Noob question. How do I look up my display type information?

In all honesty from experience, if you're happy with your display, do not look it up. It is easy to fall into this trap of analyzing every little cm of light bleed and unevenly lit backlights and stuff like that on a different color back ground, etc. I think it would be better just to enjoy and go wow, what a great value the mbp jr. is now.

9C9E here too, coming from my 08 white macbook its far brighter/richer color, but some of the blue links (google for instance) almost look purple at times, everything else looks beautiful and I think its just my eyes adjusting from the lower quality screen of the white mb

Also consider that purply blue may be the way it was supposed to look all along, and that you were just never seeing it right on the old MB screen. There was a website I frequent that I thought used a black and blue color scheme until one day I added a Desktop LCD panel to my laptop and realized it was black and purple. Sure enough once I noticed this, I saw that it looked more purple than blue on other computers with better gamut displays as well. It was my old laptop screen that was seeing things "wrong".

I have the same problem. See my thread: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/716467/

Let me know if you try to exchange yours. I might give it a go this weekend.

9C9E here.

It's washed out a tad, but no way as bad as the late '08 MBs. I'm dealing with a .5" streak on the right side of my screen.

:(

9C9E here too, find the display to be very good! I see here what you mean by washed out - maybe it's better to see most of the contrast range, dark and bright - though I prefer it also a little more crisp, but that was easy to achieve by creating a new monitor profile in expert mode = super crisp screen.

No problem with streak here though.

Coming from an 2.4 unibody 13", this display is simply stunning to my eyes.

Besides the purple link issue, do you see scroll distortion for example when visiting http://www.apple.com/startpage/. Drag the aqua scroll bar by scrolling up and down, and observe the gray background section near the bottom of the page. I'm trying to determine if this is graphics chip related issue or LCD screen issue?

9C9E here without any of these issues: flawless :)

I still can't figure out how to find the type of screen I have from those instructions (newbie), but it is def nicer then the UMB they had in store... Though I do have 1 dead pixel underneath the mail icon, but I think I can live with it rather then swapping it.

I still can't figure out how to find the type of screen I have from those instructions (newbie) ...

Go to Color Sync Utility > Displays > Open Displays > Click Color LCD > At "Factory Profile" on the right side of the window click on Open > in the new window scroll to the second last entry and click on "Apple display make..." > there you've got manufacturer and model.

Cheers from 9C9E :)

9CBD

What is this? What am I looking at (what does it mean)?

ordered Tues.?, arrived Friday (today).

what's the manu date codes?

Thanks.

9CBD for me and it's perfect. It looks just as good as my 15 MBP to me. Had to calibrate it tho and now I'm so pleased.

Mine is 9CA1. doesn't seem to be any issue so far.
The angle is slightly better than my 5 day old umb (exchanged for the new one)

9C9F

Blacks are good but not comparable to my older MBA Rev. A. I have some minor bleeding at the bottom but the colours are excellent and viewing angles superb.

Might try a replacement.

9C9E here and my blues are purple and greens are florescent.
Links are supposed to be blue, without question, but these are very purple.

Going to either have to figure out how to calibrate it appropriately or switch to something else.

I got 9CBD after exchanging my uMB with 9CA8 (it was the improved AU optronics panel that was pretty much perfect, even better than the 9C8C)

My yellows, greens and blues are fluorescent. The screen is washed out. Absolutely look horrible coming off my uMB. From my experience with multiple uMB, you want to get a AU optronics panel and in the case of 13'' MBP that means 9C9F I believe.

Thanks for the confirmation. I went to Apple Store today and noticed all the models 13, 15, or 17 (glassy or matte) on display all had the scroll distortion about 2/3rd way down the screen. It only appears when scroll up and down under certain speed. The page transition feels like ripple effect on the screen. I thought this issue should have been addressed by Apple now after 10.5.5 with Nvidia graphics chip! Here is a link on the issue:

Apple Store was willing to swap another 9CBD unit for me, I'll settle with this one for now (until we sort out the 13" UMBP SATA 1.5 Gigabit issue)!

For your information:

First Unit:
- 9C9E (Week 22, 2009), SN: W8923***** (Week 23 unit)
- LTN133AT09 (Samsung)
- Color info:
-----------
Red x = 0.640 Green x = 0.310 Blue x = 0.150 White x = 0.313
Red y = 0.330 Green y = 0.610 Blue y = 0.055 White y = 0.329

Second Unit:
- 9CBD (Week 3, 2009), SN: W8922***** (Week 22 unit)
- LP133WX3_TLA1 (LG-Philips)
- Color info:
-----------
Red x = 0.000 Green x = 0.000 Blue x = 0.000 White x = 0.312
Red y = 0.000 Green y = 0.000 Blue y = 0.000 White y = 0.328

The above data were obtained using SwitchResX Control.

Both 9C9E and 9CBD screens are bright which are comparable to updated MBA, 15/17" UMBP with default Color Profile. 9CBD is perfect to my eyes, deep black and bright white, no purple on blue, no lines as seen on MBA. I preferred the overall coloration of 9CBD unit, hence keeping it for now.

From my personal experience and others here it sounds like your 9CBD was lemon. Best of luck getting a good display.

I have the 9C9E model. There is significant backlight bleed along the bottom, links are indeed purple as other users have stated, and i also have the weird lines around the edges that some others are having with this panel.. already booked an appointment for the genius bar tomorrow.... I almost prefer 9C8C panel at this point

I have 9c9e.
I tried to replicate this ripple thing but ended up giving myself a headache trying to scroll up and down quick :p
Anyone have a youtube link?

OK, All of you lucky owners of the new MBP 13"s please chime in.

So far, I have a chance to try 2 units with different screens. My first one had a slight bleed on the bottom tight so I had it replaced. Here is what I know so far:

Updated (Displays with reported issues are bolded):
9CA0 - Not as bright as the previous 15" MBPs
9CA1 - My first unit. Bright but had a slight bright bleed on the right bottom
9CBD - My replacement unit had this and it looks perfect/bright.
9C8C - Some reporting a washed out screen but the jury is still out on this one.
9C9E - Some reporting a washed out screen and some 'streak' issues on right side. Jury is still out on this one.
9C9F - Bright and good according to latest post.

I haven't yet read all the replies to this thread but my 13" MBP is washed out! Blues look blue purple and browns (for example the calendar) looks like a gradient where it turns more and more orange as it nears the top. Greens also looks odd, it's just plain off.

I thought I was going crazy when i unboxed my computer...

I have the same problem. See my thread: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/716467/

Do your browns look almost orange?
