Yeah, I’ve noticed the same. I want a 44mm GSS. There was one at a store here in Atlanta over the weekend – but I was still on the fence and it got taken. Since then, I’ve been stalking both iStocknow and the Apple app and it doesn’t appear that any stores in Georgia have received any 44mm stainless in any color since Sunday – save for 44mm silver SS at one location, and that was an odd situation because I clicked on the link the instant I got the Istocknow notification and Apple’s site said there was none available. So either there was only one or a few and they got taken within 10 second of the notification, or Istocknow glitched out.

Surrounding states (Alabama, North Carolina) have gotten a few, but no love for Georgia at all this week.
... SBSS just popped up in Alabama.

I had a SBSS almost in my hand at 8 am on 9/21 while I waited for my Max but I couldn't decide. I asked again about 20 minutes later and they were gone.

I signed up for istocknow notifications and received several alerts over the past three days.for SBSS. Picked it up this morning. Istocknow worked great for me (San Francisco Bay Area).

How were you able to sign up for notifications? Every time I try to do so, I get a pop-up showing:

You current map doesn't contain any unavailable product!
"Hide if no stock" and "New Arrivals" must be unchecked.

And those two options are not checked. Anyone have any ideas?

Never Mind, damn, these forums are good! I just went through the process again from the beginning, and was able to sign up. "never-mind", and thanks!

Are you doing this from a laptop or a mobile device? The mobile site can be a bit wonky.

Are you sure you have "retail only" checked (so that it excludes online inventory, which is always available) and you've limited to the model(s) you specifically want - i.e., so there are at least some red (as opposed to green) map markers in your view?

Edit - echoing Bunnicula: use the desktop site, not mobile.

I have no idea the difference, but I finally was able to get it to work starting over from scratch, selecting the inventory and such. Thanks for the ideas, something in there worked. :)

Kinda crazy how hard it is to find. I keep checking both Apples site and istock now with no luck. Tried calling the store near me a few times this week and they said they haven't seen any.

I think stock is severely constrained right now.

The stock notifications are really the ideal way to grab one as soon as it shows up in a store near you.

I've been stalking the apple.com and istocknow for 48 hours looking for a 44 SS silver in Chicago. No dice.

we need a Macrumors trade service to start connecting users to available models in different areas..

On watch for SS space black and SS gold in Toronto. Yorkdale got a bunch of the SS Hermes and Hamilton has a SS gold milanese but that's about it. Didn't think I was going to upgrade but when I saw them in store.. I caved lol. My delivery is set for Oct 25 which sucks.

Wait.. the SS gold milanese in Hamilton just got sold two minutes ago. LOL

I called an Apple store in Ohio and asked if the guy had a friend who would mail me the watch after I bought it if I paid him $50. You can guess the answer haha,

There is a niche market for people who want stuff not in stock in their local store to be picked up in another store and shipped to them, but it would probably only be profitable for a short time around launches and maybe the holidays.

Managed to score a 44MM SS w/White Sports Band at my local Apple store. The iStockNow notification was at 2:38pm, I completed checkout at 2:54pm and now they are out of stock again.

Ordered a 44mm stainless steel white sport band about two hours after preorders opened up. Originally was in the Oct 12 - 19 window. Setup notifications on istocknow Monday for either that or the 44 SS with Milanese loop. Got the istock notification at 2:37 CT in Nashville. Just purchased, reserved for pickup today, and canceled my preorder. istock was showing several cities with availability then but it seems to be dwindling fast.

I am waiting until I get my store pickup watch in hand before canceling my online order. Just in case something goes wrong and it is somehow sold before I get there. I had a scare with the iPhone 7 JB where I was picking up in store and they couldn't find the phone assigned to me for a few minutes.

that's probably good advice. i'd been seeing reports of devices in my window going to preparing to ship at which point i believe you can't cancel. i can't make it to the store for about 4-5 hours so i didn't want to risk that happening during that time and having to deal with returning the preorder.

Today was the day. Although I really wanted the 44mm Gold SS with Sports Band, I was able to reserve one with the Milanese Loop.

I used iStockNow to snag my watch but I never could get the browser or email notifications to work even though I followed instructions to the tee. I just simply refreshed the local store activity pages when I could, then to my surprise, the online Apple Store reflected the stock information. iStockNow does work. But be aware that it does not reflect store walk-in allowances so you might still get lucky (or not as I was a few times) walking in to your local store.

Good luck to everyone!

Did you grab the one in Hamilton or Markham?

LOL that's how bad the stock is.. we can literally figure out who's buying in the GTA lol.

I'm not interested in any of the milanese models so I think I'll be waiting for my delivery in the mail.

It's that bad since last Friday, believe me. I got the one from the Toronto.

I was told at my local store that the app they use to check in store inventory uses the same data that the online store uses.

Were you actually able to buy one in a store that showed no inventory online? Has anyone? All I’ve read is advice that you might get lucky, but I have read any actual accounts of that happening.

I agree...aluminums are hard to find too! If this keeps up, I'm getting an aluminum, if I can even find one LOL!

I did yesterday and iStock information pretty much matches what the stores have. Been to 3 stores just to test iStock reliability.

That’s not necessarily true. All these “stock” lists out there work fairly well, but i wouldn’t rely on them at all. Especially for something as in demand as the AW4.

My stainless steel watch, bought Monday of this week showed up on the Apple Store "device" as in stock. It did NOT show up at apple.com or on the Apple Store app at that very same moment. AND, a senior employee confirmed for me that the online stock does NOT show available unless the count is above a certain level. Translation: They have stock for walk-in checking ONLY.
