I think the regular pro will be plenty big

I always felt my Xr was already large and Im coming from se2 noW

and prior to that I had an x which I found too small for its physical size

and prior to that plus phones exclusively

i did consider the max though. In the end even being a good deal, $700 off through att coupled with being $100 more expensive I didn’t feel it was worth double the cheap price of the regular pro for a bigger screen that would be a mixed bag and camera features I’m not sure I’d notice or care about. Triple camera will be cool enough for me

This is exactly how I feel. The regular Pro IS plenty big for most people. The Max has always been overkill for me. Anyone I've spoken to just laughs at how big the Max is. And the 12 Pro Max is apparently even bigger than last year's.

If it’s your main video streaming device , I could see it being worth it. It’s not for me though haha

and iPhone browsing experience could never replace iPads. No matter how big the screen is

I think my hands are pretty average sized, and I have no problems with Max phones and will be getting one again.

Bigger people with bigger hands like bigger phones. I bet it’s really based on someone’s size and not really anything else.

I've seen many smaller than average women with them... they're easy to carry in a typical purse. It's just they accept two-handed usage like a small tablet.

I'm a guy with slightly smaller than average hands and miss one handed usage, so I'm from an 11 Pro to the mini.

I’m downsizing from a 11 Pro Max to the 12 Pro. I’ve used the bigger phones since 6s+ and want to switch it up this year. I will say I’m glad we do have a 14 day return period just in case I find that I want to switch back to the Max.

Hello,

My question is simple: Are Apple's "Max" models too big to be viable for everyday use?

Indeed, considering my needs and these incredible specificities, I seriously ask myself the question to acquire the iPhone 12 Pro Max. I have already taken the iPhone 11 Pro Max. Compared to my iPhone X, the difference does not seem monumental (less than between a 5S and 6S+). Nevertheless, it's impossible to know if size is a daily problem. Do you have any feedback to give me about your experience?

Do the advantages in photos, videos, and especially in visual comfort make you forget the size of the phone?

I'm not used to writing a message with one hand, even with the X, and I have difficulty getting it to fit in my pocket. At this level, it won't change me. But it's clear that with a Pro Max, when you take your phone out, it's much less discreet.

What do you think about it?

They're about the same physical footprint as the 8 Plus I've been using for the last 3 years, the size of which feels perfectly normal to me. When I use smaller phones now, they always feel too small.

Im switching to the 12 pro (or attempting to) after using max devices when available. I’m hoping the 6.1 is the sweet spot. I never really used the max for video (only on plane rides but who knows when that will normalize). I don’t even like to browse on it as I prefer my 12.9 iPad for everything. Carrying the max isn’t a problem anymore. I keep it in the back pocket and holding it in my hands has become normal. I also only use a thin sena sleeve. I do feel the weight on the 11 pro max is too heavy to hold at times and for gym shorts.

I’m a power user of my phone. On my MBP, I used to video editing and watch series. I go on forum with my phone, text with my phone, record videos for my YT channel with my phone etc. Honestly, even if I have a X model, I have never it on my pocket. I’m afraid this latter falls on my pocket and when I’m sitting, get the phone on my pocket is disconfortable. So, I have the habits to take a bag on my phone is on this bag. Winter is cool because we have some jacket with big pocket to get on it.
You said all this and I still have no idea which size you prefer. 🥴

Anecdotally, I've noticed it's mainly women with pro max phones; easy to keep in a handbag. I think the size of phone someone wants is based on usage and purpose as opposed to the size of the human. Though there is probably a point at which someone has such large hands its difficult to type efficiently on a smaller phone. I have average sized hands and found it difficult to type properly on smaller past phones than I do on my 11.

Ya I can see that not being an issue for humans with bags. But for most of the bunch I see most to by size of hands.

The Pro Max is only slightly bigger (.1 inches) then my iPhone 6S+. Really looking forward to the extra screen real estate and the 3 camera system. Finally, get a camera that can take pictures in low light. The only down side, it weighs about 1.2 oz more than my 6S+. Never had an issue putting the 6S+ in my pants front pocket.

I got my iPhone 12 Pro Max case today and its not much of a difference compared to my iPhone XS Max so I will bet fine.

I’ve just received my 12 pro cases and I’m pretty happy with the size compared to my 11pro max ... I’m giving up a bit of screen but gaining an easier to handle device.

After always getting the largest iPhone available, I have dropped down in size to the 12 Pro. Just getting fed up with the big phones getting bigger and bigger.

This completely depends on the person. A friend of mine swears by his. I wouldn't even consider it. My 11 Pro is right on the edge of being too large for my preference.

I think of the new iPhones only the mini is truly a one-handed device, the 12 and 12 pro are more one-handed but I'd best most will still require some shuffling to reach the top of the screen. For me it is more about the burden and carrying the thing around than the one-handed side.

There is probably no totally right answer, go with the 12 and you may miss the larger screen, go with the max and at times you'll wish it was smaller and lighter. Pick your compromise!

You’re right about us smaller-than-average women. One-handed phone life hasn’t happened since Steve Jobs made the phones.
