Intel Core in early days. My how we all forgotten (especially with Core2Duo lineup). Not no more since then until M1 :)
Wasn't that the case for switching from PowerPC and even the 68k? Intel based Macs seemed to be alright up until 2016 when then modified the design of the chassis, which led to thermal issues. If they keep the 2012 to 2015 design, there wouldn't have been as much issues.

You’re correc5 except on design. 2012-2015 was heavy by 2016 onward design of the MacBook Pro models. I know you’re mostly referring to ports & butterfly keyboard. We just need SDXC, USB-C 4/TB4, HDMI. I think even USB-a isn’t reauire$ as often or will not be in 4 yrs. Maybe just one 3.1 gen1 port.
