA, NA!" :p

Memo to The Washington Huskies:

In overtime, consider covering Rashad Anderson. You know. 'Cause you really didn't do that during regulation. At all.

God this has been a good game ...

I'm a Uconn fan. I've watched them all season. They're central to the success of my bracket.

But let me say this. I have no idea how Uconn continues to win games. They play sloppy, they dig themselves into holes, the blow big leads -- basically, they show up for 25 minutes a game.

But, like championship teams, they just keep winning.

They better give George Mason 40 minutes, or Uconn fans (and my bracket) are in for a rude surprise ...

i'm in the exact same boat with you man.

but in that 25 minutes they show up, they ball hard. that's the only thing keeping them going.

let's just hope they can pull it together a bit more against GM...

Boy, Washington has nobody to blame but themselves. The stupid, STUPID foul on Jensen against Marcus Williams. Brandon Roy, easily shredding UConn's D, stupidly draws a foul and a T and has to go to the bench for a long stretch of time with four fouls. And yeah, the defensive scheme at the end of regulation was idiotic, but 99% of all college coaches seem happy to give up game-tying threes instead of fouling before the shot can even get off.

So I have Texas in the finals on my bracket, but I'd be glad to see LSU win this one. 7 point lead in OT...
