im planning on getting a 2013 refurb as soon as they become available (prob in about a month). do you think ill be getting one in a mavericks box?

hmmm, maybe i should go with a new one?
It depends on how soon you want it. I suspect that the box doesn't matter as much as some people like to think it does. More importantly I really doubt it would affect the price as much as you would save by going with a refurb.

Im new to this whole thing so excuse me if its a stupid question but is there anything else i should have done besides going into the app store and downloading mavericks? any extra that i should do to make sure its running how it should with mavericks?

Once you get Mavericks installed and running, you should start the App Store app again and check for any software updates in the updates tab and install those. Beyond that, you should be in good shape.

Anyone received their new iMac with the Mavericks box? I mean the picture on the box with the "wave" wallpaper on it?

I'm typing this question my new iMac. :D It is a refurb that I received tonight. I had to install Mavericks on it. Since it didn't come preinstalled, I don't have iWorks. If I contact Apple support, do you think they will help me download it or am I not entitled to it since I ordered a refurb?

When you open the App Store app you should probably get a notification that the apps are available for you to claim.

Check to see if they show up as free when you search for them.

Most people who buy a used machine are buying it for the machine, not the box. And ML isn't that old.

That's obvious, but people may associate it with being a year older than it really is. May not be a big deal for you, but when I'm buying a $3000 computer I expect it to come with the newest things.

Mine came on the 6th with old box (apparently from reading here, so what) and 10.8.4.
Box will go into the attic for about 5 years I very much doubt anyone will give two hoots when i resell it then, what the picture on the box is.

Has anyone received their iMac in the new packaging and with Mavericks pre-installed yet?

Thanks!

I received the package today and just got around to opening it. I can confirm that it came with a ML retail box. I'm extremely disappointed and a little upset. Almost 3 weeks after Mavericks release and I still receive a box with ML on it.

Please (the community) do not give me a lecture. If this isn't important to you, great. It is for me.

I will be calling apple and see if I can get one shipped once they're ready.

I'm sorry for being confused, but are you asking them for a new box or a whole new computer? Wouldn't it be wise to check and see how the machine checks out before sending it back? I'd hate to have you send back a great screen and risk getting a lesser screen back all for the sakes of a box. To each is own though. Good luck.

I got my iMac last Friday and it came with ML - not bothered by it - at least it's a free upgrade to Mavericks.

It's okay, I may not have been clear enough originally. I am just asking for a replacement box, no matter how absurd that sounds.

My Mac came from Fremont CA and everything looks superb as of now.
